Summary: What an amateurish film.
Review: A laughing Vulcan goes around curing everyone's personal problems by giving them a big hug(if only it was that easy).
A clunky and faulty Enterprise is then sent on a rescue mission with an undermanned crew,despite the fact that the ship was orbiting Earth and could have beamed up as many crew as they wanted.
Kirk and co then embark on a rescue mission down to the planet and are defeated,despite them being armed with phasers and the opposition with primitive weapons.
Kirk then tells Sybok "you'll get no help from me" and yet in the next scene flies him up to the Enterprise.
Despite being in direct contact with the ship,Kirk doesn't warn them and Sybok and and a few friends enter the ship and take it over with no opposition(no security,nothing). Laughable.
Sybok then somehow quickly flies the Enterprise all the way to the centre of the Galaxy to meet "God".
It turns out that the alien posing as "God" really just wants a lift from the ship and this alien is disposed of by a few phaser blasts..........from a ship that couldn't defeat a few primitive inhabitants of the planet.
The only fun scenes in this movie are the campfire and mountain-climbing scenes,but even they are overlong.This is a very silly movie with a very weak story and Bill Shatner deserves every brickbat he gets for it. In essence,he has robbed Star Trek fans of a good Star Trek movie by hijacking ST5 for this rather amatuerish film.
It is sufficient to say that ST5 was by far the poorest performer at the box office of any of the Star Trek films and no wonder.

Summary: God! is he searching
Review: William Shatner has succeeded where so many others have failed. He has supplanted Ed Wood as the worst director of all time. Of course this is no surprise, he is the one weak link in the entire Star Trek legacy and Tim Allen's parody of him as a blowhard was right on the money. Avoid this movie at all costs. Resistance is not futile.

Summary: not the best Star Trek movie, but I liked it.
Review: This was not the best Star Trek movie, and not even all that spectaular, but it was fun to watch and that's the bottom line, how enjoyable it is. Despite the bad critisim, William Shatner worked the best he could with what he had. Furthermore, he is not even a career director like Nimoy and the others and you have to give Shatner credit for pulling this off. This movie is a lesson. It is a lesson that all is not what it seems. Kirk against God? I think not. Kirk against a charleton, yes and the wisdom to recognise a dubious charlaton is an important message. The Star Trek V film was a bit too jokey for my taste, but the light-heartedness of all the movies is what makes Star Treks 1-6 the best of all sci-fi(that's my opinion ). III and IV are much more balanced with humor and seriousness. Most of the setting is aboard the "New" and glitched Enterprise and takes place with Kirk, Spock, and McCoy. You get a grand tour of the New Enterprise from bridge to basement and all the secret passages and jeffries tubes. A virtual tour is enough to buy the movie. But besides that, it does have a few moments like the outdoors scenes, campfire stories, and the battle before getting hyjaked. Not to mention a cool pair of anti-grav boots for Spock.

Summary: Give me a break. It's more Star Trek than others.
Review: This movie is more Star Trek than a lot of the other movies or series. Lets all remember that the original pilot was rejected for being "too cerebral." Star Trek only became an action/adventure type show/movie to survive commercially and make it on the air. At its heart Star Trek is a deep exploration of the human condition and Star Trek V makes a fine contribution to this. All too often latter day trekkies (or trekkers as the too-refined-for-their-own-good modern fans call themselves) focus on the technology, sensuality, and action of Star Trek while ignoring the greater messages within. The movie's message is, "Happiness is where you find it, and painful experiences are as much a part of your personality as joyous experiences."
Watch it, its a fine movie.

Summary: BEAM THIS ONE UP IMMEDIATELY!
Review: While many fans consider this the weak link in the STAR TREK movie canon, the fact remains that, until the release of STAR TREK VI - THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY some years later, STAR TREK V was the best received entry in the series since 1986's smash-hit, THE VOYAGE HOME. Also, FINAL FRONTIER has the unique distinction of being the only film in cinematic history for which seatbelts were installed in movie theaters, a truly remarkable accomplishment and one that's unlikely to be repeated. Boasting a crisp transfer and Paramount's usual treasure-trove of behind-the-scenes extras, this is one Trek not to be missed!

Summary: Not That Bad
Review: I didn't think that this movie was anywhere near as bad as most people say. It certainly can't compete with the even numbered Trek films but it's not that bad. The plot could have used some work but at least this film held my attention and I wasn't bored all the way through it which is a lot more than I can say for the first Star Trek movie. The first one was the worst in my opinion. And Shatner's directing was not that bad either. The directing was nothing to brag about but it wasn't atrocious. I found this film to be enjoyable and don't feel that it is a travesty or a disgrace.

Summary: "Three Stooges in Space"
Review: I still remember my friend's one-line review of this movie as we left the theater. She was reacting to the final scene with Spock, McCoy and Kirk singing (off key) around a camp fire, one of many pathetic and ineffectual attempts at humor. About a dozen of us had ditched work to see Star Trek V when it came out and, boy, were we disappointed. What an embarrassement!This movie has little offer non-fans. If possible, it is even more annoying to life-long Trekkers, such as myself, with its violations of the canon with regard to Sybock, the renegade Vulcan (I won't spoil it, if you are determined to watch it) and out-of-character behavior by Spock and others. The movie that confirmed the odd-numbered Star Trek movie curse. Watch II, IV, VI or First Contact (VIII) again, instead of wasting your time on this turkey.

Summary: Shatner helms a baddie...
Review: Besides the new "Insurrection," this is the only "Star Trek" movie that feels tired, like we've seen it before. William Shatner directs and stars in this ho-hum film that leaves much to be desired. The plot concerns a renegade Vulcan named Sybok hijacking the Enterprise and taking it to the center of the universe to find God. It's not a pretty sight. Most of the characters we know and love have nothing to do here but act like zombies, especially Uhura, who gets naked and sings in front of Sybok's desciples. Why was this scene put in there? Don't get me wrong, Nichelle Nichols is a wonderful actress, but this is embarrassing to watch. As for Shatner's direction, it's actually not that bad. His writing needs plenty work, though.

Summary: A good trek adventure!
Review: Star Trek V The Final Frontier, while not being the best of the TOS movies, is not a bad story at all. It primarily focuses on friendship and family. The family of course being the three main characters. The story could've used some tweaking up here and there, but it still works well. The producers could've paid a little more attention to details though, I do not think that the Constitution class starship had in excess of 78 decks. What would've made it a little more interesting is if Sean Connery had been able to play the role of Sybok. Unfortunately for Star Trek and fortunate for Tom Clancy fans, he was busy filming "The Hunt for Red October." Overall though, in my opinion, Star Trek V is a good Star Trek movie and in good keeping with what Gene Roddenberry wanted out of Star Trek.

Summary: The Trek Franchise Takes A Nose Dive
Review: I can't even fathom what they were thinking when they made this movie. Apparently Shatner had some good ideas when he was chosen to direct this, but Paramount cut his funding significantly and the movie ended up going to pieces. In more bad news, Industrial Light & Magic wasn't available to do the effects this time around, so the special effects in this installment are very primitive looking. The one positive thing this movie has is a ton of humor, but unfortunately it is pretty corny. When this movie gets a special edition re-release in a few months, it'll be very interesting to see what Shatner has to say about what this movie was intended to be and just how things changed when his funding got slashed. Other than that, I have no desire to watch this movie again. Most Trek fans I know pretend it doesn't even exist, so take that for what it's worth.
