Summary: Plot holes, mimicking. Was expecting more.
Review: I don't like this movie. There are two major gripes that I have with it, which come up because I have larger expectations from big budget flicks directed by Hollywood titans like Spielberg.The plot hole was pretty evident, and I waited for the explanation throughout the movie and never got it. If you follow the sequence of events, the murder which Anderton supposedly did was instigated by the precogs themselves. What I mean is that if they hadn't seen him murder someone he wouldn't have been set on the path that lead him to do it. Maybe someone else was going to inform him of the scheme, and then the precogs would see it. But that didn't happen, and wasn't explained. Makes absolutely no sense to me. Maybe I am missing something, despite watching this movie a few times looking for clues. Second gripe is Spielberg's futile attempts to do it like Ridley. The Russian doctor scene (does he have prejudice towards Russians?), is injected with this same 'weird' theme as Ridley Scott has done with many scenes in Bladerunner. The wife of a doctor chattering away in some bizzar trance like language (it wasn't russian), almost resembling the final scene with Roy Batty or Maybe one of the scenes with Gaff. And the prison keeper who aside from acting weird uses the same disconnected tone. Maybe this is how Philip K. Dick writes, but Ridley pulled it off first, and I can't think of this as anything but mimicking on Spielberg's part. Great special effects show. I wish they would stop making everything so blue, that visual noise detracts and doesn't add anything.

Summary: The Future
Review: First, this movie is fast paced (shorter than two hours, I think), so you know that just by the awesome blue, futuristic settings, and the fact that the main character is a cop, you're going to have to pay attention reeeaaal hard. That does come in handy.
I'm a computer geek, and I thought the way they did computers and just the whole background of the place was plain awesome. And Precrime kicked butt! Plus Tom Cruise is... never mind.
What I liked about this movie was the eerie, melancholy way it was. Just the whole morbid setting, with the cerulean glow that the movie SCREAMS out. I personally think the plot could have done with a thicker setting, and less twists, because I felt that if a bird sang I would lose the concentration and train of thought - in other words, the dialogue wasn't loud enough, the plot was much too twisty, and there seemed to be too many characters in the way.
But, in the end, it call came together. Though there were still some lose ends, but then again, I missed the first fifteen minutes of the movie.
Another thing was that I'm going to bring to attention was at some parts the graphics really sucked. Just the computer generations... it bit! But then at others it was awesome.
You would never be able to guess that Speilberg directed <i>this</i> movie <i>and</i> A.I.. Overall, it was a great movie.

Summary: one of Cruise's best
Review: next to roles like Jerry Maguire and Ethan Hunt is Mission Immossible, theres Tom Cruise in Minority Report and this is really a great role for him and Steven Spielberg's direction and the characters and atmosphere pay off in this. obviously one of Spielberg's harshest. in the future crimes can be sceen before they ever happen and thats what Cruise and the rest of his team do, is put away the badguys, but something will happen to Cruise and he will have to run to save his own ass from being put away. Colin Farrell is along for the ride as the cop whos trying to catch Cruise but finds out something else as well. riveting, extrodinary and shocking. this one hits the bullseye

Summary: Cruise at his best
Review: I loved Minority Report. The movie had me hooked early and took me on a fantastic ride. The story is complex but in one short paragrah I'll tell a little bit about it. John Anderton(Tom Cruise) is the chief of Pre-Crime in Washington D.C. and is accused of future murder. The movie then goes on a wild goose chase where he is trying to prove he didn't do it. Tom Cruise is outstanding in the movie. This is one of his greatest performances of all time. He plays the character well. You feel for John Anderton as you see the movie unwind. You feel for him because of the fine acting that Cruise does. Colin Farrel is good in the movie aswell. He plays Danny Whitmore a federal agent is trying to see if pre-crime works. He ends up chasing Anderton in the movie. He plays the character so well. Farrel does such a good job of making you hate him. I love that kind of stuff. The special effects in the movie are some of the best all time. They bring out some scary ideas in the movie that could be possible some time in the future. Roger Ebert said "Minority Report reminds us of why we go to the movies" and I couldn't agree any more. This is a cinematic masterpiece and a must own to any DVD collection.

Review: A respectable attempt, tainted by clean sets and clean clothes and clean actors. where are the drugs? The scene with the typecast creepy doctor is just not enough. this should be remembered as a TOM CRUISE FACIAL ACTING action suspense flick not a PKD movie.

Summary: Better Than I Ever Expected
Review: "Minority Report" is a gripping drama about preventing murder before it happens. Tom Cruise plays John Anderton, a police captain who works for the "Precrime" division of the police department in Washingto D.C. in the year 2054. Because of the Precrime experiment/department, there has not been one murder in D.C. in six years. Three humans who are kept in liquid called "precogs" have visions of crimes that are about to happen. Anderton and his collegues then use that information to prevent murders all over the city. This procedure seems foolproof until Anderton realizes that he is next in line to murder someone. The tables turn. "Minority Report" is a futuristic film that doesn't bore you with a lot of scientific jargon or far-fetched ideas. The thought of murders being prevented alone draws you into this film. Steven Spielberg does an excellent job of showing a futuristic Washington D.C. without it looking fake and silly. The story will also keep you glued. There is the obvious story of the precrime division, a backstory regarding Anderton's son who was kidnapped and has been missing for the past 6 years, and the story of Anderton trying to figure out why he is going to kill someone he has never met. Believe me, this movie will keep you glued to the screen! I would highly recommend this film. Not only is is visually interesting, but the story and performances are incredible!

Summary: Great movie with Good Ideas
Review: I enjoyed this fast-paced futuristic movie. I liked the question proposed in the movie of if one can change one's destiny. This movie kept me on my toes with fast camrea action and well developed main charaters. In this movie the director of the pre-crime unit is fully supportive of arresting people accused of future murders. Until he finds himself being accused of committing a future murder. The chase is on, in the meantime he finds the secret that could shut down pre-crime, he could either ignore it or exploit it to put things arright. The movie was very futuristic but had themes that you can apply to today. Good movie, good actors, and good action!

Review: some people i know didn't like this because it was too dark and gross. Well, the scene with the blindfold, and the milk and sandwich was pretty gross, and i agree that it was dark, but that adds to the mystery. Anywho, you really feel for the main character, played very well by Tom Cruise, and I was kind of surprised that he did drugs, but that's just part of the role. The end is very intense, you should watch this just for the part where the Pre-cog all of a sudden yells for Tom to run. It's intense. Great movie, what you'd expect from This top-notch director and excellent premise.

Review: I didn't think this was great, but it was an intriguing concept and was pretty well pulled off. The plot twists at the end were pretty suprising. All in all, a good use of a couple hours.

Summary: Entertaining, but transparent SF
Review: Tom Cruise "John" sees dead people. But only BEFORE they are murdered, with the help of three seemingly vegatative precognitives. When John's precogs see into the future and predict HE will become a murderer, John finds himself the target of his own police force. Can John prove his own innocence, or is he destined to become a murderer? I really enjoyed Minority Report. But I felt the plot was fairly predictable, and the ending was very contrived. I found it hard to believe that a seemingly somnambulant precog female was able to speak, talk, and interpret the sensory feedback she received after being contained within the 'temple' for quite so long. Also, the security was pretty lousy at the police station if John (a wanted fugitive) could so easily break in. *Sighs* Personally, I was much more interested in how the precogs would adapt to the events AFTER the story, than in viewing the fourth quarter of this film. Overall, while I enjoyed Minority, it had almost zero re-watch value. I give it 3.5 stars. I've seen more involved plots on the Twilight Zone.
