Rating: Summary: NOT GREAT Review: I loved Jurassic Park, sort of, but this was sorely disappointing in so many ways. First, I know that a movie can't follow a book to a "T" but this one went off into outer-space! For the most part the movie didn't even take place in the same setting! Also, the feel was all wrong, character and plot manipulation rivals that of "Queen of the Damned." If you read the book don't watch the movie ever, it will leave you with a sour taste.
Rating: Summary: One of my Favorites Review: Jurassic Park left me in awe at how CGI could make these creatures, that I have loved since I was two, come to life with such realism! I was hoping for a sequel. Fortunately, four years later I got that sequel in the form of this movie. I felt the dinosaur action was more plentiful in this one than the previous installment and we get to see some newer faces in the dinosaur community. The acting is pretty good but seems to get a little off key here and there. Overall, I thought it was slightly superior than its predecessor and is one of the best dinosaur films out there!
Rating: Summary: this movie's stupidity left me speechless Review: Words are hard to find to describe this train wreck of a movie, but I will try. This disaster redefined what I thought of as a limp sequel, a vehicle driven by Hollywood greed. The plot, characters and situations insult our intelligence again and again, leaving me shaking my head in annoyance. Virtually every plot twist and decision made by the characters totally defies logic. A grammar school kid would not make the mistakes these "seasoned experts" did as they blundered from one scenario to the next. Lets see, they kidnap a baby T-Rex, run through the jungle covered in blood, remove ammo from each others guns, sleep with open food and bloody shirts directly next to them and scream and yell so loud that anything within a mile could hear them. Every character in this movie redefines idiocy...needless to say I rooted for the dinosaurs. That being said, the dinos did look pretty cool but even they didn't come close to saving this piece of garbage from total and complete worthlessness. Do not watch this movie under any circumstances; I think my IQ dropped 10 points in just one viewing. Spielberg should hide his head in shame.
Rating: Summary: Rampaging Dinosaurs Review: Steven Spielberg continues to thrill audiences with the amusing sequel to his 1993 landmark blockbuster, "Jurassic Park: The Lost World". When news of a second island inhabited by dinosaurs exist, billionaire John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) sends a scientific expedition including Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), to research the creatures on the island. The expedition discovers a second group determined to take the dinosaurs to the mainland. Despite having more thrilling action and impressive special effects, "The Lost World" is another example that bigger is rarely better. The storyline is somewhat uneven and most of the characters are under-developed and unmemorable. The amazing special effects and impressive action sequences barely compensate for the sequel's weak points. Jeff Goldblum and Julianne Moore provide some entertaining moments and clever lines. The cast also includes Pete Postlethwaite, Richard Schiff, Arliss Howard and Vince Vaughn. "Jurassic Park: The Lost World" DVD equals its predecessor with its stunning DVD presentation. The film is presented in its 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen format. The DVD contains a great video transfer with rich color detail and sharp resolution. The 5.1 Dolby Digital sound is excellent and offers some great surround effects and fine use of bass. Its supplemental materials include "Making The Lost World" featurette, deleted scenes, the same Dinosaur Encyclopedia, theatrical trailers and DVD ROM extras. Though not as remarkable as the original, "The Lost World" has great video and audio quality and scores a "B-".
Rating: Summary: Something Has Survived...And It's Not Too Happy! Review: Steven Spielberg returns to the world of the dinosaurs in this first sequel to his 1993 blockbuster JURASSIC PARK. It turns out that Isla Nublar, site of the original Jurassic Park, was only the finish line for the genetically engineered dinosaurs of eccentric billionaire John Hammond (Richard Attenborough). On Isla Sorna, eighty-seven miles away, the dinosaurs flourish in their natural habitat. For four years, since the accident in Jurassic Park that killed several of his employees, Attenborough has been trying to keep this Lost World free from human interference. But the accident has resulted in his InGen firm being taken over by his thoroughly unscrupulous nephew (Arliss Howard). The only way Attenborough can mount enough public support for his retaking of InGen is a complete documentation of the dinosaurs in their original habitat. Enter chaos mathematician Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), who, along with two associates (Richard Schiff, Vince Vaughan) ventures to Isla Sorna, not just to check on the dinosaurs but also to look for his girlfriend, paleontologist Sarah Harding (Julianne Moore), who is already down there. The result is an action-packed and suspense-filled adventure as Goldblum and his team must outwit not only the dinosaurs (including the obligatory T-rex and velociraptors), but also slow down the progress of Howard's team, and to stop the mayhem that will erupt in the dinosaurs' climactic rampage through San Diego. Coming off the extremely huge success of the original and the powerful triumph of SCHINDLER'S LIST is hardly the easiest task for a filmmaker to do; but then again, Spielberg is no ordinary filmmaker. He has created a sequel that expands on the original and adds some interesting twists to it. John Williams' score and the usual great special effects from Industrial Light and Magic both help to make THE LOST WORLD a very good sequel to a stunning sci-fi/suspense masterpiece. JURASSIC PARK III, minus Spielberg's direction, would follow in 2001.
Rating: Summary: A Jurassic Thrill Ride. Not as goof as the original. Review: Most sequels tend to stink and downgrade the first. This may not be as good as one but it definately is one of the most action packed and hardcore sequels. I loved the performances, especially Julianne Moore's. I am also glad you got to explore the Ian Malcom character more. The special effects improved drastically, but they did not stand out too much from the first. The movie all in all is one of my must sees. It is probably one of the best movie sequels out there, see it now.

Rating: Summary: Okay, not as good as the first Review: This movie was okay. The first one is so much better, but this one is still not bad. I thought it was awesome when the T-Rex attacked a city! I still bought it because I love the movies. See it if you like the first, but don't expect it to be better. MPAA: PG-13 Running Time: 129 minutes Year released: 1997
Rating: Summary: Too cartoony Review: Look, Julianne Moore is NOT, COULD NEVER, NEVER EVER, be an archaeologist. Ridiculous. Just ridiculous. Becoming a scientist involves LOTS of college; lots of college involved LOTS of studying; lots of studying involves saying the heck with your appearance, eat junk food, stay up late, do whatever it takes to pass this class, get this degree--all of which makes you an ugly nerd, but also makes you a scientist. Check out almost any scientist and you will find they typically have "radio faces" as opposed to the ridiculous, Baywatchesque "tv faces" which we are subject to by these cartoon-headed moviemakers. Bring back the realism of sci-fi cult classics like "Andromeda Strain" where the scientists ACTUALLY LOOKED LIKE SCIENTISTS. Wow. A little realism. Even in a B-movie, a tad little bit of realism goes far. This movie resembles a cartoon in it's casting, more than it does real life. Oh, and yes, it is very, very, very predictable. Everybody dies who is supposed to die.
Rating: Summary: Disgusting work Review: I hated this film. It was long, and didn't make sense. It tried to scare people, but it was more pathetic than scary. I don't think I even got a little bit scared in this film. This is the worst movie in the Jurassic Park Francise.
