Rating: Summary: MOVIE STARTS STRONG THAN LOSES IT IN THE END. Review: Hoffman, Stone and Jackson look so out of place in this SCI FI thriller taking place where else but space. The plot is very confusing until the end. Overall the movie has a excellent moral message for us human beings on how we live our lives more negative than positive, but the movie drowns out into a bore. I say give this one a miss. The only reason for watching it is Sharon Stones haircut and tan....She looks fabulous in this pic.

Rating: Summary: Three Words: Read The Book. Review: I am not usually a movie killer but this movie was bad. Upon hearing that this movie was being made I decided to read the book. I had seen and then read the "Andromida Strain", also by Michal Criton and thought the movie was very good (I prefer books over movies). I read the book and liked it a lot. When I watched the movie, however, I was very disapointed. Not only were key parts taken out but many parts that were left in were completely wrong. This was probaly to shorten the film but all it really did was detract from the story line. The result was basically a bad movie that probably didn't make sense and was confusing. Usually the book is better than the movie but in this case it was even more off. They slapped the same name on two different story lines. For anybody who didn't like or hated this movie I encourage you to take the time to read the book. It is much better and makes complete sense. Michal Criton has written some really good SF but it is hacked away in this movie.
Rating: Summary: a great suspensful sci-fi Review: this movie, much to my own suprise, was really great, well acted, impressive and entrancing until the very last moment. I think it's been underated in general and particulary here.
Rating: Summary: If you haven't seen it....SEE IT!!! Review: The movie Sphere was a mind boggoling movie that made me jump over 5 feet on several occasions.
Rating: Summary: Glad I got it free... Review: I recevied this DVD through a promotional offer (5 free discs with my DVD player) and I am so glad I didn't pay for it. Dustin Hoffman is just annoying, the script has so many holes you could use it to pan for gold, the special effects are average (at best)... The ONLY thing that made this worth watching was that the underwater sequences sounded awesome in 5.1 surround.
Rating: Summary: Great cast bogged down in sub ¿B¿ material. Review: How can a movie with this cast, and directed by Barry Levinson, be so bad? I've never really listen to profession critics, so I rented this expecting a pretty good film. Boy, was I ever wrong. This film miss-fires on every level. I thought I was watching a 50s 'B' film, and basically, I was. I won't go into the plot (there isn't any, at least any worth mentioning), but this film did have one thing I enjoyed, at that was seeing Peter Coyote. I was wondering what had happened to him. It's too bad his return had to be in this turkey. Between 1 and 10, "Sphere" gets a 4, and is lucky to get that.
Rating: Summary: Watch it more than once to appreciate its genius. Review: First off I would like to say, the first time I watched this movie I hated it. I thought the ending was cheesy and the cast of actors brought in on this movie was wasted. That was the first time around. The second time I started realizing just how good the plot was to this movie. An American spaceship from three hundred years in the future is found on our ocean floor in 1999. What a concept. That alone could make for a good story. But it gets better. Upon gathering a team of four scientist, they descend some 1000 feet to this ship and when its opened the secret the ship has with it is something that could be mankinds greatest discovery. They find a shimmering gold sphere. The power inside the sphere will grant that person the chance to let his or her thoughts become reality. Three of the four scientists that go down go into the sphere and being three highly educated people, they would make the best use of this gift, one would think anyway. Sadly they dont. All their worst fears come out and destroys and kills everything around them. After making it back to the surface and destroying pretty much everything they use their new found power to....well you'll have to see the movie to see what happens. You might not like it at first but after thinking about the ending you'll realize that it was a good way to end this movie. The acting was also really well done. The character that Samuel L. Jackson plays is probably one of the best he's ever played. Dustin Hoffman gives a good performance, as usual. Sharon Stone was good, but I would soon see her in Basic Instinct. The only bad casting part was Queen Latifah. She can not act. She should stick to rapping. All in all this is a good movie that you might have to give two or three showings to really enjoy.
Rating: Summary: Great Sci-fi thriller Review: I thought it was sort of kreepy at some points. The whole "going into the sphere" thing was really ery I thought. The part where the girl gets practicly eaten by the jellyfish. That part was pure genius. I was sort of confused to where the sphere actually came from. I knew that it came from somewhere in space and that the earth wasn't really ready for it. I mean think about it, it cane make your dreams come true and earthling are panicky people who wouldn't know how to use it. I just wanted to know why the alians or whatever sent it.
Rating: Summary: great Review: Come on people I don't know what you hate about this movie. I thought that it was excellent
