Summary: Jurassic one of, if not the best movie ever made.
Review: Jurassic Park is a great all around movie. It has invented a whole race of fx for current movie hits "The Matrix" "Star Wars" and so on. Perhaps the DTS 5.1 channel sound that you enjoy at the movies is the biggest impact. Now,the movie, it is so real! The T-rexs and the raptors are so scary. People say it has a bad plot and it's basic, yeah, they probaly didn't even know what DNA or cloning was. I mean this movie came out before they cloned an animal! Michael Crichton is a genius! Also what about The Lost World the only reason people gave it bad reviews is because they thought it was going to be as good as JP.Tell me how many movies as good as JP are going to come within 20 years of each other? If I could I'd give JP 100 stars! Thank you Steven for making a great movie!

Summary: The Movie that made all previous sci-fi dino films outdated
Review: The first movie to feature Dinosaurs as living creatures rather then as mindless monters. Sam Neil, Lara Dern, and Jeff Goldblum play three scientists who go to a new natural park where dinosaurs have been brought back to life. But the park turns into a nightmare when the security system designed to keep the dinosaurs in, breaks down. John Williams scored his best music (since the STAR WARS films) in this movie. This movie was to dinosaur movies, what Stanley Kubrick's 2001; A Space Odyssey was to science fiction. Continued in it's sequal The Lost World, made in 1997. Some interesting side note to the production of this movie, is that Steven left the country to start work on Schinler's List in Europe, and the actual post-production work on Jurassic Park was finished by Steven's friend, George Lucas.

Summary: Vastly Overrated
Review: Spielberg has always been a problematic director, and it is difficult to believe that the same guy who made the dreadful "Jurassic Park" came up with "Schindler's List" as his next effort.

Jurassic Park is a novelty and is very much a film of its time. When it came out, the seamless digital effects that allowed the live actors to be put in the same scene with palpably real dinosaurs created quite a stir. Now, those effects are totally pedestrian (check out the recent 2 CD set of the BBC's "Walking with Dinosaurs" if you want to get an idea of just how extensively those techniques are in use today).

Without the impact of the effects, the film is a total failure. Spielberg manages some interesting moments in the first half of the film, and there is a certain energy leading up to the arrival of the band at Jurassic Park. Once our hearty band sets off in the remotely-powered Explorers to see the park, the film goes completely to the dogs, with only the occasionally mildly interesting set piece (the T-Rexs by the fence; the scaling of the electric fence) to break the tedium. Characters come and go; who cares? The dialog is totally banal and unmemorable with some excruciatingly bad moments (e.g. the obligatory "I hate lawyers" line). What you have when you strip away the effects is a cynically minimalist story and character set, not even half developed, only there to prop up the effects show. Now that the effects are not that interesting any more, there is very little left to this film.

The sequel is far worse.

Summary: Excellent performance by actors.
Review: Best movie ever made, you don't feel FX comes in, and you just feel the vicious monster creeps in, slowly, and slowly, and slowly.....a masterpiece made by all filmmakers.

Summary: DVD Owner's Dream Come True
Review: This should be a DTS/DVD owner's dream come true. Granted this movie isn't an Academy Award winner, nor does it deserve to be. It's for pure fun, and it preforms that use almost flawlessly.

Hollywood, in the past years, seems to be cranking out the mindless movies more than it use to. 'The Mummy', 'Anacanda', and 'Lake Placid' are a few of the more recent films. Some are worse than others. However, 'Jurrasic Park' is a gem in the category. What else could be more frightening, exciting, and sometimes humorous than a bunch of dinasaurs chasing humans around a tropical island? Yeah you all know. Basically every American back in 93 went to the theaters to see this prehistoric flick. It deservingly held records for all time attendance untill Titanic took over a few years later.

The only flaw to this film is it must be watched in certain conditions. It needs the digital sound and the digital quality picture to deliver it's emotions most effectively. VHS just doesn't serve it justice. Any one that owns a DVD player, or more specifially anyone that has DTS compatable stereo equipment should be overwhelmingly excited for this film's October release onto DVD. For you few DVD owning individuals that haven't seen this film, don't worry, it's a sure thing and one of the reasons why DVD was invented. On a scale of movies made for DVD, Jurrasic Park deservingly scores four out of five stars.

Summary: Best Movie Ever Made
Review: This is the absolute best movie ever made. It has the best state-of-the-art special effects. Jurassic Park has a cast who make you believe the story is really happening. All of this put in the movie plus the best director to ever live: Steven Spielberg.

Summary: One of Spielberg's best
Review: This is one of my favorite Spielberg movies. Aside from the great special effects(even 7 years later) and excellent score, the movie is still very suspensful and imaginative.

Some people have compared Jurrasic Park to Jaws. I think this is fair but I find that Jurrassic Park has far more interesting characters and is a more enjoyable film.

Summary: A great suspense/adventure/sci-fi movie
Review: Stephen Spielberg brings dinosaurs to the screen in a way no one has or could before. The special effects are fantastic. They may be a little dated in comparison to the more recent "Lost World", but as computer generated effects (which are often done poorly in other movies), it sports some of the best. Never have I felt such awe at the sight of special effects, effects that look so real that the dinosaurs can be true characters. "Jurassic Park" contains excellent direction and good acting, escpecially from the children. The movie also finds a good balance between the suspense and the humor - and the awe. With a score by John Williams, "Jurassic Park" also has some of the greatest music of any movie. "Jurassic Park" is one of my favorites.

Summary: Who cares about plot?
Review: Admittedly, this is a spfx bonanza. That alone warrants multiple viewings. However, as is typical of Big Ole Hollywood, the story is severely disabled. Either watering down or altogether trashing the darker, more intellectual elements of the source novel, JP instead plays it safe. Sure, it is tense, exciting and involving but, did anyone else walk out of the theatre feeling empty? Did anyone else feel pandered to? As a dinosaur enthusiast, I have to recommend this film for its spectacular effects and its overall sense of fun and excitement. However, anyone seeking any depth or an exploration of thought-provoking ideas should look elsewhere. But, that's okay! Nobody cares about plot anyway, right? Just strap yourself in, shut off your brain and be pummelled into submission like a good little lamb. Everybody's doing it!

Summary: Pre-Order Now!
Review: For those of you that have been living under a rock and don't know what Jurassic Park is about, well it's about a scientist who uses DNA to bring Dinosaurs back to life. The dinosaurs live on a remote island called, you guessed it Jurassic Park. The power goes out and the dinosaurs get out of their cages then the fun begins. If you haven't seen this movie then I suggest you order it you will not be disapointed, if you have seen it then you already know what the movie is about and you really don't need to be reading my review... The special effects in this film still remain as some of the greatest in film history and the story is equally good. Highly recommended.
