Rating: Summary: A terrible waste of talent and $$$. Review: First of all, the script is abysmal. The freeway scene where Neo is separated from his friends is blatantly contrived. There could not be a freeway scene if Neo was with them with his superhuman powers. With his powers to fly, it would seem he could have dispatched those Hong Kong kung fu extras in seconds. Think about it. Stopping that many bullets in mid air would take how much force??? He should have the power of a mac truck at least. Then Trinity leaves on an offramp leaving Morpheus and Keymaker behind when the most helpful thing would be to help them out.As everyone knows, Zion was a waste. What could have been interesting to learn how 30th century or so humans lived, clogged up with abysmal dialog and performances. People in my theater showing were leaving for the exits soon after the Zion scene. Looks like some moviegoers know how to cut their losses these days and leave early. I gave it a chance but the action turned out to be nothing but video game demos. I'd rate this sequel even lower than Jurassic Park II: The Lost World, marginally better than Godzilla. Star Wars fans disillusioned by how Lucas has trashed the good ol memories should accept that Lord of the Rings is the "supreme film adventure of our time"- Time. LOTR has it beat. You're not going to find redemption or a substitute in the Matrix sequels.
Rating: Summary: I'd give it zero, but that's not an option. Review: The Matrix Reloaded is, quite possibly, the worst movie ever made. My friends and I, all Matrix fans ourselves, went to see the earliest possible screening of this aborted mess. And we wanted to like it. That is to say we cautiously wanted to like it. None of us is a big fan of martial arts movies, and that was exactly what we feared The Matrix Reloaded would turn out to be. But, instead, it was so worse. I kept my mouth shut, determined not to ruin my friend's enjoyment, until the moment when the little Chinese man says to Neo "You can never truly know someone until you fight them." WHAT? That is the stupidest, cheesiest faux-philosophical line I've ever heard. A lot of people want to say that it is "The Phantom Menace Reloaded." And how dare those people? The Phantom Menace had its problems, but this movie is just AWFUL. The special effects look like they came code-for-code out of some nintendo64 game and the story, well, what story is there really to speak of? It is all a bunch of stupid diversionary stuff (i.e.- The Marovingian) which does nothing to advance the story in any way. The first one is a pretty good, if somewhat overrated, movie. The second is just, simply, a terrible movie. It has no story, no deep philosophical meaning, and no good action sequences. The only real mystery surrounding The Matrix is why on earth people actually like this junk. Seriously, it is so bad it makes me want to vomit all over everyone who likes it.
Rating: Summary: The best movie ever! Review: I watched a newscast after the movie opened and the newscaster said that she didn't get the movie. She didn't get the first one. Her co-anchored keenly observed that "she was not deep." The action was awesome in this movie, much better, as it should be than the first. The dialogue was sparse but meaningful. A lot more action and visual communication than the first. You have to be able to make the leap from the first movie to the second. I would recommend viewing "The Matrix" if your memory is a little shaky before viewing "The Matrix Reload." It may make more sense. This is not mindless entertainment, it is thoughtful and thought provoking entertainment.
Rating: Summary: Bittersweet, but the W-brothers deliver Review: What's all the fuss about? This movie is excellent. The complaints about the first half hour of the movie need to stop. Agreed, there is little action, but that's exactly what makes the action in the rest of the movie so much greater. Yes, the Wachowski brothers wrote these series of movies as a TRILOGY! It isn't as if their writing skills turned to mush after they wrote a first movie, and they were pressed for ideas. It's the same directing skills that we have loved ever since the movie 'Bound' was released. The movie carries an amount of sub-plots and twists that will keep you at the edge of your seat and like always, wanting more action. In addition, the special effects, choreographed fight scenes, and a soundtrack feautring music by Don Davis and Juno Reactor all come together in a beautiful masterpiece that is made for DVD. Despite what all the critics of this movie may tell you, they will be there on opening night to see 'Matrix: Revolutions' when it is released. Keep up the good work Andy and Larry!
Rating: Summary: A Triumph Review: Whenever anyone enters into a serious discussion about movies either contemporary or old, The Matrix is always mentioned and compared to other movies at some point. The Matrix Reloaded, along with its predecessor, will be looked upon years from now much in the same way we now look at Casablanca or Lawrence of Arabia. The Matrix I and II really are extraordinary, both in terms of plot complexity and cinematic ingenuity. The people who give The Matrix I and II bad reviews often say that the plot is shallow or not there altogether. Most modern movies have the tendency to treat the audience like idiots and make the plot extremely easy to understand and follow, giving the audience a false perception of how deep the plot really is. The Matrix does not do this. Instead, the idea behind the Matrix is a philosophical one, one that you must ponder deeply in order to follow. For some people whose cinematic taste buds have unfortunately been burned by movies such as Swordfish or Predator, this movie comes as an offense to everything they are used to. Inevitably, therefore, many people will dislike this movie trilogy. So, if you are tired of the same old action/violence/sex movies that Hollywood pumps out these days in order to make the most money, you must see The Matrix I and II. They contain philosophy, social commentary, and in conjunction with artistic special effects, redefine modern cinema.
Rating: Summary: Too early to judge this movie? Review: There's been a wide range of responses to this movie, from those who pan it unmercifully to those who seem blind to its shortcomings. However, since this movie is not strictly a sequel, but the middle of a three-part story, it is impossible to judge it completely until it can be seen in relation to the third chapter. There are some very intriguing plot twists to be found in this chapter, which may turn out to be brilliant or ridiculous, depending on what is done with them in the next chapter. The strengths of this movie are in its plot and its special effects. The weaknesses are in the execution of these things. I know a lot of people could not stand certain elements like the mud-rave-party, which I personally enjoyed enough. Who can say how people will party when the end of the world is nigh? Then there was the "love" scene b/t Neo and Trinity. Weak, yes. Very weak. It came off without passion, but then again, I can't take off too many points for that, as nobody with reasonable expectations is seeing the Matrix movies for the love story. What we have here is not an attempt to make a Gone With the Wind or even Lord of the Rings. The W Bros did not have the luxury of a story written by Tolkein. What we have is an innovative look at some ancient themes, themes that define every hero's quest since the ancient epics. The special effects are marvelous and the story, while not always well executed, is a smart and fresh look at the timeless hero's tale told from the Odyssey to Star Wars, from Tolkein to Braveheart, from Camelot to Zion. My main point is that you should not listen too closely to the critics, including the wannabe critics writing reviews on Amazon. If you enjoyed the first Matrix movie, especially for its story elements, then this one is a must see. Its plot twists open up new levels of complexity and new possibilities. It is not a great movie by definition, but then again, neither was Star Wars.
Rating: Summary: Reloaded ... with blanks !!! Review: This movie is so bad it deserves to be smashed over and over again. Probably the wachowskys dont understand that the fans expected more from this sequel because the original was very good. Instead, they decided to create a remake of the STAR WARS saga, except that this time occurs in the Matrix. Check this if you dont belive me : Luke Skywalker ( the New Hope as a Jedi ) is Neo, The Force are Neo's powers inside the Matrix, the Millenium Falcon is the Nebuchanasser( however it is spelled ), Princess Leia is Trinity, Han Solo is Morpheous, Darth Vader is Agent Smith, The Emperor is the Architect and so forth ... Not to mention that the movie lasted 2.5 hours just to find out that the Matrix is on its 6th version. Matrix 6.0 ?? How about Matrix Advanced Server 2003 ??? Gimme a break !!!
Rating: Summary: Best Sci-fi and Action movie ever! Review: I know it is a bold statement, but I mean it! The Martix trilogy is the Star Wars for our genration. Look at all the similarties in the starwars and the matrix movies. But the Matrix Reloaded did everything Lucas did with Empire Strikes Back, but 100 times better (I dont mean speical effects). The ending to the Matrix Reloaded was one of the bet I have ever seen. So what it leaves it open. But I garuntee it will become a famous ending (Like star wars emipre strikes back) that will talked about for 100 years.
Rating: Summary: Matrix Overloaded Review: I went and saw this opening day, and I would have to say that I was somewhat dissapointed with it. First of all, the computer graphics they used (especially Neo flying) were rather poor. The story-ok. I had a hard time focusing on the dialogue since every encounter was a 15 minute conversation that was monotone much like my chemistry teacher giving a lecture. I thought the keymaker was a weak character. I did not like the way Trinity was made to seem weak when in the first Matrix she was a really strong character. This movie was way too hyped up and did not live up to the expectations I had. Maybe the third one will be better.
Rating: Summary: Best Movie Review: I seen these reviews and I have a question. To the people who didn't think that the dialouge meant anything, why did the half people on this website think it DID mean something? Are you missing out on something here?? Obviously. If you paid attention and used your brain, you would realize what these people were saying, its not rocket science to figure out the dialouge (to some it is). The plot and the dialouge and everything was great, I have never watch a movie more thought provoking than this one. Some of these people say The Bros. used cheap philosophy, what are you talking about? They are incorporating ancient and modern philophosy into their own unimaginable world!! You try and do that, then you can critique! The story is a great continuation of the first, where Neo goes into the depths of the Matrix, and finds lots of things that you and he would never suspect. But after all, its only a matter of opinion, but alot of people give bad reviews because they can not fully comprehend what is going on. But, that is why it is called the "matrix." Did you think it would be easy to understand? This is a thinking man's movie, you need to use your brain. From looking at the reviews here, its seems most people don't like to do that.
