Summary: It's very goodt but not the best.
Review: I liked very very much this movie, for it's FX, smartness, entertaining value, and for it's suspense, but i think it would be better if they cutted the nudity scenes, they ruined the whole moive, this movie wasn't predictable, and it wasn't dumb, except for the nudity scenes, but it was, I am definetly not saying that this movie is the best by Paul Verehoeven,I was expecting this movie to be based on the book by H.G Wells but it wasn't.

Summary: A Predictable Special Effects Movie
Review: I thought that Elizabeth Shue was very good in this movie. And K. Bacon was all right. But the plot is compeltely derivative. This is just another attempt to "modernize" H.G. Wells' classic book from more than a hundred year ago. Well, does the attempt succeed? I think the movie is so predictable as to make the story line dull, therefore everything relies on special effects. These certainly are superb, but they cannot save the whole project from its simplicity and less than compelling characters. All along I was conscious of the fact that I was watching actors, who trade silly barbs, and not real scientists, and that the movie would have the prosaic and by now banal end that any intelligent viewer can expect.

Summary: A Loathesome Little Piece of Work...
Review: watch makes one actually yearn for the sublimely tasteful and charming Showgirls and StarShip Troopers.

Nasty, creepy....and boring in its predictability.

Pretty ugly as Verhoeven movies tend to be.

Summary: Visually stunning, choppy plot, but still a cool movie
Review: The first time I saw the previews for "Hollow Man," I knew I had to see this movie. Of course, what I was impressed with the most by the previews were the special effects, and that was what I was most impressed with after I finally saw the movie. Sebastian (Kevin Bacon) is a genius who has already made something that can make animals completely invisible. Since the experiment works successfully with animals, Sebastian begins to wonder whether it would work or not on a human. To find out, he volunteers to be the first person the experiment is tried on. Will his new invention be as great as it sounds or will something go wrong? I recommend watching the movie to find out.

The special effects in "Hollow Man" are some of the best I've ever seen in any movie. I can't believe that it didn't win a lot of awards for best special effects of the year because they are spectacular to say the least. Plotwise, the movie seemed a bit left off. After Sebastian finds out that he is going to be invisible a little longer than expected, the movie takes a huge twist that is both compelling and unexpected. As a subplot, Sebastian isn't too happy with a past breakup with his co-worker ex-girlfriend, Linda (Elisabeth Shue). When I was a kid i used to imagine being invisible and what it would be like. "Hollow Man" appeased some of my past imaginations about being invisible and toying with people because Sebastian did tons of that in this movie.

Even though "Hollow Man" wasn't the kind of movie that I thought it was gonna be, and even though it has a choppy plot, I still thought it was a cool movie. I recommend anybody who likes watching movies with spectacular special effects or anyone who has ever had fantasies about being invisible to watch or get "Hollow Man." It's not as bad of a movie as some of the critics and some of the other reviewers are saying it is.

Summary: Hollow Man Was A Hollow Movie!!
Review: This was one of the worst pictures I've ever seen. The trailers make it look appealing, but it really is just a stupid-plotted movie. Kevin Bacon harasses women the entire movie and at the end, the movie turns into a bloody gore fest. Just horrible!!

Summary: Great special effects, so-so story
Review: This is a neat sci-fi idea built around its special effects possibilities. We have a scientist (Kevin Bacon) working with a team of scientists including his former love interest (Elizabeth Shue) toward making a living creature invisible. They are contracted to do this for the military.

Kevin Bacon has a stroke of good luck in solving a problem they are having (making things visible again) and they proceed to try this out with near tragic results on one of the animals. Flushed with his success Kevin Bacon tries to rekindle his relationship with his former flame Elizabeth Shue. One comment here, through the entire movie she says one thing and her body language another, an interesting counterpoint. You don't know whether it was bad acting or a part of the story that was shelved. It is almost like she baits him to kick him in the teeth. She and another lab member are involved and they wisely opt to keep this a secret from him.

Needless to say from the ads you know Kevin Bacon ends up invisible. I'd rather not tell you why or the particulars as it will ruin the story.

However, it soon becomes a debate whether the chemical or the freedom of being invisible changes his character, and not for the better. His character is a bit egotistic to start and this does not improve things.

The special effects are great, the acting is decent, however, the story is predictable and could've used a bit more effort.

Some of the violence at the first 10 seconds of the movie was upsetting and some toward the end as well. Also if you get grossed out looking at anatomy pictures of veins, and organs this is not the movie for you.

There was some nudity as well.

Summary: NUTRITIONALLY VOID EYE CANDY
Review: Truly an awful film. The special effects, as you've probably read from other reviews are indeed mind-blowing. The FX Coordinator on this project really deserves an Oscar for this work, because your jaw will drop in amazament. Realistic, lifelike, and extremely detailed. Now, if only this applied to the rest of the movie.

Insulting to the intelligence on so many levels, the story is needlessly vulgar and downright stupid. From the concept of late 20's/early 30's MTV-generation scientists (who are so hip it hurts) having free reign and unlimited Pentagon budgets to the almost totalitarian power of Kevin Bacon's character, the whole thing drips with smarminess and in-your-face idiocy. Bacon's character is so obsessed with sex and power, it's hard to imagine him being able to concentrate long enough on his experiments for them to be even remotely successful. A couple of torture-to-animals scenes (albeit computer-generated) were unnecessary. The whole thing was just a revolting mess. A true waste of time and effort on all parts.

Avoid this one.

Summary: Ain't only the man that is hollow!
Review: Where have we gone wrong in American films? Used to be that people went to the movies to be entertained, uplifted, view heroic exploits, relax and come home refreshed. We seem to be beseiged by a flood of gratituous gore, insanity and violence. This movie has many excellent special effects, but is certainly not something to see with your children (of any age). It is not only the man that is hollow, but the whole bloody thing.

If 4th or 5th graders were asked what they would do if they were invisible, and you might, if they were honest, get answers like 'peeking into the girls' bathroom'. From there, the movie rapidly degenerates into a virtual blood bath with the hero/villain having nearly super-human strength and powers.

This is easily one of the worst, most disturbing movies I have seen in several years. It was a true waste of time for me and the family. It truly was a hollow movie with very little redeeming value in sight.

Summary: What would you do if you could be invisible?
Review: "Hollow Man" is "The Invisible Man" meets "Friday the 13th".

I gave this film three stars for it's effects and for Kevin Bacon. If the film were void of both these, it would be a big waste of time. Kevin Bacon is very good as the Doctor that volunteers himself to be turned invisible, and he is the first human to do so. They can't get him to turn visible again __ oh no! Bacon takes advantage of being invisible, and wrecks havoc all over the place. From sexually assaulting a woman he watches from his apartment to killing people, and copping a feel from his fellow female employees. Eventually, along with his flesh he loses his mind, and goes on a killing spree. This isn't a great horror film, but it's got great visual effects during the process of invisible to visible and vice versa. Seeing a giant gorilla reappear and Kevin Bacon disappear are both very graphic and kind of gross but wow! -- whoever created these effects deserves an oscar (The film was nominated for Best Visual effects). In my opinion, the film doesn't have much else going for it. The rest of the acting is pretty bad. Elizabeth Shue needs to either get a new career or at least some acting lessons. She turned in a very lame performance. The screenplay wasn't much better. Rent Hollow Man for a look at it's great effects and it's great lead actor Kevin Bacon.

Summary: Freaky
Review: A project is given to a group of scientists by the U.S. Military to make a man invisible and allow him to become revisible, with no side effects. Sounds like a good way to build up our defense in a war situation doesn't it? Testing on dogs and apes is ok and the results are just what the military is looking for. However one scientist decides not to release the breakthrough in fear of loosing the project after all thier hard work. He decides to take the final step and test on a human without consent of the military, who does he test on, but himself!! Everything seems to be going great but then he has trouble becoming visible agian. His team try the best they can to fix the problem with no success, soon he decides to take adavatage of his invisible state and the horror really begins for his team and anyone else that gets in his way. A heart pounding movie with so much suspense and awesome special effects that will guarantee to keep your blood flowing. If you like movies that will keep you on the edge of your seat, this is a movie you will not regret!
