Summary: How stupid are people who don't like this?
Review: The brief reviews of "Starship Troopers" made me speechless and angry. What the hell are these people expecting from this SF/action movie? This film features the best FX in movie history, the plot is very original, the film also includes a great atmosphere and incredible good action scenes, how could you ask for more? Good acting? The acting isn't the best in movie history, but that's really not important in "Starship Troopers". A must-see for intelligent people who can enjoy well-made SF films. One of my all-time favourites! PS: I generally like SF movies, but I really hate MST3K.

Review: Every thing about this movie is cool, the visual and sound fx are outstanding, the plot is the only downside of the movie ,it's a little thin, hey you can't have everything can you? There are only two sci-fi movies that i would rate higher ,they are ,Star Wars and Aliens... If you love sci-fi movies then Starshiptroopers is a MUST

Summary: IHATE THIS MOVIE!
Review: This is the worst movie ive ever seen,and I men every word of it. The acting sucks, and that particular violence is not entertaining. Still if you're an older man who hates children, and like to see them get ripped to pieces, then you can take you're sick sorry ass to see this awful movie.

Summary: Unusually violent black comedy?
Review: This film most resembles Robocop in its mixture of very black humor and brutal action. The effects are superb (easily as good if not better than Star Wars Episode 1) and they bring to life the Earth of the future. But the earth is a weird kind of place where everyone is good looking, or brilliant and there seems to be no poverty. But there is the evil bug planet... The brutal action demonstrates that war is hell but it is also some kind of comment on the strange militaristic society depicted in the film. The characters are sort of cardboard cutouts, but as someone else said here, the film is really more like a bringing to life of a old fashioned sci-fi comic story. The film also has a lot of humor in it. The news/TV flashes, like the ones in Robocop, are often hilarious and the sheer narrative drive of the story ensure that you are caught up in the action. If you hate violent films then you will probably hate this too. The violence is clearly not "real" though (since when have you seen giant man-killing bugs?), so much less disturbing than Saving Private Ryan. If you have a black sense of humor and enjoyed Robocop, then this is probably a movie you will want to own. A classic of sci-fi action film.

Summary: One of the most entertaining movies I've ever seen
Review: Personally, I loved this movie. I liked the book even more, but if you can watch the movie without trying to compare it to the book it's really entertaining. Yes the acting sucks, yes the powered armor from the book has dissapeared, yes the script sucks, but it's so d*** entertaining! The special effects sequences are amazing and the movie really gets rolling once it passes the idiotic scenes of Rico's high school. Also with all the negative views of the military being presented in the film industry today it's nice to see soldiers as heros not villans.

Summary: It's a fun movie.
Review: I saw the movie and read the book. I think the movie took about as much as it could from the book. For instance, I don't think the characters could interact very well jumping around in super spacesuits. The book is excellent, the movie is also. The only reason I am giving a 4 star rating is because we didn't get to meet Carmen's twin sisters.

Review: At first pass, a fun flick. After re-reading the book after seeing it (my fifth time reading the novel), I realized how much it sucked. The only two saving graces were the JOHN RODGER (nice ship design) and the visualization of the bugs. Otherwise, a complete waste of time.

Review: I always thought that Star Wars (i saw it for the first time in 1980) was the best movie ever...Well, that all changed in January '98 when Starship Troopers was released in the Netherlands. This is really the best movie that i have ever seen and one of my all time favorites!!! It's also one of the most highly underrated movies. It should at least have won the oscar for best special effects in 1998. Phil Tippet and crew certainly deserved a gold statue for their creation of the incredible bugs. Starship Troopers is full of energy, has a great story, beautiful art design and costumes. The music by Basil Poledouris fits the movie well with it's bombastic military themes (the Tango Urilla theme is my favorite). Although it wasn't a huge box-office hit, i really think that Starship Troopers will find it's audience. This movie is simply to good to be ignored by people. I have it on DVD, and it's amazing.
