Summary: Armageddon is one of the best movies of all time.
Review: I love Ben Affleck, and I loved his work in this movie. It made me laugh, cry, and had me guessing what was going to happen next. I, as well as my whole family loved it, and are proud to say that we bought it the day it came out on video. I thougtht it was so much better than Titantic, and even though many critcs didn't enjoy it, it was the biggest movie of 1998.

Summary: Great Movie - Family Thriller
Review: We've seen this DVD over and over. Kids love it. It's been money well spent! Sure it's not the most believeable story but it's Hollywood at it's best! If you want realism go to work! If you want to be entertained watch this video!

Summary: Terrible.
Review: This is one of the worst movies I have seen - right up there with Titanic. The dialogue is terrible, acting is poor, it's totally propagandistic, and it is definitely a manufactured blockbuster. This is perfectly made for the typical middle America can't think for themselves piece of cr-p. They have the cute and cheesy romance for the girls and blowing up for the guys. This is mindless entertainment! Go get the movie Blue with Juliette Binoche and make yourself do a little thinking. Or better yet pick up a book! This trash is an embarrassment to modern society! Liv - she can't act. Bruce - go back to acting school. Michael - stick to doing commercials. I find this so disturbing that people actually like this film!

Summary: An embarrassment.
Review: This movie can't even be interesting in a derivative way: prime example #1 is that shot of the Roughnecks marching cheek-by-jowl in slo-mo toward the camera . . . they could at least have SENT UP that scene from "The Right Stuff", rather than merely stealing it. What do I know -- maybe just the fact that they're roughnecks rather than astronauts is supposed to be the big joke. Speaking of which, the idea of there even being a "best roughneck in the country" just . . . blows me away, man. Gee whiz, who knew? I mean, what's next? A He-Man Coal Miners Competition?

The only funny scene in the movie is Buscemi riding a warhead a la "Dr. Strangelove". Thank God he's in this garbage -- imagine the film without him! As it is, the director, Michael Bay, has foolishly atttempted to create a movie that tries to (literally!) be a rollercoaster. The action feels like the equivalent of 30 Bose speakers in a closet, at full volume: you're begging for relief. (This is the NOISIEST film I have ever seen in my life, btw.) Incredibly, you DO get relief from the constant onslaught of noise and jump-cuts, in the form of a blarney "love story" between two attractive people who cannot act. These "romantic" vignettes are dripping with honey-colored, luxury car-commercial light; a hideous heavy metal "ballad", performed by the father of the actress in question, can be heard rather too clearly. TV commercial sensibilities. But Mr. Bay, after all, used to direct TV ads, and therefore doesn't know the first thing about narrative, suspense, characterization, skillfully done action sequences, &c. For the last time, Mr. Bay: a Movie Is Not A Shoe Advertisement . . . Or Even A Rock Video.

Summary: Good action but weak.
Review: Special effects were great. Action was high intensity. Too bad the story had too many faults and was very misogynistic.

Summary: My god, why couldn't they offer zero stars!!!
Review: Hmmmmm. Hey, I got an idea. The earth is gonna blow up if we don't stop this meteor, so...let's send some oil drillers onto the meteor to destroy it. Of course, I guess we should have also sent along a few plumbers, and maybe a carpenter or two. Yup, but they'd better be careful. If the meteor finds out what they're up to, it might bomabard them with SMART METEORS. Good thing Ben Affleck is experienced at CANYON HOPPING, or else the rest of the crew might be in real trouble. Oh yeah, I really liked this movie. Sarcasm? Me? Did Armageddon have plot holes? Oh, yeah. It did. Sorry.

Summary: Armageddon is the Best movie in the entire world!
Review: This movie is my favorite mostly because it includes sexy Ben Affleck and Hottie Bruce Willis (what was Demi thinking??) I loved the plot and the story! My favorite parts were the animal cracker scene and especially the part where Ben picks up Liv and sings to her! that was so romantic! Everyone who had poor reviews of this movie are too critical! I'd like to see them make a movie!

Summary: A terrible excuse for a movie. Awful. Absolutely awful.
Review: This movie was so awful. I can't believe that so many people liked it. Liv Tyler is the WORST actress I have ever seen in a long time. She's terrible! The whole 'romance' between her and Ben Affleck was disgusting. They were so corny it made me sick. I usually enjoy Ben Affleck's perfomances, but he was something else in this movie. Armageddon is something I never want to see again. It was a complete waste of time.

Summary: Definite Improvement
Review: In my opinion, this movie, with the exception of Billy Bob, Affleck, and Buscemi (one of my faves), this is the kind of flick you watch when there's nothing else on TV but infomercials. However, I recently got the chance to watch the Criterion edition, and it was a vast improvement over the other releases, largely due to the Behind-The-Scenes takes, the commentary, and the outtakes. You know a movie's bad when the "Making-Of" film is better than the film itself.
