Summary: beyond horrible!!!
Review: I am one of the biggest fans of aliens movies, but I was very disappointed with this one. The whole cast is terrible and so is the plot. The only thing that saves this picture are some solid action scenes but that's about it. If you thinking about buying this one, rent it first!!!

Summary: An even further mindless milking of the Alien franchise
Review: After I watched the third film, I felt sick and tired of Aliens and didn't want anything more to do with them. I watched the fourth movie, hoping it would undo the damage done by the third,I found it to be even worse. The plot, for those who still care, involves the usual yarn about people trying to escape from a spaceship infested with aliens. You know what to expect. The aliens will pop out from behind objects and corners to say "Boo!" and people will get evicerated, but only three at most will survive to board a spaceship, after the original site has been blown up, only to discover that (yawn) an alien somehow snuck onboard the ship with them, and it will be unceremoniously flushed into outer space.

That's the standard formula. It worked in the first two films, so why doesn't it work this time? The characters are cardboard, and even less sympathetic than the ones in ALIEN 3. Winona Ryder is very out of place in the movie, and when we find out she is an android (Wouldn't the androids be improved by now? I mean, it's 200 hence.)it makes her character even more baffiling. Sigourney Weaver is the best thing in the movie, but she serves no purpose in the film other than, perhaps, to attract the audience once more. She isn't exactly the heroine this time, because she's an instinctive half alien clone.

This movie is also directed as if it were Jurassic Park instead of Aliens. The monsters aren't handled correctly at all. Finally, the climax of the movie manages to be extreemley contrived and unconvincing at the same time. Essentially, this is an "out of sight, out of mind" movie.

Summary: Good for a sequel
Review: This 4th movie was leaps and bounds over the 3rd movie, but it still falls short of being at the level of the 1st and 2nd movie. I recommend skipping the 3rd movie if your watching the series for the first time.

Summary: Not worth the effort
Review: It isn't fair that after more than fifteen years of a kick-ass trilogy, the Alien series should culminate in this. On paper, it looks kinda cool, but... oh, just don't. Every time Alien Ressurection looks as though its gonna get seriously wicked, the story wusses out. The fuss over the Newborn? It looks terrible, like a cross between ET and the slug-thing in Hellraiser, and has far worse puppetry than either of them. The Aliens themselves are reduced to trained dogs - pushing buttons to kill guards and prancing around on ladders. ANYTHING that was remotely scary about HR Giger's (who doesn't get a credit) original designs is taken away. ON the plus side, however, Sigourney Weaver's new take on Ripley is very interesting, and the underwater sequences look too cool. But you've seen the best of these in the ads, and the new Ripley can come across as a tad unsympathetic. Winona Ryder's character is ridiculously under-used - she comes across as a whiny android who got kicked off the set of Blade Runner.

Joss Whedon is a fine writer, as the wonderfully satiric Buffy the Vampire Slayer has proven, but here his jokey script goes WAY over the top. If there has to be another\Alien film, get someone like David (Unforgiven/Blade Runner) Peoples to do the re-write.

And let us never see the travesty that was the Newborn again - believe me, it really is that bad.

Summary: not bad
Review: It was ok but defenitely a disapointment from all the other alien movies

Summary: A worthy sequel to the previous three Alien movies!
Review: An exciting, fast-paced movie, with some surprising and frightening scenes. Sigourney Weaver did an excellent job with a difficult part. And, with her "ressurrection", left the door open for a "5th" alien movie.

Summary: OK, not the BEST of the ALIEN film, but.........
Review: I have been an ALIEN film fan since the getgo; afterall, ALIEN, much like 2001 and CLOSE ENCOUNTERS, was (and still is) a groundbreaker. The ALIEN films that followed were all retreads, sure, but what's the difference? Sigourney. I'm probably one of the few who actually thought ALIEN 3 was better than ALIENS, and far darker and deeper. (Besides this, what company jerk was allowed to "edit out" that absolutely essential sequence at the beginning of ALIENS wherein Ripley discovers that her only daughter had aged and died back on earth--- while Ripley, herself, was in hypersleep? Another company jerk edited a few other not-so-essential sequences out, as well. The entire, uncut film was only aired on tv a few years ago. This film should be re-released in its entirety sans edits. Agreed?) At any rate, I wasn't disappointed with ALIEN RESURRECTION at all. Sigourney was "back"... and, this time, a really "bad girl." I thought she was a kick. The film holds up no better or worse than the other "sequels." And, besides, we're supposed to leave our disbelief at the door, aren't we? The ALIEN quartet makes music because of Sigourney's Ripley. You either buy the whole, or you don't. And, meanwhile, ALIEN RESURRECTION is still at a price that is out-of-the-ballpark. This says something, I think.

Summary: And I thought Alien 3 sucked!
Review: Terrible addition to a once great franchise. I thought after the depressing Alien 3 it had to get better. NOT SO. this is by far the worst of the series--stock characters, with no insight to seemingly illogical actions taken by them. And CG effects that look like...well CG effects! Plot made little sense and one could fly a 747 through the holes in the script. Please don't make any more alien movies, if you can't do better than this---------just rewatch the first two.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Same formula, same effects, new Alien
Review: I found Alien Resurrection to be neither the best nor the worst of the series. Any series fan who put up with Alien 3 will cheer the return to the almost trademark script/action/effects. Still, there's only so much you can do in the familiar viewing environment of a large space ship infested by aliens. Winona Ryder sure is cuter than Lance Henriksen, and Sigourney Weaver is terrific, but personally I'd like to see the Aliens make it to earth. Now that would be worth watching!!!
