Summary: A very goo conclusion to an amazing series.
Review: Jurassic Park 3 is a fine conclusion to one of my favorite series. Sam Neil is back as Alan Grant in this action packed adventure. This may not have the best story, it isn't mind twising genetics but is very well done. The visuals are jaw dropping and the acting is great. This is bette than the lost World although not better than the original.

Grade A

Summary: Surprisingly the second best of the three
Review: I was disappointed the first time I saw this picture. But that was at a drive in, where the picture quality was not great. Plus the plot was paper thin: Airplane crashes into dinosaur island, people try to get off dinosaur island.

But after getting it on video, I changed my mind a bit. Yes, the plot is still just a vehicle for showing off the special effects. And they brought in some of the actors from the original, who must have been it strictly for the paycheck, as a way to keep the audience interested. And I'm sure Steven Spielberg's role as producer consisted of a few long-distance phone book.

But I have to admit, it did hook me. And I even like it better than the Part II. The reason is that I didn't care for many of the characters in Part II. Out of all the people to bring over from Part 1, Malcom was one of the least I was interested in. so while they were in it for the paycheck, I at least had a bit of care left from Part 1.

But center stage has to be kept for the effects themselves. You not only get a lot more minutes than the first film, but there has been an improvement in the quality. When we see the pteradactyl coming out of the fog for the first time, it's truly creepy. And it's also a film that keeps the kids interested.

Review: Jurassic Park, it is one of the greatest sci-fi/thriller ever. This one isn't the best of the three(it's probably the second best in my opinion. It is much different from the other two though. the storyline is totally different from the other two. The special effects are wonderful! The story isn't as complex as the others. i would reccomend this.

Summary: What Were They Thinking?
Review: JURRASICK PARK III is a movie that I remember asking myself - did Sam Neil (Merlin, Bicentennial Man, Event Horizon) read the script before doing this? Yes it's got state-of the-art CG (Computer Graphics) dinosaurs and incredible integration of live-action, animation and animatronics but it didn't have the most important element, a story. Sam does an incredible acting performance as the 'Dinosaur Man', but even he can't save this one. And now I know why Spielberg just produced this one.

The premise is very simple, two, not-to-intelligent people hang glide near the Isle's of Prehistoric land and one happens to be a very resilient child played by Trevor Morgan (The 6th Sense, The Patriot, The Rookie). Of course the two divorced parents played by Tia Leoni (The Family Man, Deep Impact, Hollywood Ending) and William H. Macy (Pleasantville, Boogie Nights, Air Force One) convince Sam Neil and young and impulsive scientist played by Alessandro Nivola (Inventing The Abbots, Love's Labor Lost, Carolina) to come along and the rest is completely predictable. The new twist is that the Raptors now communicate with each other and plan and plot. All they needed were suits and ties and they would lawyers. There were several eat-away characters (people that you don't know as talent that end up being Dinosaur lunch) that didn't stand out except the limited comic relief of the talent of Michael Jeter (The Green Mile, Patch Adams, Mouse Hunt ).

This one was directed by Joe Johnston (The Rocketeer, October Sky, Jumanji ) and it seems he went for the predictable sure camera style in giving us the threat of danger and it seemed the performances might have been pushed and more formula then natural and developed.

Technically the film is sharp and interesting to look at, but it reality it is a slow moving and typically cheats with camera moves and jump scares in very obvious places. Overall the young crowd will like the dinosaur attacks and actions but the adults, like me might yawn a little. (9-9-02)

Summary: Very Interesting-Keeps you watching
Review: Jurassic Park III is basically about a set of parents who are split up and they let their son go on a trip with a couple of their friends. Their son never returns nor do his escorts. The island the boy and his chaperones were moving around was off-limits, a law by the government because it has said to have exotic, and very dangerous creatures living on it. Most citizens assume they are dinosaurs because of the widely know adventures of Dr. Alan Grant on another series of islands. And so do the parents now. So, the parents call Dr. Grant and ask him to give them a tour of the islands, never mentioning their son and his disappearance. They say they are very rich, still a married couple and give him a fake check for $1,000,000. He reluctanly agrees, and they fly to the ring of islands. The parents order the plane down (so they can look for their son) but Dr. Grant knows their are dinosaurs on this island so he tells them they better not. To their luck the plane crashes instead because they were flying to low and they are now strandes on a dinosaur filled island. All the find is one of the chaperones tied up his parachute, dead, and rotting due to 8 weeks of being stuck in a net hung from a tree, and their son no where to be seen. Now they need to avoid raptors, T-rex's, many more, plus, a new species they never knew existed. One more problem, the raptors are smarter than they thought.

Summary: Not worth its weight in celluloid
Review: "Where's the beef?" I said to a friend as I watched this film. Where is The intelligent characters that is always associated with these movies? Where is the interesting plot that is always found while watching this series? Where is the common sense that made this series a step above a mindless special effects movie? I asked myself these questions and more while I was wasting my time watching this movie, that was mind numbing at best. A movie that was really only made to capitalize on two much better films. Spielberg was right to walk away from this film, and judging by the lack of a real story; any self respecting director would do the same. At a mere ninety minutes, it manages to insult the viewer in ways that can only be contributed in the lack of respect of for the material at hand. Every thing from the acting to the special effects is awful and the directing is lazy attempt to copy what Spielberg did with the others movies in this series. This film was only made to please simpletons who rather foam at the mouth and charge at their cages other than for the real fans who loved the interesting characters, plot points and story telling that made this series respectable. Even the Carnosaur films were better than this movie, and that's a sad thing to say because all of them were horrible rip offs of this series. Stay with the other two movies and let's completely forget this one. Wait for a real Jurassic Park 3 that actually follows the events and quality of The original, and The Lost World.

Summary: 'Crammed with plenty of thrills'
Review: When you're watching a movie about dinosaurs you want everything to be big! Big reptiles, big special effects and big frights. The latest instalment in the Jurassic Park series delivers that and more. Sam Neill, reprising his role as the grizzled Dr. Alan Grant, is now working as a palaeontologist, and has vowed never to have anything to do with live dinos again. But when a 14 year old boy goes missing on the island, he finds himself persuaded to help in the search and-taking his assistant (rising star Alessandro Nivola) and some mercenaries -sets off in a chartered plane.
Unfortunately, the plane crashes and the group becomes stranded. The rest of the movie becomes a race to see who will get off the island and who will become lunch for any number of big, bad reptiles. The plot is largely secondary however- the dinosaurs are the stars of this show, and the boy. Giving our plucky heroes most trouble are of course the Veliciraptors (who can now communicate-isn't evolution a wonderful thing?), although the tooth-baring Tyrannosaurus also proves to be a significant obstacle. Best of all, though, are the very scary Spinosaurus and the flying reptilian Pteranodons. Crammed with plenty of thrills, Jurassic Park 3 is loud, crashing monster movie fun.

Summary: Not only is it a bad sequel, its one bad movie, period...
Review: I love bad movies, and I can sit though them with a perverse delight but this was bad, really bad. So bad that I can't even believe that the studio let this movie be release. First off, it's not even a sequel to the other films in the series. It's more of a remake, and a bad one to boot. The whole story makes no sense, and the acting is flat out laughable. Sam Neil, who was great in the first movie, gives a horrible performance in the third and the rest of the cast follows suit with his example. The sad part about all of this is the fact that there was no hint of effort made to make this movie even remotely any good, it just looks like they were all just looking for a pay check. Granted The Lost World was no where near as good as the original but it's a masterpiece compared to this. Word of advice; keep as far away from this film. It's probably worse than Jaws the revenge (Yes, The movie is that bad.)

Summary: Not too bad at all...
Review: After being wowed when I was a lot younger by the original Jurassic Park, and then being completely disappointed by The Lost World, I went into Jurassic Park 3 not knowing what to expect, and I came out pleasently surprised. Sam Neill returns (thank God, he was great in the first film) as paleontologist Alan Grant who, along with his assistant, is hired to be a guide for a seemingly wealthy couple played by William H. Macy and Tea Leoni. We soon find out that the couple are really looking for they're son who is stranded on Isla Sorna, the island that The Lost World took place on. While the storyline is predictable, and the ending is overly hokey and corny, the fast paced action and suspense make JP3 work. The special effects have really come a long way since the first two films, the dinosaurs look so real you can reach out and touch them. The DVD is packed with special features, most of which you'll dig if dinosaurs are your thing. All in all, JP3 may not be as good as the original film, but it sure beats Lost World.

Summary: OH, PLEASE!
Review: I can't believe how bad this movie was. I didn't expect much (I never do out of sequels like these), but this movie fell beneath any expectation. The movie has no plot, unless of course you consider a bunch of people running from dinosaurs for 90 minutes entertaining.
There are some movies that should just be left alone after the first. I thought we learned that with JAWS. Yes, it was fun to watch a shark terrorizing the coast for one movie, but it got really old, really fast after that. Here is another example of an idea overdone. Stay away from this one.
