Summary: COULD HAVE BEEN ALOT BETTER!!!
Review: I cant really say that this was a horrible movie or a great one because it was just okay.The movie had some great action scenes and some great characters,but they left out too many characters and included some really weak characters.The movie did not really follow the comics story very well and this was a big downfall.The actors did a good job and the story was okay.I cant stand the toad character and the mindless sabretooth.Overall,I cant recommend getting this one so instead get the sequel because it was alot better.

Summary: An excellent adaptation
Review: In addition to Batman and X2, this is one of the only film adaptations to remain true to the comic, while also producing an excellent film. Although I can't stand Bryan Singer, he did an incredible job directing this film. Fans of the Marvel Series won't be dissapointed that all of their favorite mutants are included, and the characters are developed fairly well, given that this is a difficult task to do with so many characters.The 1.5 DVD is a must, even if you already own the original DVD. The extra features on the bonus disc are well worth the extra cost. This thing is packed with featurettes, commentaries, and is really entertaining to watch. If you're a fan of the comic book, you'll love the bonus features on the DVD.

Summary: One of the best adaptations of a comic book ever
Review: X-Men was a great movie in my mind. It may not have followed the comic completely, but people have to realize that is going to happen when you have hundreds of individual X-Men titles and only a two hour movie. I do not care that Angel and Beast where not in the movie, or that Iceman was just a kid. The only characters I missed were Gambit and Psylocke. Wolverine is the most popular X-Men character, which makes sense why the film (and the second one) revolves around him, but I think they did a great job in making all of the other characters individuals as well, and not just there. And for all the people who disagreed with Ian McKellan as Magneto I just have to say that I too did not think it was a good casting choice to begin with, but I quickly changed my mind upon seeing the movie. McKellan is a superb Magneto. For those who complained that he was too old, do not forget that Magneto was a teenager during World War II back in the early 1940s. He WOULD be in his late 60s early 70s at this point (McKellan himself is 64 and was born in 1939, the year the war BEGAN). Do not be led astray by Magneto's youthful appearance in the comics. He is an old man.
In close I just have to say that the best is yet to come in the X-Men world. As cool as I think Magneto is, I believe the better X-Men villains, Mr. Sinister and Apocalypse, will make for an even better movie.

Summary: A huge step for Marvel and 20th Century Fox.
Review: It's very interesting that 20th Century Fox was the first major movie studio that Marvel started a relationship with in terms of movie deals. In 1993, they agreed to the formation of seeing the X-MEN as a feature film, and thus was the first really solid agreement that Marvel had with a movie studio to get their charecters made as feature films. Over the years and with the release of both X-MEN and X2 (as well as X-MEN 3 now on the drawing board). Marvel and 20th Century Fox are now ready to do even more movie business together and hopefully see the release of very good successful movies, the likes of which we have not seen since STAR WARS. While Marvel has done business with other movie studios. The relationship with Fox has been the best. The studio has given them the resources, talent, and budget needed to do these movies in a way that will entertain the movie audiences, and also the FOX DVD production is among the best in the business. I hope Marvel ends up doing 90% of all their movie deals with 20th Century Fox.

Summary: About time!
Review: It's about time they did a major motion picture on the X men. Overall the movie was great. It's easy for someone who hasn't followed them through the years (comics) to get into the movie. I thought the choice in cast was great. Except for some minor discrepencies between the movie and the Marvel Universe, this movie rocked.

Review: good comic book movie and it really is action packed, but some parts are boring and then it picks up the pace. but theres enought razzle dazzle action to go along with it and it pays off. for fans only, others who dont like this dont watch it.Hugh JAckman is great as Wolverine, but what im looking for is Gambit, he should be in this one, the sequels much better

Summary: If you've got to have the latest and greatest...
Review: Fox has given this one another of their superior DVD treatments. Primary among the extras are the deleted scenes. Usually, you can understand why scenes were exiled. In this case, it makes you wonder what director Brian Singer was thinking. Most of the material that was cut helps explain the character motivations beyond anything that had previously been seen. The relationship between Jean Grey and Wolverine actually gets some meaning to it. It helps delve into Rogue's mind a bit more as well. The movie itself is curiously involving despite it's shortcomings. Is it great, no. The special effects are though. The performances, for the most part, are very good. And, it rarely falls below good. Best of all, it doesn't take itself too seriously. Now, if only Anna Paquin could decide if she's going to actually have an accent through the whole movie (No Kevin Costner jokes.) This DVD was released to capitalize on the pending success of "X-2: X-Men United" and as such only adds a slight bit to the canon of the film itself. If you have the first edition, you should still live on happily enough.

Summary: very cool superhero flick
Review: X-men had everything it needed. The cgi and special effects were awesome. This was funny,breathtaked and action packed.X-men had some cons. 1 it should of been longer. 2 the ending was just a little to much of a cliffhanger 3 should have had more x-men. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give x-men a 9. 104 min rated PG-13 starring Hugh Jackman,Patrick Stewart.

Summary: Good movie, but not as great as Spider-Man.
Review: It's rather amazing that Byran Singer was able to create as much of the X-Men and their world on film when you consider that this movie only had a budget of $75 million to work with. It was in the words of Patrick Stewart, "This is the X-Men and who they are, and that's all we can tell you right now." Smaller scale picture with a smaller cast of charecters helped you follow the movie better and made you like it more. This was done about two years before Spider-Man (a movie which really established the look and feel of the Marvel Movie Universe) and something which is really absent in X2. The over-rated X2 had too many characters and a convoluted plot. Factors that have bogged down the X-Men comics for years. One hopes that when they do X3, it will have the look and feel of a film set in the Marvel Universe, but will also have a better story to work with. Just like the first X-Men movie did.

Summary: Extra stuff rules!
Review: Some parts of the extra stuff on the second disk is tedious, such as when what seems like the entire production staff introduces themselves, but the rest is great! My personal favorites include a seaman's song backstage near the flooded island/first metal apparatus appearance scene and Famke Janssen and James Marsden impersonating each other. The optional commentary on the first disk is also very interesting to listen to once you've got the storyline down.
