Summary: I CAN'T HELP IT - OVERALL, I REALLY LIKED IT
Review: Critics have done everything to this movie but set up a film-burning session for it, but I just couldn't dislike enough parts of it to give it a thumbs-down. Having read the book, I looked forward to the movie with great anticipation. True, it was long, it didn't follow the book as well as I would have liked, and the "Mr. Postman, you bring hope..." line was just cheesy enough to border on sickening, but I still liked it overall. I also like the idea that when I read the book again, I will be better able to visualize the characters, thanks to this movie. I'll admit that I'd have to wait awhile before I'd be in the mood to watch it again, but this is how I also felt about Kevin Costner's other lengthy movies, "Dances With Wolves" and "Waterworld". I'm more of a sci-fi movie fan, so I can't in all fairness compare it to "Dances With Wolves", but I definitely liked it better than "Waterworld".

Summary: Postman delivers junk mail to junk plot
Review: So here you have it. 3 hours of junk. Maybe the first 30 minutes is good. But when he finds his uniform, stop the tape. Unless you want to see weak dialouge, bad acting, etc. My favorite scenes are two. When Costner's says "Your weird". And Will Patton finds out Cosnter is really. Shakespear. He does a terrible Shakespear show to kids. Skip this one.

Summary: Not great but so what
Review: Not every movie is Citizen Kane, but so what. This is a popcorn movie, pop some, sit back and wonder if this couldn't be true someday, one man stepping forward and stitching together a country, even unintentionally. This movie shows how an idea can be a beacon for others. We seem to show each year that the critics may hate a movie, but Mr. and Mrs. Joe Viewer find something they do not. If you like alternative history (or in this case alternative history yet to be made) check this one out.

Summary: A disaster
Review: It is one of the worst movies I've seen. All that money for nothing. They could give it to the charity and prevent things that happened in the movie. The movie is too long, too boring, and after watching it you feel empty and disappointed and you regret the money for the ticket.Don't do that to yourselves.

Summary: This Movie is Very Enjoyable
Review: I found this movie to be very good. Throughout the picture i was rivited to the screen. The story line is very well done, it starts out a little slow, but builds nicely to a wonderful and complete ending. However, I did feel that the ending was a little contrived and could have been a little more realistic. I also felt the movie was a little too long, it could have been done just as well at 2 hours. Other than that, I would say go buy it, rent it or get to see it any way you can. Well worth the trip.

Summary: I beg you not to watch "the postman"
Review: I am SO angry I have wasted THREE HOURS of my life watching this movie. I was convinced it was horrible by the first hour, but i was forced to watch the rest, since i was at someone else's house. It is STUPID, so UNBELIEVABLY stupid, and just when you think it won't get any MORE stupid, oh it does. It's corny when trying to be sentimental. The dialogue is insanely idiotic when trying to be profound. The plot is horrible, the theme is horrible. And it's just so damn LONG. I think Kevin Costner thinks he's made Braveheart or something. Kevin STOP MAKING MOVIES. People PLEASE DON'T WATCH THE POSTMAN.

oh wait there was one good thing: Giovanni Ribisi. I love him, he's adorable.

Summary: once there was water world, now there is DIRTWORLD.
Review: This is nothing more than water world on land..

Summary: A tale of the triumph of the human spirit.
Review: I learned long ago never to judge a movie based on the professional reviews. I am not sure what the pros are looking for but this non-pro found adventure, humor, and a reason to cheer for the hero and all the other unlikely heros of the world. And to you, Kevin Cosner, don't be dismayed by those professional reviews. We non-pros have them outnumbered and we think The Postman is a keeper!

Summary: Much better development of charachters, plot in this one.
Review: This movie was much better than Waterworld although similar in many ways. It was a little long though. It was a good plot.

Summary: No Rene Russo
Review: This movie doesn't star Rene Russo (who has stared in more popular movie such as Lethal Weapon 4, Outbreak and Tin Cup) as the above depicts. Instead it stars James Russo. An actor I have never heard of. But I would like to make it a point to let you know that it does star one of the movies best acted villiams I haven't seen in a long time. Will Patton (Armageddon) play the tyrannical General Bethlahem; a cold, lustful soul in search of power and perfection, by ruling the now post-apocalyptic United States with an iron fist and heartless prowess.

I loved the movie. And depite what many critics wrote about it, they were wrong. They were wrong with "Dances with Wolves". Although "The Postman" is nothing near the scope of "Dances with Wolves"; it still carries an heir of merit and a movie worth checking out.

Enjoy.

-Ryan
