Rating: Summary: ANOTHER GREAT BOOK TURNED TO HOLLYWOOD S**T Review: My friends and I were elated to hear the news : a David Brin book was being made into a movie, and it was the Postman!!! We were so hyped to see the adaptation. We sat in the theater, watching, with a gradual numbness creeping in to our brains, as half an hour into the movie, one of us turned to the other and asked, "Have we gotten to the book yet?" "Nope", came the whispered reply. Folks, this movie may seem passably ok to most of you, so I can't totally trash it...but please, even if you don't normally think of yourself as literate, go read the book by David Brin, a gifted author, instead of this 'adaptation' by a director whose better works seem now to have been flukes. You won't regret it. But you may come to hate this movie.
Rating: Summary: Long but entertaining epic Review: I wasn't expecting much from this film based on the blasting it took from critics. But (laughingly) I have to admit I started watching it a 9:00 pm thinking it would be over by 11:00. I was delightfully and thoroughly entertained and watching until midnight -- without regret. I would give it 3 1/2 stars if that rating were allowed. Certainly not on the same level as "Dances" but enjoyable nonetheless.
Rating: Summary: A positive tale of the basic goodness of people. Review: The Postman was a really wonderful movie. It shows the courage and basic goodness of people if they are given hope of a brighter future. I was a little leery about watching it, not normally liking post-apocalyptic movies, but with Kevin Costner starring I was willing to give it a try. I was so glad I did, because I just loved it. It was a really good story and very well done. And I loved the ending - it does leave you with "hope". Critics: go join up with Bethlehem!
Rating: Summary: Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Review: this movie should have been shorter. it seemed to never end, and the plot seemed quite weak. i'm sure the concept was good initially, but it fell flat! what happened to kevin costner? has he had a good movie since bull durham? i wanted to go postal watching this flick!
Rating: Summary: Zero Stars Review: This movie is so poor that the details are not worth going into. If you liked WaterWorld or Starship Troopers, you'll love this one.Unfortunately, this movie is based on a good sci-fi story of the same name by David Brin. I receommend the book, but cannot say this movie is worth watching on any level. For the record, most of the "stunning vistas" seen in the movie are matte paintings.
Rating: Summary: Don't believe what you hear... Review: No,The Postman hardly measures up to Dances With Wolves, and yes,it is at times a bit corny, but I loved it anyway... If you can allow yourself to get past the beating this movie took from critics, then you'll find that what you have is a fun apocolyptic patriotic sc-fi flick that's well worth the price of admission. In my opinion the movie's score alone makes this one worth watching. Also kudos to the cinematography team, this film is shot beautifully! "DO YOU HEAR ME POSTMAN!I SAID RIDE!"
Rating: Summary: An exceptional epic ! Review: At first I was a bit hesitant to see this movie because of all the bad press and reviews it received. I was surprised and delighted to find out it wasn't horrible or corny. This film is incredibly well written and the acting is very entertaining. Don't listen to the criticism. See it for yourself, you won't be sorry!
Rating: Summary: Another one for Costner Loyalists Review: Again, those of us who loved Field of Dreams and Dances With Wolves buy a ticket or rent a video to support and expect greatness from our hero, Kevin. And again, only the brave, only the true, only the Costnerians are not disappointed. While this movie deserves the bad name and the raspberries it won for its length, lame dialogue, overuse of flag-flapping, and lack of character, it still merits a look-see if you are truly interested in watching Coster's metamorphosis and his talent. He has dreams, and he has visions. He loves to use his family in his films, and they are adorable.. Ponytail, his mother, his son... all create an image of a postman who can save the world.. I only hope one rides in to save Costner in his newest rescue mission, Message in a Bottle. Perhaps the message read, "Add another star!" so he did.. Paul Newman is bound to be more help than the costars in Postman.. We will see... In the meantime, watch Waterworld, Watch this... Review A Perfect World... and dream of being Kevin's only remaining fan.. You won't be as long as I'm alive. That's for sure..
Rating: Summary: Don't Listen to the Sheep...See this Movie... Review: This is one of the most wonderful films I've seen in years....keep in mind that this is not a Western! This is a post apocalyptic tale of courage and defiance of tyranny! This movie is unpredictable and well thought out. It is a symbol of how humanity is hanging on by a thread to all it's materialism and selfishness. One wrong choice puts us back a couple of hundred years. It also proves that knowledge and communication are the keys to cultural evolution! In my view this film is by far Kevin Costner's best work. Watch his work without any prerequisite notion enforced by critics or other sheep who bombard your mind with their own subjective opinions.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful film Review: I totally and utterly disagree with anyone who denies the high quality and creativity of this film. It is an inspiring movie and is very good. The ending may have been a little dimb but it was all-around pretty good.
