Summary: Excellent film
Review: Dont listen to the critics. Yes it is maybe a re-hashed setting. But The filming and acting are high caliber. The film has a message of believing in ideals and pusuing them as well as other ideals sometimes missing in our society.

Summary: 3- Hour Implosion
Review: This film is poorly constructed and conceived. This spells doom for any movie and is much more obvious in a 3-hour "epic". Costner should never utter another line of Shakespeare in his life. And I never again want to see a mule and a human in a sword fight from MacBeth. The "Hero" of the film is a pure dweeb. He is cowardly and lacks any kind of conviction whatsoever. Events are also extremely predictable and much of the overarching story line is unexplained. And don't get me started on the cliche's thrown in. It is also unrealistic to me that communities of people will have their hope stirred by a federal beauracracy that is known for being ineffecient and slow. Jingoism hasn't been this blatantly displayed since "Rocky IV" and "Independance Day".

Summary: the absolute best movie i have ever seen
Review: i rented this movie and i was real skeptical, but then i saw it and it was soooooooooooo cool. it was a very powerful movie. bottom line is ignore the critics and watch this movie

Summary: shallow and insulting
Review: Now if only they could rewrite this movie to be a satire on patriotic American BS, and focus instead on the nature of freedom and unconventionality versus the idea of patriotic mindless conformity, this movie may not have made me gag. Yes, I'm afraid I actually gagged.

I honestly thought this movie was an American cultural satire at first, but honestly I think they were serious. I hope it's only available on Region 1 DVD. If another country sees this movie I will gag all over again from embarrassment.

Believe the critics, they aren't all stupid. If your looking for something watchable along the same setting, try the Mad Max movies. At least you'll allow you to keep your dinner in your tummy.

Trite garbage.

Summary: I gave it a chance
Review: I confess that the very idea of this movie (what I gathered from the trailers and previews) made me laugh. I instantly thought "What is wrong with Kevin Costner." But when there was nothing else to watch, I gave the film a genuine chance. I wish I hadn't. This was just about the corniest movie I've ever seen and suffers largely from a ball of evil antagonist who seems to have no aim but to make the lives of others miserable (Note to writers of this film: it's best that the antagonist has just as conceivable an objective as the protagonist - that makes for an interesting story). This movie destroys people I'd liked (namely Tom Petty and Larenz Tate) and Costner even dared to rob his own son of a career before it gets going by putting him in this piece of filth. I'm sorry but I have to go with the majority here. I could live like Ghandi for another thousand years and still not repair the damage that viewing The Postman has done to my soul. If I ever won the lottery I would dedicate myself to collecting each copy of this horrid dribble so that I may banish it from ever crossing human eyes. IT'S JUST THAT BAD!

Summary: neat...but kinda foolish
Review: The future?...or the past?...That is the most interesting concept...but,

One thing I can say about this movie is...Why?

The story of a future apocalyptic dedicated postal worker meets "Little House On The Prairie".

You find yourself watching this Costner epic with a real synical attitude. I don't mean that any opinion is directed toward Costner as an actor or movie maker. There is just a lot of ridiculous things to laugh about in this foolish movie.

Summary: Kevin Costner Has Done It Again
Review: The Postman is quite possibly one of the worst movies I have ever been subjected to. The story line is absolutely ridiculous. When the movie finally reaches it's climax, you pray it's over, yet the movie still gives you 1 1/2 hours of boredom. The ending was terrible and the movie really didn't give you anyone you could relate to or care for. The only bright spot was the lovable antics of Bill the Mule. Unfortunately, Bill the Mule gets ousted relatively early leaving the rest of the movie in a downward spiral. Forget this movie!

Summary: IGNORE THE CRITICS
Review: This was an excellent movie about what could be in a post-apocalypstic America. Don't let the critics and negative commentary influence you one way or the other. If it was up to me, more films like this one would be made -- at least they speak about important issues such as patriotism, unity, decency, and honor. There are enough fluff movies out there. Give it a try. Even if you're disappointed, you're bound to get something positive and worthwhile out of this multi-themed movie.

Summary: Recognize a special person
Review: I like this movie, but i think it is a little be slow. I don't want to be a true story in future. sometimes we don't recognize some special persons around us.

Summary: The Postman stinks - why do some people like it ?
Review: I watched The Postman last night. It's rubbish. Went into Amazon.com to see what other reviewers said and I could not believe my eyes ! Some people love this movie. WHY ?

Yes, the sweeping vistas look great. Yes, the soundtrack is (again) sweeping. But, hello ? Did any of you who gave this anything more than maybe 3 stars listen to that dialogue ? Did you watch Will Patton's overacting ? Was I dreaming or did that little girl start singing "Oh Beautiful, America" ? People - go and watch "The Manchurian Candidate". Sit down in front of "Miller's Crossing". Tune in next time the original "12 Angry Men" is on. THEN you will witness a great movie. Great or even good movies are a result of everything being good, not just one or two aspects of the production. The stirring music and scenery cannot make up for banal writing, confusing editing, and a convoluted storyline. When that guy at the end says "That was me...." while attending the displaying of a commemorative statue of The Postman, I could have wept.......with laughter.

Someone please restore my faith in the human race - tell me I'm not the only one who would rather watch really bad movies, that are SO bad they are actually worth watching, than a movie that is just plain bad, and worse than that it thinks it's good - I cannot belive some people agree.

Oh well, I'm off to watch "Goodfellas" and then "Fargo" - now there's a couple of good movies ! Watch and learn all you Postmen !
