Summary: Excellent tie-in to the old series and shocking
Review: It took me a while to get around to watching the movie, but I popped it in and sat down to watch it. Lemme tell you this movie was excellent in my opinion. Im a big fan of Batman and Batman Beyond. Sure it might have been a little edited but big deal? Any TRUE Batman fan can enjoy it. I found one part to be sad though, and I almost cried X_x because Im a big Robin fan! Anyways this movie I would have to say is a must watch! Excellent animation too, if I might add. I cant wait to work with a great team of animators like them! I Hope there will be more animated Batman Beyond movies and a Live Action one! :) Peace!

Summary: Nice way to tie old and new
Review: I've been addicted to Batman my entire life, and I love the direction this series has taken. The revelations and answers during the climax would probably only be believable in Gotham but other than that it's a perfect Batman flick. Dark scenes, good lines, fast flying car evading laser chase, and engaged character interplay. Will Friedle (Batman) and Mark Hamill (the Joker) are wonderful! The music is perfect. Dark rock with twangs of electronic and blues.

Summary: disappointing
Review: i've seen the uncut version of ROTJ and went ahead and bought the edited dvd anyway. so i was lying in bed, doing some reading, with the dvd playing, and noticed a particular scene (i won't reveal what it was so i don't spoil it for ppl) where the edited version just lost the feel and atmosphere of the uncut. the scene had been so dramatically changed. i was appalled. i can understand wanting to edit the dvd for a younger audience. however, i would imagine that most of the ppl buying the dvd are batman fans and so an uncut version should've been released also. in conclusion, don't purchase this dvd. get the uncut version if you can.

Summary: Missing the point
Review: Ok. When we talk of arts I agree that any type of censorship is infamous but, as one of the many of the viewers that doesn't had access to the uncut version of Batman Beyond - The Return of Joker, I think that those who allegedly view this version are missing the point here. With rare exceptions all of them complain about the lack of (more) violent scenes. Pardon me you all, but showing joker's skull broken with blood covering all the screen won't add any new meaning to the plot, nor increase the strong sequence of the brain washing of Tim Drake. The plot is dark and smart enough to sustain the Batman mythos and add new significance to the relation between these caracters. The real restriction that could be made to this great work it was that, like usual when you deal with established heroic caracters, the creators do not cross the final frontier making evil prevails over good. They prefer the microchip solution (a good solution but not as radical as a real psychological transformation). I can't talk more in order to not spoil the pleasure of those who didn't see this movie yet, but believe me, if you buy or rent this one, you'll do not waste your money.

Summary: Great movie but deleted scenes could've added more.
Review: This movie will be enjoyed by all Batman Beyond fans. The sound is great when you got surround and the animation is briliant espcially the scenes with the laser. Things that bothered were me the eay Joker comes back (at the begginging and how he REALLY came back) and how he died (in the flashback and at the end) I wish the WB execs would've just put a sock in their mouths and left the scenes in that were deleted, even though they werent a big part of the story, the WB should've just left them in. Most people who have seen the movie complain about that and that only. The DVD's is one of the best I've got, its features will keep you out of trouble for a little while. The commentary is great to listen too, and the documentary is good. It also has trailers for other WB movies and the so-called "deleted scenes" are just ... storyboards. So all in all you could say you get your moneys worth.

Summary: Even with cuts, best 'Batman' ever
Review: Many have complained about the 'butchering' of this film. Don't listen to them. Even with the slight edits that the studio demanded, this movie is one of the darkest 'Batman' films ever. Add this with great writing, superb animation and excellent voice acting and you have ingredients for a fine film. This DVD not only has the best 'Batman' feature ever made, but it is chock full of amazing extras, especially the commentary track with the films creators. To say again: the cuts do nothing to harm this flick. If you are a Batman fan, do yourself a favor and get this movie. Copies of the uncut version are merely a shadow to this magnificent work.

Summary: Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker
Review: It could have been good, but over 14 minutes of the movie has been deleted (as mentioned numerous times, almost proudly, in the creator's commentary). I am not a major fan of Batman Beyond or Batman in general, just a fan of good movies and good animation and this one falls short. Also beware of what the back cover of the DVD states, there is NO deleted scenes of the 14 minutes censored from the movie, just deleted storyboard footage that wasn't even animated. Just another way of "nickle and dime-ing" the consumer, they will most likely come out with a "Director's Cut" in the future to further milk more money from the fans.

Summary: Even with cuts, still awesome
Review: There is only one word to describe this movie: AMAZING. From the opening sequence to the finale, this movie has you staring in awe at the excellent animation, and dwelling on every aspect of the story.

First of all, I must say that I was rather angry when I heard that the movie had been edited. I was really steamed when I learned that the cut scenes had not been included in the dvd. Still, these are only slight flaws in an otherwise perfect movie. The only cut that had any real significance was when the joker jams the knife into batmans knee. This is the main reason why bruce wayne has to use a cane, and that would clear up that issue.

Otherwise, this movie is amazing. It has an amazing story, followed by spectacular animation. Return of the joker also has the best voice acting in any animated film, period. Kevin Conroy is the best batman ever. Finally, the soundtrack to this movie is also very well done, as kenny wayne shepard shines.

Summary: flawed perfection
Review: All right, so we can thank our friends in Washington and some of the heads at WB for this kiddie-friendly version of what could have been an animated classic (for those of us who can look beyond Mickey and friends). With that in mind, this is still a great film. The edits took away from the emotional impact and intense drama of the story, but there's still something there. The film is quick in getting to the action and the plot moves along at a brisk pace. For Batman fans and comic book fans in general, Batman Beyond:Return of the Joker delivers big time action and finally makes us care about Bruce Wayne's heir to the batcave. After watching the feature and some of the extras, I'm hoping that WB decides to release some more of the episodes of any of the 3 Dini/Timm DC series on DVD. If that's too much to hope for, at least WB has gotten me pumped for the upcoming Batman Beyond live action movie.

Summary: A nice animated movie.
Review: I really don't like Batman Beyond at all ..... I think Warner Bros. should concentrate on the Batman & Robin Series, instead of wasting time with this lame Superhero .... or maybe they should have done a Nightwing series. With that said, I felt like I should check this one out, because I heard that it had some info on what supposedly happens in the future to Tim Drake, and the rest of the Dark Knights of Gotham. After watching it, I was pleasantly surprised; this movie was actually pretty good. The fight scenes, as well as, the rest of the action were nicely done. I really enjoyed the flash back scenes, but wondered why the Joker from the Batman series with Dick Grayson (as Robin), was facing the Tim Drake Robin. Anyway ... those who think there wasn't enough violence in this film, should stick to the adult graphic novels of Batman .... Warner Bros did the right thing editing the scenes out .... there are just as many, if not more, younger viewers watching the animated Batman shows, as there are older viewers, such as myself. Believe it or not, cartoons are still made for kids! Other things that one should note, are the spectacular colors used in making this film ... WOW ... there is some real eye candy here! The DVD is also packed with a lot of extra features, like the making of the movie, film makers commentary, deleted scenes, and animation tests. It would have been nice if more extra features would have been included in the live action Batman movies by Warner Bros. This DVD is not a must have, but it not a waste of money either .... it's been in my DVD player for the last 5 days and I still enjoy watching it.
