Summary: See it for the animation if nothing else
Review: This movie is awesome. Even if you don't like sci-fi action movies, but love the cinema see this movie. I heard the animation takes animated movies to the next level - it's true. Prepare to be disconcerted by recognizable voices coming out of strange bodies - the characters look that real! Our audience cheered when Aki finally kisses Alec Baldwin's voiced character! Yes, the plot suffers from the same, trite Hollywood action movie formulas - layering of disaster upon disaster upon bad luck upon complication upon trauma, etc. but the mechanics of this movie make it worth ignoring. No knowledge of the game is necessary to enjoy the movie - I had none. The basic plotting of a video game is there if you choose to dig deep enough, but not as intrusive as Tomb Raider. The plot is fairly standard, easily understood by anyone with half a brain and willing to pay attention and incorporates a fresh (to me anyway) take on an alien invasion. See this movie! Don't be surprised when you forget it is animated!

Summary: see it before you write a review!!!
Review: Great movie! It was about aliens whose planet got destroyed and they turn into revenge seeking ghosts! It was so sad at the end I almost cryed....

Summary: Good, even for a non-gamer
Review: I saw this movie on Friday, and as the credits rolled, only one thought lingered in my head: somehow, SOMEHOW, the movie industry finally created a good movie based around a video game!!! I've suffered greatly, along with all the other PC and console game players, viewing such bilge as Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Mario Brothers, and yes, even Tomb Raider.

But, even if you haven't played any of the Final Fantasy games you can enjoy this movie. I know this to be true, since I have never touched an FF game, because roleplaying isn't my thing.

I won't spoil any of the plot or story, but I'll say that it moves right along and the action is fantastic. The real jaw-dropper in this movie is the starring lady, who is completely digital. A TV special said that 90% of the effort into creating her wondrously computerized character went into the eyes and hair alone, and the results shine. The other characters are great too, and I actually had to ask my friends with me if everyone else was digital too; it's that realistic.

What's nice about having digital characters is that the special effects integrate seamlessly with the actors, so that you'll never say "oh, that's fake", because all the "stunts" by the characters are easily created.

The only thing I didn't like about this movie was the new-age-ish stuff regarding "Gaia, the spirit of the earth." Captain Planet, anyone? But it matters little, since Gaia looks freaking cool when they find it. But but, I'm already giving away story, so I shall stop.

If nothing else, see this movie because A) it's a technical wonder and B) they finally made a good videogame movie!! It's too good to be true.

Summary: Visually stunning sci-fi mystery
Review: From the opening camera pan up through the planetary wasteland til the ending snapshot of the snow covered peaks, you will be in awe of the beautiful virtual world created. Every scene builds another layer in the visual complexity of Final Fantasy. The story delivers a mystical and mysterious science-fiction plot that will be unbelievable (and potentially unintelligible) for most. But if you are able to open your mind to the possibilities, this movie will leave you breathless.

Summary: Historic milestone.
Review: This movie sets a pivotal milestone in cinema history: the beginning of synthetic actors and the end of real ones. Marvelous skin, hair, and cloth animation. Excellent props and body animation. Facial expressions could have been better, though. Anyway, Hollywood, your days are counted ...

Summary: Right before your eyes...
Review: Hands down history in the making. Go see this film!! It is not often we get to see the future right before our eyes. There will be a day when actors are no longer necessary and the guy or girl with a great idea will be able to sit in their own house creating movies just like Final Fantasy. The plot was sort of weak but the graphics were awsome. Forget about good or bad just go see the movie and get ready for the future.

Summary: ...of course it's not like any other Final Fantasy!
Review: If you're a hardcore lover of the Final Fantasy series, you will know that the one thing that keeps each installment set apart from each other is completely new characters in a completely new world with a completely new story. This movie isn't a game, but the three new things are there. Sure the only true "recycled" character is Sid (but I could've swore it should've been "Cid"), but that's it! The story is very Final Fantasy-ish and the movie itself is just beautiful to look at. Often you'll forget it's all a computer animated movie - it's that realistic. I highly recommend you see this movie - especially if you're a fan or love Science Fiction, or even are impressed by wonderful computer graphics.

Summary: Clichés and extra corny dialog
Review: I must say I've been shocked at people's positive response to this movie. This was one of the worst movies I've seen in the theatre for a long time. The only thing going for it was the cgi, but even that couldn't save the horrible plot and the dialog that oozed of cheese.

I so wanted this movie to be good, having played some of the games. It seemed like the people who made this movie bought a book on Hollywood clichés, which will end up putting your face in your hands in embarrassment. If your going to make another, "we got a save the world movie", at least make the characters enjoyable.

I'll understand if one wants to see it because of the animation, but don't say I didn't warn you; cause you'll be wishing it was over so you can leave and go read a book.

Summary: Great animation, so-so story.
Review: The animation was incredible. For that reason, this film is a groundbreaker. However, the story is rather weak and the voice acting is down right poor. I still recommend seeing this film for the animation though. It is simply amazing. Catch the matinee. You may feel better about the film if you don't drop a lot of cash.

Summary: I saw this movie and it was okay
Review: I felt so disappointed with this movie. While the graphics were beautiful, there were times it looked stiff. But it wasn't the graphics that disappointed me but the plot and the characters. To me, I didn't see much character development and the plot at times bored me. And the humor at times seem to try to hard to be funny, and when is actually kind of funny, the joke is met with a few chuckles from otherwise quite and disappointed audience. But is not a total loss, the graphics again is beautiful, there were at times I felt I was watching something real not created from a computer. The acting was excellent and while there were no real character development you actually do feel for them. So for plot I give it 2 stars and everything else is 2 stars and half
