Summary: 90210 Goes to War!
Review: This is one of those films that plays better on video (or in this case, DVD) than it did at the movie. The novel by Heinlein was much better, but it was written back in the 1950s, so Verhoven did need to update it for the 1990s. The DVD version is quite clean and has some nice extra features.Interesting aside: I used to babysit Anthony Ruivivar (when he was about six years old) who plays Shishumi. He's the first soldier to get killed by the bugs.

Summary: One of the Giants!
Review: Alright, I confess- I don't have the DVD. I'm buying a DVD player this week and this will be one of the first DVDs I'll buy for it. I'll have to keep it hidden from my wife, though (she's squeemish). This is truly a great movie and accomplishes what it sets out to do. This is not a movie that people should critique based on quality of acting, character development, real world issues, etc. However, for a sci-fi, blood-bath action flick with undoubtedly some of the greatest special effects ever, this movie is a winner. Unfortunately, this movie offends the squeemish and the liberals who cry "fascists!" everytime the movie is mentioned, but so what? The movie clearly ridicules meaningless war and is a definite satire towards Nazism and fascism. It's a shame some people can't see that. The acting is poor but if it were top notch, it would lose its affect as a satire. The "bad acting", "lack of character development" and "ridiculuous military strategism" for which this movie is harshly criticized, are made up for by intense action, special effects and humor. Bottom line- if you want to see an incredible action flick with unbelievable special effects that will keep you on the edge of your seat and/or laughing throughout, this is the one to see.

Summary: Not for the Faint of Heart!
Review: I would recommend this movie only to action fans that can handle extreme violence and gore. For the rest of you movie fans, don't even bother watching it. I know for a fact that the brutal acting, poor character development, and cheesy plot will turn you off. If I wasn't into the action-movies, I could have given Starship Troopers, a one-star rating easily.

Review: I've seen this movie about three times now, and I admit that it was interesting the first time. The second time you noticed all the logical faults, and the third time you just puked. 1. What the HELL did the fleet do ? "The fleet is engaged in a large operation!" Yeah, sure. Stand still and get blown up. No planetary bombardment, no nothing. 2. Hand2hand ? pleeeeasee... "Captain, why don't we send in some aircrafts and blow them bugs dead ?" ... "Nah... send some marines with useless weapons and get them killed... more fun that way" 3 - 30. Summary: Sci-Fi at it's worst
Review: Most of the people up the top who have reviewed this vile, idiotic piece of crap don't know what real Science Fiction is. This film is corny and contains plenty of gags. A couple of adults in their early 20's attend a large war of man vs. insect and the results are beyond appalling.

Summary: Heinlein spins in his grave, but that's OK!!
Review: The movie bears little resemblance to Robert A. Heinlein's classic book. But that's OK, because director Paul Verhoeven finds more creative ways to gruesomely kill people than in this movie than in any other movie I've seen. Bloody, intense fun! Those people who complain about the obliteration of RAH's admittedly contoversial political philosophy missed the point of this film. Verhoeven never said he wanted to pontificate about future society...he just wanted to impale people really good!!! Oh yeah, and about the removal of the robotic suits Heinlein fans seem so obsessed about: Verhoeven ditched the robo-armor because the special effects required would double the cost of the film. In my opinion, concentrating on the bug effects was the right way to go. Go ahead and see this movie, but leave the kids at home. Definitely worth renting, to buy it is up to you.

Review: A grat movie,for special effect trama and energy that gives the viewer the right feeling that he is waiting for.Honestly I have not read the book,so I can not make any comparison,by the way I have read some other reviews and I suppose that there could have been some misunderstood between the readers of the book and the public of the movie.Clearly people looking for this kind of action know what they want to see and with Starship Troopers they get it full!I do not think that sci-fi movies should ever be tied closely to any personal political beliefs and I do not see any in this movie that could be criticized. My advice for fun-action:a must. For general public:a good two hour entartainment. For mind-bored people:there are much better movies to be bored from!
