Rating: Summary: The Ultimate DVD / Surround Sound System Demo Disk! Review: Thinking of laying down your had-earned cash on a home theater system? You've come to the right demo disk. If the salesfloor salesman puts this on a DVD-based surround sound system, you're in for a treat! This disk will surround you with great color, spectacular special effects, and an even soundtrack that really shows you what the speakers are capable of. When it all synergizes pleasingly, buy the system, and include this disk! Never intended as brain food, Starship Troopers is a fast-paced, bug-hunting, shoot-em-up, set in the distant future. One of the best sci-fi action flicks since Aliens, and a real must-have DVD for action flick enthusiasts.
Rating: Summary: Starship Troppers is terrible Review: This film lacked a good plot. The special effects were good but without a an excellent story to go with it. I did not like the fact that Humans were the bad guys. I like to think Humans will be better in the future not worst.
Rating: Summary: A likely candidate for Mystery Science Theater 3000. Review: A sci-fi thriller of ugly bad actors, exterminating BUGS. A graphic VOMIT scene will send this film across the room, hitting the wall with a shaterring bang. A few decapitations here and there, people being spliced in half. I hate when films compare themselves with Star Wars. Leave Star Wars alone, and go to acting school. I can't wait to see this film on Mystery Science Theater 3000. I compare this film with SPACE MUTINY-:)
Rating: Summary: Reasonable movie, GREAT DVD Review: When I saw the movie in the theaters, I liked it. It wasn't the Heinlein story, but it was a well thought out movie with its own qualities. It was the first DVD I bought, too. The dvd has special features that truely make the movie for me. The filmakers commentary was great. As has been mentioned before, this movie is not for the faint of heart.
Rating: Summary: Predictable soap at the start makes it difficult to watch. Review: The feeble "SpaceCamp" type social interaction for the first 30 minutes lost my interest completely. The skip button was in use until the impressive if somewhat mindless special effect sequences arrived. Not worth 2 Bob.
Rating: Summary: BUGS!!!!!! Mummy !!! Review: An absolutely mind-blowing film ! The first half does not prepare you for the fantastic action scenes that appear later on in the film, with special effects that can hardly be faulted. The underlying plot is excellent and very deep yet very few have realised this and so many people have trashed the storyline and script. The action scenes are brilliant (yet gory) and the whole atmosphere (despite the traumatic experiences of war) is much more lighthearted than 'Saving Private Ryan' and not as dark and gloomy as 'Aliens.' This is my favourite film of the moment and am waiting with baited breath for a sequel (no news on that yet though). This film is Genius and you will either hate 'Paul Verhovens'style of film or worship it (with animal sacrifices`). Also watch it on a big telly with Dolby Surround for the whole 'Experience' of it. "Come on , You want to live forever."
Rating: Summary: IMANGINARY Review: JUST SEE IT.IT'S FUN ENTERTAINMENT AND IT ALSO KEEPS YOU HOME ONE MORE NIGHT WITH YOUR FAMILY.
Rating: Summary: The best sic fi-action movie to date. Review: Starship Toopers is the best sic fi-action movie to date bcause it gives a frighting view of the future. It shows a world that is so caught up to be citizen that the goverment makes young people join the Army or Navy to show that they are a higher class than the rest of the population. It also shows that doing something for the wrong reson doesn't pay off like Rico found out in the movie. Besides these facts the special effects are the best yet to make to the movies.
Rating: Summary: A great action, a horrible drama Review: OK, I read the reviews posted, and the people who rate it poorly obviously aren't the kind of people this movie was intended for. The movie isn't there to win best actor or actress, it's there to entertain the people of our society who love action and gore. So quit wasting our time saying "Horrible acting" and the like, this movie is about mindless mass killing.
Rating: Summary: An insult, or a very bad joke? Review: Why is it, when films like "Resevoir Dogs" are protested against and often band, that a truely offensive artical such as this is allowed full acess by the public? How can anyone actually enthisise with the society that the "Starship Troopers" strive to protect? A facist state which is glorified by bands and explosions and flat dialouge special effects epic. If the director was actually intending to paint such a lush picture of brutal dictatorship or not, that's how it comes across. This is like a version of the Dirty Dozen made by Hitler. On a technical level, the film only achieves one interesting feat. It makes you sympathise with a giant insect.
