Rating: Summary: Better than Terminator! Review: Arnold Schwarzenegger hasn't made many films much better than this one. Neither has John McTiernan. Yes it's stupid, but it's fun. Sit back and let the bullets fly and the blood flow in an orgy of male machismo. Deft one-liners and nice 80's action movie clichés are in abundance, but we shouldn't knock it, sometimes that's all we want from a movie. If you don't know the story, then I would like to be the first to welcome you back from whatever planet it is you have been on (I don't mean that in a cruel way, but come on, everyone has seen this!) anyway, a crack squad of soldiers is sent in to retrieve a diplomat from the South American jungle and they end up being stalked by some kind of... Predator. I'm sure you'll read the other reviews and synopsis so I won't go any further. In conclusion, this film is really fun, and the disc is adequate, if you are looking solely for sound quality and picture quality. If, however, you are after special features then I recommend a visit to Amazon.co.uk (but only worth a look if you can play region 2 DVD's) and you will be able to pick up the special edition (a 2-disc set with special features!)
Rating: Summary: ADAM Review: GREAT SPECIAL EFFECTS.GOOD PLOT.THE PREDATOR ITSELF IS ABSOLUTELY [great].I AM A VERY BIG PREDATOR FAN, AND I OWN AT LEAST 85 PREDATOR COMICS. IF YOU LIKED THE MOVIE, THEN I SUGGEST COLLECTING THE PREDATOR/ALIEN VS. PREDATOR COMICS.
Rating: Summary: Intense !!! Review: This is one of Arnold's best movies, you want guns, killing, gore, this movie has it all, this is an awsome movie about an alien killing off a squad of special forces one by one, and Arnold has to make it out of there alive with whoever he can. If you liked Commando, you'll love Predator
Rating: Summary: Are you kiddin' me? Review: ...This movie has earned every one of its stars. It's got lots of big guns, it's got sweat, it's got muscles, it's got classic dialogue ("I ain't got time to bleed", if it bleeds, we can kill it"), it's got war, it's got jungle, it's got science-fiction, and it's got Arnold, Jesse "the Body", Carl Weathers and a shell-shocked Bill Duke. What else could it need?...The cast, the acting and the scenery in this flick do more than enough to carry a cliche plot. I'd watch this again, over and over and over, and I highly recommend it. This is definitely one of my all-time favorites.
Rating: Summary: Schwarzenegger's finest hour Review: From the first frame you know that this film is going to produce the goods.John Mc Tierman must be the most unrecognised director around. Here's my advice.Watch the film, forget about the cheesy acting at the start between Dutch (Arnie) and Dillan (Carl Weathers aka. Rocky's mate), and pay attention to the rest of the film. Superbly staged action with some of the coolest scenes you will ever see on film, this is not one to be missed. i am not going to tell you the plot like other reviewers, I want you to watch if and find out what happens yourself. PS.The Pedator's cackle is by far the best sound ever captured on screen/sound, judge for yourself, anytime.
Rating: Summary: "I Ain't Got Time to Bleed!" Review: From the director of Die Hard comes one of Arnold Schwarzenegger's best action movies. Predator is one of the most entertaining movies I have ever seen. The scene where the predator is chasing Arnold and he covers himself with mud and clay so that the predators infrared vision doesn't see him is probably the scene that I find most memorable, but the whole movie is filled with great parts. Look for Governer Jesse Ventura as a big, gun-toting part of Arnold's team. The predator is a really cool villain, too. He's got cool weapons, and he can walk around in "stealth" mode so that he's nearly invicible. The DVD however, is sorely lacking any special features, unless you count some theatrical trailers (which are pretty cool, I have to give them that). The good thing about the DVD is that it IS in widescreen (all you people who hate widescreen don't know what you're talking about-watch the Why Letterbox? featurette on the Die Hard (Five Star Collectio) if you want to know more about it), and it is in DTS Surround Sound. You haven't seen it this good since it was in theaters! In response to the reveiwer from SF, the Predator technically was not played by Jean Claude Van Damme. He was supposed to play the "invisible" Predator scenes, but quit after two days of filming because he didn't want to play an uncredited special effect. Kevin Peter Hall played the predator. A must buy for anyone into Arnold or action movies. (Check out Predator II with Danny Glover).
Rating: Summary: " Stick Around" and watch this movie. Review: Arnold Scwartzenger plays a Militant with comrades in South America who are being stalked by a mysterious Alien creature who is hungry for blood. Exciting and hard mix of Science Fiction, Action and Horror all in one plus it's got some humorous one-liners like " Knock Knock" ETC.Other similar movies i would suggest: Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, C.H.U.D., Alien, Aliens, The Thing ( 1982), Day of the Dead, Commando, Total Recall, Starship Troopers, Robocop, Akira, The Matrix.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic action movie Review: I think this is a great action movie. Who can imagine the usual-looking secret mission would become a deadly fight wiht a invincible-looking alien. I remember that I wondered about the opening scene (spaceship came to the Earth) when I was watching this movie for the first time. As well as terminator series, Die hard, this is the best of the genre. BTW, I had seen a scene in which our hero looked pale and almost shaking his hands out of fear of the Alien but I couldn't see this on the TV broadcast. Also, I heard that the Alien was played by J. C. Van Dame. Is this correct?
Rating: Summary: Bad Movie, Bad acting, and cheap special effects. Review: Badly directed and badly acted film with Arnold leading a cast of rejects from the NRA on a commando raid through Central America and being killed off one by one by an alien creature from another world (who'se performance is actually the best of the whole cast in this film). If this was a movie made for the guys, this is one guy who did not like it.
Rating: Summary: The Most Dangerous Game. Review: What happens when the hunter becomes the hunted? This flick answers the question very well. It is a microcosm of what happens when an inferior society meets an advanced one. While on a minimalist approach, it reflects the endless struggle between technology and morality. In our eyes, it is murder to hunt and kill humans for sport. In the alien's eyes, we are merely animals. It is ultimately reaffirming because Arnold kills the alien. Like every one species that has competed against humans, the alien learned that the most dangerous thing in the world is a human with a rock and an indomitable spirit. One of my favorites
