Summary: Puh-leez!!!
Review: Armageddon was the stupidest movie ever. After Ben Affleck narrowly escapes death 50 times in the first 10 minutes, the ending is so predictable. I mean, it got to the point that I actually WANTED him to die!! Plus everything else that could possibly have gone wrong went wrong, yet amazingly they overcome it all. The characters and dialogue were so stupid and the whole story was pointless, and it was completely unrealistic. Besides if those people were really hurling through space after crashing they would have exploded and no one can handle that many G's. If you want a realistic space movie, go get Apollo 13, and if you want a decent movie with Ben Affleck, get Good Will Hunting. Otherwise don't waste your money.

Summary: GREAT!
Review: I was amazed at the FX and the plot. The actors and actresses put amazing enthusiasm into their lines. I very much enjoyed this emotional film and I recommend it to anyone who likes a good action film with great humor!

Summary: If you buy only one DVD of a '90's movie - this must be it!
Review: Why has this movie reveived every rating in the book?? Two reasons. People like me who view movies as "entertainment" and are able to exercise "suspension of disbelief" which is critical to enjoying a science-fiction movie, loved this movie because it contained a wide variety of emotional elements (about everything except the kitchen sink), outstanding special effects, riveting cinematography & editing, and a true hero. People who feel that every movie should have redeeming social value - a la "Shindler's List" - OR should have perfect and true realism (which I have yet to see in a Hollywood movie) hated this movie. That is why there is little middle ground - except for the people who recognize the quality of the Criterion Collection but despised the quality of the movie. I honestly consider this movie to be one of the greatest action movies of all time. I think that it is every bit as good as the original "Star Wars", and better than "Empire" or "Jedi". There was little swearing (to ensure a PG-13), NO sex, NO gore, and a minimum of violence considering the topic (asteroid hits Earth). Michael Bay did a great job at developing characters through their actions and wonderful imagery. His technique and style scream for Oscar recognition, which I am sure he will have in the future. Should this have won an Oscar for Best Picture? No, but keeping in mind the genre, it was among the all time greats - from "The Great Escape" to "Patton" (which won Best Picture). This collection is the definitive one. My wife, who refuses to buy any movies (or let me) was not happy when I told her I spent the extra money for the Criterion Collection, but once she saw the features, and listened to the commentary, she was hooked. Fascinating insight into the movie, even if you didn't like the show, you would love the features and insights into its making.

Summary: All I can is....Wow!
Review: First of all, I must go on record as one of the only people who actually loves this movie. WHY, you ask? Well, I have a simple theory. When you see a movie in a theater, the way the audience watching it with you reacts has a huge effect on how YOU take the film. The audience I saw it with in the theater took it SERIOUSLY. No [OK, a little] laughter, but definitely no mocking. People were truly crying during the "goodbye" scenes. Anyhow, back to the point...Whether you liked this movie or not, it is from a technical perspective, simply the best DVD ever made. The second disc has terrific extras (the "gag reel" is so funny I fell off the couch and started choking I was laughing so hard at Billy Bob). In three words, GET THIS DVD NOW! (Ok, 4 words).

Summary: Tired of watching America saving the world one more time
Review: How many more times do we have to see the US gloriously saving the world? It's just so not original. Will Bruce Willis ever shave? Ben Aflek can not act, so can't Miss Taylor. BTW, do you still think America won the world war 2?

Summary: R1 Beats British R2!!
Review: Now this is how all DVD should be presented.

But why the god-awful interview with Aerosmith and the annoying promo blurb after "Miss a thing"?

Talk about ruining the atmosphere of the song.

Summary: I enjoyed the movie and the love story in it.
Review: This movie had a great love story. I felt as if I was there and this was happening to me and mt family. I still cry every time I see it. Just to let you know I have seen it a total of thirteen times.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Some hated it, some liked it, I happen to like it
Review: As far as the other ratings go you either loved it or you hated it. I think that it was a realy good movie, I don't care what others say. I didn't think it was the best movie I have ever seen but it was good, very good.

Summary: Great DVD of a so-so movie
Review: This DVD is so chock-full with useful and interesting gadgets and trinkets, it's a real pity that the movie is so incredibly mediocre! The extra stuff is simply astounding: You get to see the making of the movie, its marketing, and the people behind it. That's of course great and informative. However, why do they give Armageddon this treatment - of all movies! For the "400 Blows" or for "M" this treatment would have been exemplary and extremely laudable, but ARMAGEDDON?! The script drips of cheeze, the acting is bad (in parts only mediocre), the special effects are quite good yet by no means envelope-pushing! Frustrating!
