Summary: Everything that has a beginning has an end
Review: And what a finale this was! The Wachowski brothers really surpassed themselves with this third & final instalment to the Matrix trilogy. And it knocks the socks off the previous two.

The CGI is amazing, and totally takes your breath away. It does sort of take over, but this doesn't detract from the film itself. The APUs are powered exoskeletons, similar but larger and more impressive than the ones in Alien. I was sitting there watching this film, wondering how the Wachowski brothers got these ideas into their heads, and then made the successful transfer from mind to screen. Genius!

There are a lot of minor characters in this film, some which featured in smaller roles previously, but are brought forward for the swansong. These included Persephone, played by Monica Bellucci, who was wasted. She had one line to say, and there were only two reasons for her to be in this.

The film starts about as abruptly as Reloaded finished. It does carry on from where Reloaded left off, but one big tip - if you have Reloaded on DVD, watch it before going to see this. Just to refresh your memory. It does start very slowly but not for long.

The critics and audiences marvelled at The Matrix when it originally came out. Reloaded was a disappointment, according to some, but they will be in awe of Revolutions. The Wachowski brothers took the original ideas, and made them even better. The CGI, the spectacular fight scenes - although they don't quite match up to the fight between Keanu Reeves & the 100 Agent Smiths in Reloaded.

The main stars of this seem to disappear about halfway through, but you don't miss them - you're too busy watching the action unfold on screen.

There are some sad bits in this film, all the way through, but it's fast paced, and I didn't want to know what the time was once.

Keanu Reeves is great - and he is so sexy when he's wet! Morpheus, thankfully, doesn't do the whole babble again, which most people were put off by during Reloaded.

There is, however, some religious imagery during Revolutions, especially towards the end. If you look out for it, you'll notice it. Or if you're like me, you won't, until someone points it out.

You have to go out and see this. No matter what you thought of Reloaded, whether you loved or hated it, this film blows your mind. No doubt about it. But beware, there's a lot of stroboscopic effects.

Has the ending of Revolutions been left open for another?!

Summary: To every beginning hopefully this is the end
Review: Well, I caught the first showing this morning of Revolutions and the results are very mixed. I'll start off by saying that this is an overall better movie than Reloaded. It had a lot more depth and just more sensible than Reloaded's pointless action sequences (Seraph and Neo's fight).

The movie picks up right where Reloaded left off with both Bane and Neo laying side by side. The first forty minutes or so is mostly drama with not a lot of action. Yet, unlike Reloaded it actually goes somewhere and has meaning to it. The plot hasn't really changed from its predecessors. The machines are closing in on Zion and Smith has a lot of brothers so to speak with him.

There aren't many fighting action sequences which to me is a plus because it got overused in the last sequel. The battle scene in Zion is up there with the likes of Star Wars battles. Yet what irratated me about this was that in this battle, it features a lot of people to whom you just don't really care whether they live or die. You're not left caring that much that the people of Zion win because there is no Neo, Trinity, Morpheus, Link, or Niobi. Regardless it is still a very gripping sequence with great effects. The concluding fight scene between Neo and Smith in the rain is by far the most compelling of all the fights in the Matrix trilogy. They battle on and break surrounding buildings like they were in a Godzilla movie.

Acting wise your main characters don't stretch that much further with their acting. With the main exception being Hugo Weaving as his smooth and charismatic portrayal of Smith. Keanu remains very cool calm and collected. Moss and Fishburne remain on the top of their game.

Overall I'd give this movie 4 or even 3 and a half stars. I wasn't taken away as much as I thought I would be. I was anticipating a Return of the Jedi finale where everything falls into place. Yet maybe my expectations were just too high for this one. The ending while being closure does set up for another sequel or perhaps prequel (yet I hope not). I think this was a great way to end the trilogy and hopefully it is the end. There is only so much you can do in the Matrix.

Summary: disapointing, but go gurrl!
Review: What happened to the amazing creativity of the Wachowski brothers? Even knowing it was a sequel I hoped for better. The holes in the dialog were filled in with cursing, the holes in the plot were filled in with explosions and when they couldn't come up with a good twist for the end they stole from Frank Herbert.

If it wasn't for the few great scenes that Trinity, Niobe, and Z get I would be disapointed beyond belief. There was about 30 minutes of film that deserved four stars and the rest didn't deserve even 1. I just keep thinking I went to a theatre as dawn for this!

Yet somehow even though I'm telling everyone I know it was hideous I've got to see it again. Maybe because the soundtrack broke and I was lip reading for the last ten minutes. Sigh.

Summary: Even those who are not hard core fans will note a glitch...
Review: I'm a hardcore fan. Period. When I woke up this morning to see the end of the trilogy that has changed the cinema as we know it, I did not expect to become disapointed.

This installment does nothing but dodge around the meaning of the sequels. I thought that they were there to show how humans would put an end to the machine world and become the dominant beings. Yet instead you leave the theater with an empty feeling. Very empty as the film takes the lives of those who matter the most in the fight for freedom.

Freedom will not be found if that is what you are looking for. Instead this franchinse takes nothing from the viewer but their money, perhaps setting up another few Matrix films....

I'm still in awe. What went wrong?!!!

Review: revolutions is by far the best chapter, this is a perfect circle, some of the things that i liked is that if you don't see the movies from enter the matrix you will not understand all revolutions, it because that ...i thank the questions are answered

Summary: Bring your tylenol!
Review: Ok, so, does anyones head hurt like mine does? I have seen all three matrix films now, and to tell you the truth... i dont know if I like the series or not. Dont get me wrong, visualy they are amazing, this latest instalment especialy. The futuristic human vs. machine battle sequences are astonishing. However, i dont know if the rest of the story... well... i dont know yet. I kind of frown upon any movie that i have to go see twice to fully understand. Now, maybe I am a total idiot when it comes to this last one, but understood all the other films no problem, they made perfect sense to me, but now this third instalment... i dunno. The whole thing kind slipped my grasp i guess. There are so many questions i have now, but for sake of spoiling the movie for others, i will refrain from asking them. I highly recomend seeing this film, it is very good. Deffinately worth it if for no other eason but the effects and visuals. But, as a friendly reminder... bring some asprin... you might need it!

Summary: The best (and worst) of what we love about this epic story.
Review: I was lucky enough to preview this movie the night before it was released for the masses, and there's one thing for sure...

If there were two camps equally frustrated and ecstatic about the prospects of 1) Understanding the nature of free-will and then TALKING about it for an hour, and then 2) Watching some of the most unbelievably intense battles ever screened for an hour... there'd be a shoulder-shrugging bunch of movie-goers leaving the theater struggling to admit how much they absolutely loved this film.

If you're like me, and you'd wait in line for EITHER, then you need to get in line for this one... since it should be viscerally what you cannot fathom poetically... or... the battle for good and evil, whatever that means, better be the holy-mother-gunship of earth-battles you've ever dreamed it could be.

Guess what, it is!

Summary: Garbage
Review: Hardly entertaining except maybe that you laugh at the ridiculousness. I can't believe that the film was even produced. Didn't anyone read the script and realize what crap it is?

Summary: Edge of Your Seat
Review: I saw "Matrix Revolutions" Saturday (11/1) at the Imax Theater in Chicago. No spoilers will be found here. The negative: wooden characters, some plot holes, very confusing overall (you'll want to see it again to understand), and the first 40 minutes is very slow-moving and talky. Advice: MAKE SURE you watch Matrix II right before seeing this one or you will be confused from the start. The positive: The last half is edge-of-your-seat, astounding entertainment. The action and effects are amazing and everything is resolved. I think most will leave the theater satisfied, though maybe a bit confused.

Summary: Saw Movie Today, 1 Full day before General Release!
Review: So, this review is of the movie only, not the actual DVD product.

Having that said, let me say this: "Why the sunrise? Why?"

Outside of that, this movie is way better then Reloaded. I saw the Matrix back in mid to late 90's, in the theatre. Reloaded was a long awaited sequel, which in my opinion, sucked at first but does grow on you. Revolutions, while still leaving the door open for a sequel (or prequel ?) was indeed a definite conclusion to the trilogy that rose above my expectations of what I thought it would be. What did I think it would be? A great idea killed by a big budget studio going for the dollar.

What was the actual movie like? Suspenseful as al hell, gritty (yes, good guys do die), eerie (waves of squidies) and dedicated to the original idea of machine conquering man and the complicated relationship between humans and the machines. It goes deeper, way deep in terms of the survival & dependency of each life form on the other.

The final battle between Neo and Agent Smith was epic. Great dramatic "slomos", silhouetted kung-fu moves and superhero flights over the city. I felt like I was watching Godzilla battles Mothra, Optimus Prime versus Megatron, or for that matter, Tron versus the MCP.

One of the more memorable moments of the film that inspires us to keep following the plot: when we gain a glimpse the earth above the scorched sky...a reminder of what life must have beeen like before the machines started growing us.

Why 4 stars and not 5? The {darn} sunrise. You'll know what I'm talking about when you see it.
