Summary: The worst movie I've ever seen.
Review: Yes! Cant get ppl which love this :(

Summary: Finally, a sci-fi thriller based on a true story!
Review: Yes, by now, everyone knows that The Matrix is an exciting, cutting-edge, sci-fi thriller with an innovative plot and a new breed of special effects (all of which have been greatly enhanced by the DVD format). These features alone make it worthy of great praise. But this movie is extraordinary in quite another way -- remarkably, the movie may actually be true!

Of course, the details are a little bit different. We're not literally physical captives in a machine-ruled world. But perhaps we do indeed live on a stage that is nothing more substantial than computer-generated graphics. We certainly do believe the show around us to be real. Perhaps all the drama of our lives, our ambitions, hopes, dreams, search for pleasure, success, recognition, love, security, etc., etc., really does distract us from the underlying reality of it all. Who has time to wonder whether it's really all just a big set-up? Maybe the folks who set it up don't want us to find out -- maybe they really do "feed" off of the energy we put into the system...

And perhaps, as in the movie, if you do discover the truth and start making too much of a fuss about it, there are forces that will do what's necessary to keep you quiet.

And maybe too, the reward for discovery of the truth is mastery over the system -- maybe as the ancients say, once you know the secret, you can literally do anything and be anything.

And maybe this is just fanciful thinking. But I don't think so. Take a look at some fascinating books like "Bringers of the Dawn", "Meeting Papaji", and "The Biggest Secret" for more on this unorthodox perspective...

Summary: A Mean, Green, Movie Machine
Review: Yes, I've watched this over and over again. Indeed, I have used the lobby scene constantly to shoot up my adrenaline and impress friends. And of course, I also noticed that the movie is just too green, and I mean chroma green. But heck, who cares? Movie magic has a long way to go but this is one helluva start!

Get the DVD. Take the pill. And you're off to Neverland!

Summary: This is the Bladerunner of the nineties!
Review: Yes, that's right. It's destined to become a sci-fi classic along with Bladerunner and 2001. What can be said that hasn't already been said a million times. Sorry Lucas, this is the One. Finally an intelligent, well written, action packed movie that gives the sci-fi genre a fresh face of action, style and maturity. The raw, pure energy that this movie delivers leaves you gasping for breath. The movie has to be seen several times to be fully appreciated. Simply mindblowing. Oh, by the way... My personal favourite scene is the one where agent Smith is telling Morpheus what mankind reminds him of. It struck me how true it is.

Summary: Could've been so much better...
Review: Yes, the effects were incredible. Yes, the concept was mind-blowing. Yes, Trinity & Keanu look really great in leather & vinyl. But the script - the SCRIPT! and the directing! And the casting! had so much potential, and fell horribly short. Keanu, I'm sorry, I just don't believe you as an intelligent computer hacker. You blew that in "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure." Lawrence, you're a great actor, and with a slightly better director you wouldn't have sounded so laughably melodramatic. And whoever wrote the script, you've obviously seen a lot of X-Files episodes, but you really need to go beyond the TV-audience-pandering dialogue and avoid the overly melodramatic. It's could've been a killer movie, but it just fell short, which makes it all the more disappointing.

Summary: A pretty enjoyable film!
Review: Yes, the story has holes...good heavens, does it have holes.I'll contribute one among many here: blocking out the sun would, uh,pretty much kill off all life on Earth, artificial or otherwise. I would say ESPECIALLY otherwise. :)

But anyway...violations of even the simplest principles of thermodynamics and physics aside, this movie is startlingly enjoyable. Absolutely wonderful special effects, a fantastic cyberpunk atmosphere, and a nice enough story if you're willing to shut down a section of brain or two in order to allow the needed amounts of suspension of disbelief to kick in. It also doesn't hurt that Carrie-Anne Moss is absolutely stunning...it's hard to imagine a better, more heart-stopping actress for the role of Trinity.

All in all, a fun ride, especially on DVD.

Summary: No, it's not perfect, but it's still fun!
Review: Yes, there are some parts of the story that don't make sense (if they just need a body for the energy it produces, what's wrong with dogs or cows?) But to hell with that, it's still a very, very fun ride, and I'll watch it many times. As to technical problems; it appears that the problems are with the players. This disc is one of the few to exercise this many features in the DVD standard, and some players (particularly older ones) can't handle it. My advise? Buy this disc and see if your player can handle it, and if it can't, get the maker to fix it; this would be a "quality of workmanship" error, since the disc DOES MEET THE DVD SPEC. Worth the price just to make sure your player is up to snuff. (FWIW, I think any new player can handle it).

Summary: The extra goodies on the DVD are better than the movie.
Review: Yes, they get points for it the first people to do the particular FX. Yes, I like Keanu Reeves. However, he was better as Siddhartha in "Little Buddha" (1994). Their little trick with pills reflecting off the classes was good.

They have rehash stories. This is a formula movie. From Outer limits among others. All this virtual stuff has been around for ages. This is just a pure Shoot-em-up movie without any real breakthroughs and if you go for popcorn you will not missed the plot.

Summary: The Matrix
Review: Yes, this all the amazing things you heard about. This movie is nothing sort of amazing. Neo wakes up in a world where nothing is real, everythings fake. A woman meets him at a club and tells him to follw her, he does, and ends up meeting a warrior named Morpheous, who tells him about the world he lives in and about the truth, the machines control everything and a small group of people have awaken from there alternate reality, The Matrix, and that he is the chosen one that will save them from the machines...

Summary: Cliched and dense but never boring
Review: Yes, this is a somewhat convoluted story and pretty much "copies" many Phillip K. Dick stories, but I can say I was never truly bored. There's always something to find out in this movie, it just never reaches it's full potiental. And I really didn't think the visual effects were all that great. But I am looking forward to the sequels, but I'm not going crazy over them.
