Summary: what the hell is everybody thinking?!?!
Review: Well, it's finally happened. The peasants have been slopping around in sh-t for so long that they finally have started to believe it's gold. I don't understand it...a formulaic chunk of special effects and action scenes with a couple of minutes of plot development, characterization, and deep thought, and everyone hails it as a totally original masterpiece? C'mon people, it's been done before, although maybe not quite as hip or with as many bursts of special effects (remember Altered States or Tron?) This was an OK movie, it mildly amazed me at parts, but I still have no idea why everybody thinks it deserves five stars and the best film of the year. Sure, it goes above and beyond Jar Jar Binks, but so would, for that matter, almost anything else released this year. This movie irritated me in the same way as Sixth Sense did later in the summer: neglect to release any good product for a long time, meticulously package average product, and consumers will percieve average product as a masterpiece. What happened to the time, so long ago now, the time of Raging Bulls and Brazils and Aliens and 2001s and Unforgivens and L.A. Confidentials and Wild Bunches and Manhattans and Annie Halls and.. and...essentially...something that makes us THINK, godammit! I'm MAD AS HELL, and I'm not gonna take it anymore!!!!

Summary: Good movie, man!
Review: Well, It's, like, like it was 1970 again, man, and it was brilliant, just pure noise, man, the sort that 99.99999% of musicians, like, can't or won't do because they're just too scared, like, to do any thing worthwhile in they're worthless lives, like, and that's it, man. Yo.

Summary: The Matrix rules!!!!
Review: Well, the matrix is a ultra super dooper action packed sci-fi movie. I think it's the best movie of its kind. It's well acted and the story is well explained. The title The Matrix doesn't sound like an action movie. But it is. Larry and Andy Wachowski made this movie so great. They gave it a great story and put in the best sci-fi action i have ever seen. I give it a 5, but would like to give it a 6. It's the best movie in 1999.

Summary: Special effects, but............
Review: Well, the only good thing of this Movie are the Special Effects. Indeed the story is boring. Dark City is and stays the best Sci-Fi movie for now. Okay it doesn't have those greats special effects of Matrix but at least the story is great and you won't look at your watch while watching it.

Summary: All right! Ugh......
Review: Well, what do you expect? This movie can be summed up in a few words. Nerds killing cops. Yes, you heard me. As other reviewers have mentioned already, the heros are actually more like terrorists. But what do you expect? It seems that everybody smart these days have to go against the law. I do agree however that this movie seems to be created for the mass market, appealing to teenagers who just might go on another school shooting.............ugh......oh well, it was still a good movie...so good, it made me wonder if I was IN the matrix.

Summary: overrated
Review: Well-done; but not nearly as good as most people think it is. The whole virtual reality/reality angle isn't particularly new, or even presented freshly, but since most people aren't acquainted with science fiction that well they're impressed. The acting is horrible; I wouldn't expect much from the male lead, but even the other actors, some of who have showed talent elsewhere give wooden performances. The movie is put together well, and while the art direction is the usual Ridley Scott/H.R. Giger ripoff it's at least done professionally. The action scenes are well-choreographed, though I've seen a lot better. All in all a decent movie.

Summary: a very slick and entertaining slice of sci fi cool
Review: Well....what a wonderful surprise the matrix turned out to be. Kind of sneaking in through the back door while everyone was waiting in 5 mile queues for the Phantom Menace and delivering arguably the finest sci-fi / cyberpunk movie experience for quite some time.

This movie is genuinely innovative on loads of different levels it is frankly difficult not to be swept up with all that's taking place on onscreen. From the polished direction courtesy of the Wachowski brothers (messrs Andy and Larry) to a not completely useless performance from Keanu Reeves. The supporting cast work extremely well, especially Lawrence Fishburne who looks cooler than cool with his pair of little clip on shades and not forgetting relative newcomer Carrie Ann Moss, who plays the hard as nails trinity.

But the real stars of the show have to be the effects. From slo-mo kung fu fights that run the gamut of every Jackie Chan trick you've probably ever seen, to scenes of pure arenaline pumping bullet carnage that would frankly make master of hardware John Woo sit down and scribble a few notes.

Yep, this is a movie that lives upto it's own hype, an excellent and inventive story, some brilliant eye candy and no Jar Jar binks to get on your nerves.

Just remember to buy some band aids for your chin...for it will be hitting the ground quite a lot when you watch this film.

Summary: What you expect from an action movie, 10 fold.
Review: Went to see this (in a theater, like you're supposed to, you lowly hermits) expecting a stupid action flick. Left the theater juiced up and ready to take on the world, or what we think the world is. Yeah, it's corny in that good way, and the bible references are particularly annoying, but it's also a really fun movie. Movies, in case some of you forgot, are an escape from our little realities, and in this case, a really fun escape.

Hey, hermits! Log off, take a shower, and get outside into the real world! Stop hiding under your trenchcoat hoods on the bus reading Piers Anthony and ignoring the people around you because they don't give you RPG points. You're alive! And movies are one of the great things that will remind you you're alive, especially in their intended setting (that's right, a movie theater.) Unplug yourself!!!

Summary: It just doesn't matter because we're in the Matrix
Review: What a concept! I love the special effects! And it is also capitalizes on the theory of mind over matter.
