Rating: Summary: An amazing DVD.... but the plot goes deeper!! Review: The matrix is definitely one the of the best movies I have ever seen. The action was amazing, the plot magnificent, and the characters were well suited to their parts and their acting was stupendous. However there is a lot more to this movie than meets the eye. Several days ago when I was watching the movie I was surprised how the story-line of the movie parallels that of the bible. First of all is Neo who would resemble Jesus. Neo is born in the fake world, is "re-born" by 'morpheus', and through his death and resurrection is able to overcome the matrix and defeat the AGENTS(the devil) finalize what he is. Morpheus is like John the Baptist who is in a sense "preparing the way for the ONE". Another similarity I found was the old matrix and EDEN. The old matrix was a perfect place but humans rejected it and were then forced to work and toil for the rest of their lives in misery and pain. I think it is also ironic how Neo kills the main AGENT in the end of the movie. The agent dies with his arms spread out in mockery of Jesus on the cross. I've heard of many other parallels within Christianity and many other religions as well. It just makes you wonder if it was all a giant fluke or if the producer and storywriters of the matrix had something deeper in mind. Just keep that in mind the next time you watch it. Maybe you'll find some other parallels as well.
Rating: Summary: The best sci-fi movie this decade... Review: The Matrix is easily the best science-fiction piece of the year (better than Star Wars), and in my opinion, better than anything this decade. Some of the best special effects ever, an interesting plot, even Keanu Reeves was good. Honestly, I didn't see this movie until a few weeks after it was released. I saw it three more times in the theater, and I'll be first in line for DVD.
Rating: Summary: Superb! William Gibson meets Joseph Campbell! Review: The Matrix is fantastic! There isn't any other way to sayit. It follows the classic "Hero's Journey" and borrowsfrom Campbell even more blatantly than Lucas did with Star Wars... The action scenes are incredible, the plot line engrossing and the acting was quite good. Even Reeves, whose performances I normally consider flat, shined in his role as "Neo". Either he has matured as an actor, the directors catered to his "style" and made it work wonders, or both! I highly recommend this film to anyone who wants to see a solid, action packed, sci-fi masterpiece!
Rating: Summary: A great movie!!!!! Review: The Matrix is full of surprising stunts and wild action sequences and nice for the whole family. Many people say this movie is inappropriate for children due to the movie's R-rating, but to their astonishment, the kids really enjoy it and are not scared. But please do not take your kids if you know they'll copy off stunts and try to act like the characters in the movie because many scenes in the movie, including the ending involves dangerous stunts and stunning visual effects. Some kids who see it just want to be cool. The movie is about Neo (Keanu Reeves) who is taken out to meet Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) who teaches Neo that his life is surrounded by a computer called "The Matrix" which he feels, but didn't see. He can see it too. Morpheus tours Neo inside The Matrix, teaching him all he can and Neo is facing some tough challenges. There are some scenes of violence which will offend parents, mostly ones who's a mother of father of a toddler. The movie continues, and its running time is 136 minutes. It's overall smart, interesting and exciting. It is a nice movie to own, but since everyone has different tastes, don't buy it immediately if you didn't see it before. Rent it first, try to reserve it in the library because if you rent movies in stores it costs money, and the library is free.
Rating: Summary: Great movie, but Keanu.... Review: The Matrix is good, granted. The movie is amazing. Weaving and Fishburn are brilliant. Keanu is, well, Keanu. The man cannot act! But, alas, the movie pulls through anyway. so0, whatever. Ting-a-ling.
Rating: Summary: The best movie in years!!!! Review: The Matrix is hands down the best movie to see this year. The special effects are amazing and the story line is unmatched. If you like movies that throw twists at you you will love this movie. There are not enough stars to give this one!!!
Rating: Summary: This Movie basically Rocks! Review: The Matrix is in a class of it's own with sound and visual technology that is on the cutting edge.
Rating: Summary: The Matrix Is Close To Our So-Called Reality Review: The Matrix is more real than we think. We are in short symbiotic creatures created by a higher being programmed to do one thing: to live and better ourselves to become divine-like beings. That is the purpose that we are exist in this earthly world. Just think about it for one second...Without purpose, we are just some mindless people that are roaming the earth to comsume up natural resources and enjoy our lives out meaninglessly. This very meaning, if think through thoroughly, can help us understand our existence. The Matrix is truly a masterpiece putting together to teach us one thing. The world is not shallow and one dimension. That our existence has a purpose that allows us to elevate to another higher dimension if we understand what life is all about. It is our decision to choose how to live it because we have free will. But when you realize what you can capable of become, you can be on higher level than everyone else and that makes you become the "One" -an anomaly. This then will help you see what many others can't see. They can only perceive through you but not what's in you. Take knowledge for example. People say, I quote, "Knowledge is power!" Power of self. Power of devine. Power of greatness.
Rating: Summary: Life Changiing Movie Review: The Matrix is more than a well made sci-fi genre film, it questions the very essence of reality as we know it. I found it deeply spiritual and philosophical plus very exciting and great special effects rich :)
Rating: Summary: Puts Star Wars to shame! Review: The Matrix is movie of the year for a number of reasons. One, it is an intelligent movie, well balanced with nuances that never go over the top or undershoot. It is a timeless story about repression, delusion, and the soul's stirring to wake up. It is allegorical and tells us the story of how all of us really are asleep to reality, living our lives in ignorance in this shadow land of the material world. The Matrix is in all our minds and this movie is closer to the truth than most would care or dare to admit. That is why it is so powerful. Those who laugh at the story line and think it is just a clever movie miss the point entirely. And it is not about anarchy although some may read that into it. What it is about is what we are all about: freeing ourselves from the limitations imposed upon us by our own minds.
