Rating: Summary: OK Maybe it was just me? Review: OK Maybe it was just me, but I was REALLY confused when this movie ended. I guess maybe I was really tired but I don't understand?! Why was every flying around, going into the crappy world anyway?! I didn't understand it and it was not an intellectual movie either!! There were no long serious themes going on in this movie, nothing earth shattering. I think that it was an action flick, nothing more nothing less. Don't expect any more. It said nothing long lasting, and was in no way a classic, ok it had cool special effects but so did a lot of bad movies. OK, I am sorry to be the odd one out and say I didn't like it but I didn't! I don't think this one is worth it, maybe a rental. Make it a Blockbuster night :)
Rating: Summary: .... Review: Ok right off the actor Reeves is not a good actor. Worst of allhe was suppose to be this martial artist but he had no movesperiod. The way they exagerated the fights was horrable. On the other hand the special effects were great and the story line and idea were good but if you saw Dark City you would realize where they got the idea for the movie. Best part about it was that it makes you question the reality that you were given and shown to you.
Rating: Summary: The movie is about hacking you 1 star bozos!! Review: Ok so this movie has a lot of mind blowing and for some people meaningless action. A lot of people loved the movie for the action. Whether on purpose or accident Dark City was the father of The Matrix and the many other reality questioning movies that will come in the future. But let's get real here once Keanu Reeves character is made aware of what's really happening the remainder of the story could be depicted by Neo (a hacker legend) sitting at a terminal trying to break into the mainframe. The battles and interaction with the Smiths are either the fire wall, the operating system, or the mainframe itself but we should all get the point - the action is a symbol for what is really happening the manipulation of ones and zeros. Hacking is not visibly exciting hense we have the 1st of the Trilogy in all it's active glory. If you enjoyed the Philosophical and social questions it raised, fantastic your a thinker! If you enjoyed the innovations and the action, excellent! But don't tell me this movie was simple and lacks originality unless maybe your favorite activities involve things like riding a Barrel over Niagra, or Sky-diving nude over a volcano.
Rating: Summary: one of the most overrated movies of all time Review: Ok whoever looks at this movie as one of the best of the year or of all time for that matter is either glued to their computer all day arguing about klingons on the internet. Or they probably dont see that many movies. Its not an original plot(hello, dark city),and it has a very lame and predictable script. It also has a very high cheese factor. It is a good action flick regardless, and has mind blowing effects. An alright movie but c'mon stop fooling yourself and see some real movies.
Rating: Summary: THE MATRIX ROCKS THE HOUSE Review: Ok, basicaly this movie rocked, well I didn't get one thing for the first 45 min of the movie, but after that it all clicked in place. I liked the scene where Reeves and Fishburn were fighting in the computer. I only wish that it would come out sooner on VHS
Rating: Summary: The best science fiction movie I have ever seen Review: ok, I admit at first when my brother asked me to see it I refused. I wasn't a big sci-fi fan. The story line seemed confusing and the plot didn't sound all that great. But one day I was bored so we went to see it. It was great. I saw 2 more times after that, and I will by the video. This movie was a classic from opening day, and it will always be.
Rating: Summary: The first movie everyone should own on DVD Review: OK, if you don't own this movie, close your browser right now. This is, by far, the best combination of complex/fascinating plot, action, special effects and acting ever created. Keanu's role is kept carefully dry while the other characters reveal the dark, somber realities of The Matrix. Trust me, if you don't want to buy this movie, I'll send you the money for it, and you can pay me back when you feel like you've gotten your money's worth -you will watch it again, and again and again...
Rating: Summary: it's good... but come on! it's NOT all that! Review: ok, ok... i admit it... it's a good movie. but all those of you out there who think that this is the best move ever... get your head out of the clouds! it has great action scenes, but that's about it! this movie is way, way, way too long and there aren't nearly as many action scenes as it would need to be a great movie. and let's face it... keanu reeves can't possibly carry a movie as its leading man. i think its an ok movie, but only if you are willing to put in the endless hours to watch it.
Rating: Summary: awesome movie with awesome features Review: ok, so everybody said "this movie would suck without special effects." well that's just the point. Nobody ever said the matrix was a dialogue filled intellectual feast. However, for anyone who is a fan of great filmaking, this movie is a must see. the matrix contains some of the greatest camerawork, cinematography, and audacious angles in movie history. The experience is made even better on DVD with the digital quality picture and sound, and the huge array of features only on the DVD. Especially cool is the running commentary from those who made the film in one feature, and the inclusion of the "making of" documentary. Its interesting to see just how the amazing visuals of the film were pulled off. All in all, a good waste of 20 bucks ;-).
Rating: Summary: Very Deep Ninja Movie? Review: OK, so it's not a ninja movie. Even though the only way these people fight hand-to-hand is through oriental fighting styles. Be that as it may, this film blew everyone away the summer of 1999, myself included. Granted, it took several viewings to get the whole thing figured, but that's alright. A story like this doesn't come along very often, and the mind-blowing visual effects are worth watching again and again and again. Keanu Reeves really doesn't have to do much here, other than fight judo-style, but he really doesn't have to. Laurence Fishbune is fantastic as Morpheus, the leader of the human resistance. Carrie-Anne Moss is a knock-out in her role as Trinity, the love interest for Neo(Reeves), and a real tough chick in her own fights. This film began the Matrix trilogy, and is easily the best of the three. It can stand apart from the other two, as it was originally meant to be a one shot deal. Personally, that's how I think of this film : as a stand-alone achievement. Not many movies this day and age make people go "huh?" and think about things the way this one did. Any DVD collection should include this fine film.
