Summary: Great sequel
Review: The Matrix caught the world by surprise, you can't expect Reloaded to have the same exact shine to it. However, if you liked The Matrix, this is a must see. It explains alot that was left out in the open after the first movie. I see so many people complaining about the rave scene and the sex scene. Come on people, get over it. To claim this scene made the whole movie suck, means you should have your fingers removed. The action in this movie far succeeds any movie i have ever seen. There i said it, and theres no way to argue against that. Sure i kinda felt like laughing when neo and trinity were making love, but i was in awe of the fight scenes, and the plot was very strong. It leads you up to the Revolution, and that is what it is supposed to do. Nobody who enjoyed the first movie should pass this up, and i doubt anyone will.

Summary: The Matrix Reloaded
Review: The premise behind the Matrix-machines using humans as batteries- is extremely silly. ~takes deep breath~... In reality, each human doesn't even generate enough electrical charge in a whole year to keep a light bulb lit. I'm assuming machines would be smart enough to realize this, and hating humans as much as the AI tried to convey, the machines would simply rid the planet of all these stupid, inefficient life forms and get on with...ummm...whatever... And if humans retaliated by blocking the sun to try to stop them, the so-called original energy source of the machines, again, the machines would be smart enough to use their last bit of energy to send solar collectors into orbit, and whatever other machines they could get up there, and simply continue on with their campaign of killing off the stinking human menace. But I was willing to forego the unbelievability of that with the first Matrix movie and just sit back and be entertained. It was fun to watch. But in Matrix Reloaded we find just how stupid the AI really is. Not only is there a "bad" AI, there is now a "good" AI. But the good AI is too dumb to correct the obviously flawed construct, Neo, it has created to save mankind from jumping around in muddy puddles in an orgy of jungle madness,(good lord, save me from this future!). Instead, it continues to allow Neo to "reload" and "reload" and "reload" the Matrix, ad nauseum, (I'm assuming this is the reason for the name of this film), because Neo would rather save his girlfriend construct than the whole human race....duh. Hmmm...maybe these stupid machines deserve their fate of trying to glean energy from humans afterall. I suppose the reason I'm being sooo picky with this second film is the fact that this one was just plain boring. It was one set-up after another so we could watch Neo fight in special-effects limbo and, ugh...so the Wachowski brothers could stuff their irritating philosophies about what's-wrong-with-YOUR-society and what's-right-about-OUR-ways-to-correct-it, down our collective throats. I bought the first Matrix DVD but I advise people to not bother with this one--and I have a suggestion for the name of the final pic in this triology-- "Matrix: Uninterested"

Review: the one explained
"the one" is a program, but has to be "attached" to someone in the matrix. so mr. anderson got it in the 6th version of the matrix. then "the one" program's purpose is to allow zion to be destroyed then to rebuild it. the reason for this is because of anomalies - the 1% of humans that don't accept the matrix. these are all brought out of the matrix program and into the zion program by the "morpheus" program and other
similar "ship captain" programs. then once all the anomalies are out of the matrix (and in zion), that is the time for zion to be destroyed, thus killing all the anomalies off. the matrix is then upgraded, thus creating the next version of the
matrix, but zion must be rebuilt so that the next lot of anomalies can be brought out again so that they can be destroyed. this is the feedback-loop, and is the reason to retain a handful of people so that zion can be rebuilt. so this is why neo said the prophecy was a lie - the one's purpose was not to end the war as the prophecy stated. unfortunately, "the one" program must be re-used each time, or copied, so it can be "attached" to a new anomaly inside the matrix. so what happens to the old "the one" program? it faces deletion, and as the oracle explained, it goes into exile instead, just like the french bloke (the merovingian) did. he was the first one (probably from the second version of the matrix), and once he fulfilled his duty, he became an exile program and "abdicated" his "oneness" by choosing persephone and power. this is evident in the bogs when persephone asks neo to kiss her. she says she wants
him to kiss her so she can feel what it is like again to be kissed by something close to human, just like the merovingian used to be. then she says to trinity that she
envies her, but that these things are not meant to last. so the merovingian used to be just like neo - a one - thus proving further the feedback-loop explained earlier.

Summary: Excuse the Hype
Review: It seems audiences have been 'dumbed down' by the lastest trend of rehashing old movies or plots and giving them a 'new' feel when really they are simply full of lame clichès to keep audiences oooh and aweing at something that has been done a hundred times in the past -only now with better looking special effects-. The Matrix Reloaded, however, is a perfect example of a movie that takes an original idea (the first Matrix), and builds on it with even more plot twists and unexpected turns. All the hope that the climax of the last movie gave viewers was taken away when we realize what is actually happening. A sense of impending doom leaves a sour taste in your mouth, and you can only hope they survive what will be the final battle between the Machines and the Humans. Most people didn't like it because either they couldn't grasp the story, or it wasn't as promising in the end as the last one was. It is the same with most movies. Hype builds up on a movie and we get these ridiculous expectations that it will cater to the masses when really the original was truly meant for a select crowd whom the creators were trying to reach. Don't feel bad if you didn't like it, the true fans who grasped the Matrix for what it really was (aside from the special effects) all seem to understand and appreciate what is a truly great movie with so much more added on to the mystique and philosophy of the original. They could not have done a better job. The pressure they felt creating this one to make it a 'commercial' success obviously didn't reach the Watchowski brothers, and luckily they kept the original essense of the story intact.The special effects were great as well. The freeway scene is definately something that has never been done (or tried) before. Neo's growing powers and realization of what we believe is the truth so far (until we see the next and get thrown into another plot twist) was excellent. Cold hearted programs and personality conflicts within the Matrix and Zion were very true to any group of people trying to survive with what they believe are their best options. And the rave scene, I'm terribly sorry if this small portion of the movie ruined your idea of a 2 dimensional action movie... you obviously missed something. Go ahead and watch Charlie's Angels, that movie was a little more catered for your needs. Those who immersed themselves in the story of this world and it's Matrix will gladly wait for the third movie, understandning that it is truly a story for survival where we are merely viewing the events of a world the Watchowskis created, and not a commercial attraction where we go in for our special effects fix thankful for another rehash of what's been done a hundred times before. All in all this was an excellent example of good storytelling by the Watchowski brothers. Buy the movie, sit back and enjoy over two hours of one of our generations greatest achievements in visual entertainment.

Summary: DVD is a necessity to go deeper
Review: If you are a fan of the film, as I am, you saw it more than once in theaters. The first time around I was very focused on trying to remember everything so I could piece together the story later. I saw it again and helped to answer some of my own questions, I realized that I "missed" a few things, plus it was a much more relaxing film experience. My point is that, like the Matrix, there is enough "story behind story" to make this film fun to watch over and over and over. You will notice new things every time. Reloaded has action like never seen before in a movie but the real enjoyment is the mental exercise that you will get in deciphering all the plot elements and trying to figure out where the story is going and where it's been and how the messages might relate to your own (and OUR own) existence. It seems to me that those who hate the movie just don't enjoy the unanswered questions. Don't expect to be spoon-fed your story. There is no.... well, YOU get the picture. For those unfamiliar with the movie, don't dismiss it as just an action movie. If you ever pondered any of life philosophical questions this will rekindle your interest. (Just make sure to watch The Matrix first. Several times.) Also note that this movie is not conclusive. It ends mid-story with a bit of a cliff hanger. That's not a bad thing since it gives fans time to digest and discuss it. To be concluded with the release of "Revolutions" in November. Bravo to WB for not making us wait until 2004. Seeing Reloaded twice just wasn't enough. I look forward to the DVD not just for the extras but the ability to watch it again and again.

Summary: Great Movie, with Minor Flaws
Review: Ok, ok, ok. There is one thing that I should get out about this movie, and that is that "The Matrix Reloaded" is either a love it or hate it movie. My opinion is that the movie was great, and even though the great story from the first Matrix was dumbed down to sometimes inconprehensible talking, I think that the fight scenes made up for it. So, yes, without a GREAT story, a mvie can seem [terrible], but that's the thing that many people do not understand. "The Matrix Reloaded" does have a good story, it's just that the way it's told in the movie many people find "Boring". There is a lot of talking, yes, but if people just sit down and truly "LISTEN", then maybe, it can make sense (even though I was lost ...when the Maker of the Matrix started talking). Either way, the fight scenes were choreographed wonderfully, and with an average of 10 mins per fight scene, what more can you ask fore? Like I said, it's either you love it or you hate it. Great special effects, and incredible action scenes, mixed with a little bit of boredom during those periods of talking earn "The Matrix Reloaded" in my opinion a 4 of 5 Stars. "Free your mind...." Summary: Original was Better; BUT THIS ONE ROCKS!!
Review: I saw The Matrix Reloaded three times opening week--starting the afternoon it came out. I was not disappointed. Sure, it's not as mind-blowing as the original--but how could it be? It's an add-on to the plot, fleshing-out the characters and giving them some more action-packed scenes to enjoy. The multiple Mr. Smiths are ridiculous, taking my rating down from five stars, but it's still great. The freeway chase is incredible. The action rocks. The music rocks. I'm looking forward to the next installment, and I'm glad it's coming soon.

Summary: Worth the Wait!! Worth the Time!! Worth the Money!!!
Review: I waited to do this review, although I saw it the Friday of the week it was released. Okay so I had to wait in a 2 1/2 hour line.. who cares I was the 3rd person in line. Okay so I get a little excited at all of the cool "Neo-is-Badd-" scenes.... so I'm a girl GO FIGURE and okay the end where he meets the program designer lost me from "GO"... so I'm not a super flippin genius. All those things aside it was entertainment. I was entertained it did seemed very long but there was NO WAY I was going to move from my seat. {Trinity} ROCKED on that bike, {Morpheus} held it down on top of that 18 wheeler, all of the fight scenes with Neo were Badd as all get out... but nothing could top the scene with all of the Mr. Anderson.... Heck, I was winded okayyyyyyy like I was right there with him just knocking them down. Yes, the movie had some drag time and some scenes where you were wondering "Why is this in here and what does it have to do with anything" (Zion Dance Sequence is what I like to call it LOL) the 2 albino blondes with the dreads didn't get as much screen time as the trailers lead you to believe but I'm sure you will see more of them in the next one. They usually say that the middle movie is the weakest with Trilogies (sp) case in point LOTR: The Two Towers so my guess is that most people weren't going to like this one as much. Still for the fact that the OG Matrix was a surprise hit and featured special effects never seen before by most American audience, was a HUGE act to follow. Some time ago I was on a boycott from movie going because I thought that Hollywood was taking our money and putting out [pooh]... Actors weren't trying very hard, they were allowing just anyone to be in a movie, the price of movies at the theaters were steadily increasing but the product was not, movies with all the bells and whistle with very little plausible plots. Unfortunately this movie's plot did not impress me but the Bells and Whistles sure did LOL :) Is it really worth the full price of say $12.00 admission nope but this is a movie that is best seen on the BIG SCREEN don't cheat yourself out of the experience by reading all these reviews and surmising to wait and see it on DVD TRUST ME you will not be watching the same movie everyone else saw. Do yourself a favor and see it while it's still out its worth it. Respectfully Reviewed

Summary: Great but there were things that dragged it down
Review: I really want to give this movie 4 stars but I can't for the same reasons others have stated here: The Zion rave scene, the Neo/Trinity love scene, and to a lesser extent the rags that most of the cast and extra's wear for costumes. The latter is a relatively minor inconsistency that I can overlook, even though the Zion traffic controllers seemed to be impeccably costumed. The first two points of detraction were an utter waste of film and time that I don't understand why they were not cut. Probably some studio pin head forced those two scenes to be kept for the teenage audience. Still, I would imagine that there are some in that group that will find these scenes just as much a waste of time. If you can get past that, and I have, then you'll find that there is a lot more than meets the eye on subsequent viewings. For instance, the number of members of the Zion council is 23. The exact number of chromosomes that we all carry, and the fact that Neo must choose them: 17 women and 6 men. Are the members of the council the original individuals that Neo chooses each time Zion has been destroyed? Once I realized that, really by accident, I went from being mildly dissapointed with the film to being highly intrigued by what else might be hidden in plain sight within the film. I'll close with one last minor criticism that in no way detracts from the film as a whole. That is the use of CGI in the fight scene in the square after the Oracle has left. At times it was too obvious. I think that the brothers should have stuck to the live action wire work in the fight scenes that made The Matrix such an eye popping spectacle. I give the film 3-1/2 stars.
