Rating: Summary: awesome Review: compared to other movies it rock
Rating: Summary: I absolutley loved this film. Review: This is a great movie. I missed this one in the cinema and I regret it. I first saw ID4 when it came out on video in the full screen format. When it came on sale I bought the wide screen format and I believe it was a wise choice. The music score by David Arnold is one of the best film scores I have ever heard and the special effects were totally believable.
Rating: Summary: ID4 is another Will Smith favorite movie I love to enjoy! Review: This is the most entertaining and a awesome special, visual effects film from three years ago last Summer in movie theatres everywhere. Includes aliens destroying New York City and rest of it's world. But who decides to save the day is Smith and Jeff Goldblum to fight battle against them with a little help from friends in war!
Rating: Summary: Ever notice... Review: Did you notice that the aliens destroy almost every city in America - but don't touch Canada or Mexico?
Rating: Summary: Pure uninspired trash Review: This is probably the worst science fiction film ever shown at a theater. I rented it when it first came out on video to give it a second chance. It was even worse the second time. The only good thing about Independence Day is the always reliable Jeff Goldblum.
Rating: Summary: ID4, a movie to be entertained! Review: I went to go see ID4 on July 4th, 1996. It enhanced the experience the whole way. ID4 was never meant to be taken philosophically or literally. The whole point of the movie was to be entertained, and it is one movie you can watch when you are bored with everyday life and you want something to excite you and give you a real adrenalin rush. ID4 was a feel good movie. That is all it really was. It made you want to scream, "We sure kicked some Alien Butt." It was refreshing to see a different perspective on the theme, "man vs. man, man vs. machine, or man vs, nature." It was "Man vs. Alien." It is not to be compared to other sci-fi films, for it pretty much stands on it's own. You have an army of men fighting an army of aliens. That is something you don't see everyday! Although, it was a remake of H.G. Well's "War of The Worlds," I believe the writers of the show were intending to make it fun and entertaining, and not deep and profound as it's predecessor. Compare "The Fly," 1958 to "The Fly," 1986. The remake was by far different and was deep and profound, unlike it's own predecessor, but is considered a great or better movie than it's original version. Cheers! Rebbecca McGarity
Rating: Summary: B movie at its zenith Review: In my humble opinion, too many people have taken "Independence Day" way too seriously. Yes, it's got every B movie cliche in the book, but I think/hope that that was the point! I view this as a comedy, not science fiction. Everyone and everything was over the top (particularly Brent Spiner), but in a wonderfully delicious way (ditto Spiner). It's a movie to howl at, not believe! Just think of it as a story about urban renewal, Godzilla-style, and you'll be fine.
Rating: Summary: Purely awful Review: Only reason I saw this is because of compulsion towards Sci-Fi. What a waste of time. How the hell could a race powerfull enough to build heavily armed floating cities and transport them across interstellar distances be fowled by a man made computer virus. Yeah right, that would be like a Bronze age man trying to figure out how to sink the entire US Navy using a captured laptop. Not to mention bad, script, acting, plot eugh!
Rating: Summary: one of my favorite movies of that summer ID4 is cool!! Review: Ok bit rips off several aliens invasions before (mainly war of the worlds ) .The movie takes place in three acts.July 2 they arrive. July 3 we return attack july 4 we fight back. It was one of the biggest blockbusters of 1996 . The invasion begins as gaint spaceships begin to arrive all over earth. But soon the wonder turnd into terror. Cities are destroyed. Now the only hope for defeating the aliens is a group of suriviors played by Bill Pullman(president of the USA) currently in "Lake Placid"; Will Smith (Enemy of the State,Wild Wild West,Men in Black) ; Mary McDonnell (dances With wolves); Judd Hirsch(Taxi) Randy Qauid(Hard Rain and National Lampoon movies);Robbert Loggia; James Rebhorn(The Game) and Harvey Fierstien(Mrs.Doubtfire) It also co-stars Brent Spiner of Star Trek fame . Adam Baldwin(alec's brother is also in this blockbuster), The cast is perfect and believable in their roles. The special effects are awesome . The only problems I have were is the DVD?Will Fox ever release in this form?It is little long but is still a fast paced movie, I forgot to Vivica A Fox also stars(her claim to fame and stardom) ID4 is about 130 minutes(2 1/2 hours) . The music by David Arnold(stargate,Godzilla) It is still fun to watch if you want a patriotic movie like "The Rock" which aslo came out that summer(another of my favorite flicks) In closing "ID4 is undeniably fun" . It in THX for superior picture and sound quality. It is also closed captioned for the hearing impaired ( if you like to read the dialog) So once again "ID4 is undeliably fun".!!!a must for a any movie collector, science ficton fan !!!
Rating: Summary: A Disapointment Review: This movie, for me, was a disapointment. Good special effects, yes, but that only goes so far. This was also some sort of send-up of sci-fi movies of the past, but they played it so straight-faced the actors come off looking more like cliches than anything else. The dialogue was laughable and you knew what was going to happen before it did. "Mars Attacks" is a way better movie to me because they went all the way with the camp humor and sci-fi references and it came out as it should be: a lot of fun. This movie tried that, but it also tried to be dramatic at the same time, so it failed at both.
