Summary: A soon to be classic
Review: Treasure Planet is among one of the top quality animation films. It now uses computer and digital art as well as hand drawn. The movie was intriging. Jim is a character we can all relate to. He needs to find himself, so he jumps at the chance to sail into space. The emotions in this movie are very strong, especially the bond between Jim and Silver. This movie will soon become recognized for the wonderful piece it truly is. Don't trust the charts, Treasure Planet is awesome!!!

Summary: Even my son loved it!
Review: I was intrigued when I saw the previews, but didn't necessarily want to go see it. My boyfriend wanted to however so I went with him. I was suprised at how good and how close to the book it was. It came out on my son's first birthday, so I took him to see it too, not sure if he would be good, but willing to try since I knew I liked it and he was glued to the TV when it was advertised. My one-ear-old sat enthralled by the animation, (but he kept laughing at all the quiet suspenseful moments). I have since bought him books, clothes, and toys pertaining to the movies, and plan to buy him the DVD as soon as it's available.

Summary: Pure Disney Magic
Review: If you are a fan of any disney movie you'll love Treasure Planet.I am 13 and mainly enjoy action/adventure movies like Minority Report or X-Men.For a while I had sorta grown out of Disney until Treasure Planet.I was intrigued from the very start to the very finish. There was plenty of action but not the kinda action that would scare little kids more like explosions and blasters. The animation was by far the best I have ever scene with several shots that made my jaw drop.I realize Treasure Planet is no longer in theaters and when it was it only grossed around 32 million but please don't let the charts fool you. This is a gem and spectacular movie that should not be missed.Thank you disney.

Summary: Treasure Planet is what going to the movies is all about.
Review: Like the title says, Treasure Planet, Disney's newest cinema release, is what going to the movies is all about. I find it interesting that some adults complain about the sci-fi angle not being true to the original Stevenson story, while youths are saying that it inspired them to read the original story. Surely a movie that can inspire youngsters to read the classics in this day and age can't be all bad.

In fact, it's quite good. Treasure Planet fist offers a wonderful feast for the eyes. My wife and I always make it a point to see a Disney movie in theatres at least once, and Treasure Planet would have been a lost opportunity if we had passed on it. The animation is spectacular, with fluid motion and an organic feel to the characters. Disney is definitely getting a better handle on merging their hand-drawn and computer-generated animation.

Moviegoers that panned Lilo & Stitch will probably not care for Treasure Planet. It's not your standard Disney formula. Things don't start off rosy, get a little shady, then go right back to a blissful existence under the sea. The story stays mostly true to Stevenson's tale about a boy becoming a man, and discovering the strength inside himself to carve out his own destiny.

The sci-fi angle brings a fresh spin to the story, and Disney has managed to make cruising the stars resemble taking to the seas, but with a broader feel. The only downside is the idea of spacefaring vessels looking like tall ships is more proof that Disney steals a lot of ideas from anime. But, since anime grew out of the Japanese interpretation of the Disney style, it's only fair.

Thrills, action, adventure, a hint of romance, and a healthy dose of humor, coupled with some of the best animation Disney has done in a while make Treasure Planet worth seeing.

Although, I could have lived without the flatulent alien.

Summary: It is "Star Wars" and "Treasure Island"
Review: This is a great movie, why including B.E.N. (Bio Electronic Navigator), he's really funny, why I didn't know that Doctor Doppler, and Captain Amelia, are married. I give this movie a ***** (5 out of 5).

Summary: awesome!
Review: I didn't even know what this movie was about until I was in the theatre, but from the moment that I saw the trailer on TV and on the net, I knew that I had to see this movie. The music is sweet, the animation is awesome, and not only did I enjoy the story, but there was humor! I was drawn into the story, and thouroughly enjoyed this flick. The concept of sailing ships in outer space was just breathtaking, and Disney did a superb job with this movie. I just hope the DVD release will have some sweet extras!

Summary: Best Disney Film Ever
Review: Simply put, this is the best Disney film I've ever seen, Glen Keane's animation on John Silver is amazing, as well as John Ripa's Animation on Jim is quite astounding. The storyline stays almost true to the roots originating from the novel, "Treasure Island" with the most minor of modifications Disney has ever made to a film ever. With an enchanting tail that any teenager can relate to and will remind adults of their own journies through adolescence, Treasure Planet touches upon a subject that most anybody can relate to.

Summary: A Good Story Version and Great Imagery!
Review: TREASURE PLANET was a refreshing film. Refreshing because it took an old great story and gave it a new twist. Robert Louis Steveson's Treasure Island was pointed toward space and given fresh life with new and inventive characters. Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker (The Little Mermaid, Hercules, Aladdin) and the film is filled with colorful images and state-of-the-art computer graphics. But more importantly, Treasure Planet is sprinkled with interesting characters throughout.

You have your hero voiced by Joeseph Gordon Levitt (Third Rock From The Sun) as Jim Hawkins and his mother voiced by Lori Metcalf (Rosanne, Runaway Bride, Toy Story 2) and the smart - but bumbling doctor - voiced by David Hyde Pierce (Fraiser, A Bug'sLifeo go on a quest to find the legendary treasure hidden away on this mystical planet. A quest started by the intervention of a fugitive pilot with a secret map.

Along the way they attain a crew captained by Emma Thompson (Dead Again, Junior Howard's End) and her first mate voiced by Rosco Lee Brown (Logan's Run, Space, Elvis) the villain played by Patrick McGoohan (The Avengers, Braveheart) and the infamous Long John Silver voiced by Brian Murery (Hamlet, Another World) who goes from being a bad guy to a bad guy with a silver lining.

The music is impressive and compliments the images as done by James Newton Howard (Dreamcatcher, Signs, Unbreakable) and the colorful backgrounds with the intricate sets and props make this a "real" looking animated film.

This is a nice wholesome film for the entire family and everyone should enjoy it. I'm hoping the DVD release of this film has lost of extras. (12-22-02)
