Summary: T3 is Great Fun!
Review: This movie is so much fun! The movie deserves a PG-13 rating.
If you enjoy catchy one-liners (Talk to da hand!, I lied.), non-stop action, seat-riveting suspense, and engaging characters, you'll enjoy T-3. The newest villian is a tough act and very well-played. The stunts were extremely difficult and demanding (highlighted in the bonus tracks). The door for T-4 is open just a crack...hope we haven't seen the last of our heroes.

Summary: Worst of the series
Review: This is a movie that simply past it's prime. It's a movie that should have been made long ago and today simply capitalizes on the previous success of the series and plenty of action and special effects to bring in crowds. First of all the movie was NOT made by James Cameron (the creator and director of the other 2 terminator movies). This is the main reason why T3 is so bad in comparison to the other movies. There is no hint of Camerons style. T2 in particular had a distinct "feel" to the movie - a blend of action, mild humor, and an epic theme that melded together into a style that just worked well. T3 without cameron is like a child without a father and suffers from this in a very apparent way as can be seen in it's flawed delivery. The plot has arnold returning as a reprogramed terminator on a mission to defend John Conner (once again) from death at the hands of an even deadlier terminator - the female TX. We learn that judgment day was not stopped by the events of the last movie (big shock), only posponed. The mission now is not to stop judgment day, but to survive it. The addition of connor's future wife and 2nd in command into the plot is intriguing, yet with the exception of a few moments, this was never expanded upon in the movie as much as it could have been. The TX is even more advanced than the T1000 of T2, and sports some nifty nano technology that lets her control other machines as well as morph her physical form into complex weapons - a logical progression from the last "new" teminator bad guy. This lends itself to an abundant amount of cool special effects, although some of the effects are a bit too flashy and feel like the sort of CGI you'd expect from an intro sequence to a video game. The fights between arnold and the TX are pretty hard hitting, with some good action sequences... it's great when they bust each other up, though this is a little over used throughout the entirety of T3. At the bottom of my frustration with this movie is that the whole scenario of 2 terminators sent back in time feels old and done already. In many ways T3 felt too much like a remake of T2, without any of the human elements that made T2 so great. I also could not help but cringe at the acting here. The acting barely passes for decent through most of the movie, while in several places the acting is downright awful. I couldnt help laughing a few times at some of the just plain corny lines, and in particular arnold's all-around poor performance. Besides that, most of T3 felt a bit rushed, while the action was almost non-stop, the moments inbetween were very poor, showing that the director was only really paying attention to the action sequences and special effects, unlike cameron who masterfully blended the action together with a sutible amount of drama and softer scenes, without coming off as corny. Im tempted to give this movie 2 stars thanks to the bad acting and poor scripting. But T3 still serves a purpose if all you want is plenty of action and CG effects. If you're looking for the truely great conclusion that the series deserved... you'll be very disapointed.

Review: Can a machine really be that funny? The new concept of a woman cyborg was very interesting. This is the end of the beginning, I hope they can take it to a new level and develop what happens next.... This movie is worth seeing. It answers the question of what happened to the characters in T2. It seems that the machines really wanted to take it to humanity though.

Summary: Good flick... but Arnold was best as the BAD cyborg
Review: The original "Terminator" (1984) is a classic in it's own right. And, "Terminator II - Judgement Day" is also a classic - not as original as T1, but slick production, a killer soundtrack, and incredible stunts and special effects made this perhaps Arnold's most essential movie in recent years. "T3 - Rise Of The Machines" is a classic in it's own right, but falls short in some aspects. Schwarzenegger is back as the old T-101... strong, quick, witty, and tho he's noticeably older... and he still resembles the same old T-101. Relative newcomer Kristanna Loken (as "T-X") plays the role of the "bad machine" trying to kill John Connor. Loken was good in her relentless pursuit and I think she did a fine job for such a demanding role (even tho she had very few lines). The movie falls short in that they could not sign Ed Furlong back for this "T3" edition. Not to mention a missing Linda Hamilton (as Sarah) and master director John Cameron. While Nick Stahl may be a decent actor... I almost felt like we were watching "Doogie Houser, M.D." fill in for the superbly cast Furlong. For me, Stahl just wasn't a good fit here. Claire Danes was OK - nothing out of the ordinary. A sad thought... with Arnold now the governor of California, odds are this could be the last Terminator movie with him in the lead role. "T3" does contain one of the most exciting edge-of-your-seat car/truck/motorcycle chase scenes in recent history. This 2-disc DVD set has all the standard extras with trailers, director/actor commentaries, a storyboard gallery, etc. But over and beyond this set contains a fine "HBO - Behind The Scenes", a visual effects lab (and how they did it), and a very funny gag reel. Worthy purchase? You bet - any Arnold fan should have "T3" in his/her movie library.

Summary: Just not the same without James Cameron at the helm
Review: I loved the Terminator series growing up, so imagine my disappointment at this movie. Yes, it has all the action one could want, but the problem is it's all action and hardly any story. The one change I did like was the casting of Nick Stahl as John Connor. He was a definite improvement over whiny Eddie Furlong. I miss Linda Hamilton and miss the actual emphasis on the action furthering the story. This movie is just about action furthering the studio's pocketbook.

Summary: good action movie bad for the franchise
Review: I bought this movie having not seen it expecting a pretty good bit of action maybe some cool fight sequences with CGI terminator armies. What I got was fair action (the fight sequence at the beginning of T2 was 10X better without any CGI) but a story line that just falls flat by the end. While I am forgiving of some of the quirky science, I hated the 'twist' at the end of Skynet being software and the dark ending. The whole series was based on the fact that skynet was a supercomputer/mainframe. I don't want to sound like some scifi geek but if the program nukes everything what computer left is skynet planning to run on and how in the world is a software program that people wrote going to build thousands of terminators with everything destroyed. I know most people would say just have fun with the movie, but the central theme of the climax just plain doesn't make sense and with that I think we've seen the second sequel to a James Cameron masterpiece ruined (the first being Aliens of course, please don't tell me that anyone actually liked Aliens3)

Summary: Seriously, just enjoy it...
Review: Here's a word of advice, seriously kids, don't think about it too much. Forget about the hows and whys, scratch common sense, and ditch the confused urge to say, "But...?" In fact, get rid of gravity and physics altogether while you're at it. With that said, 90% of the movie watching populace will, grudgingly or not, enjoy T3. This is an action flick and, let's be honest, this movie wasn't made to make a whole lot of sense or be an important contribution to filmaking. James Cameron has left the helm of this series and with him taken the vision and the passion for the story that was reflected in the two far superior predecessors to T3. This 3rd installment, hopefully of a trilogy, is enjoyable fun. The action is literally non-stop so there's no point complaining about dialogue being simplistic because there isn't much of it anyway. T3 is a lot better than it could have been so let's all put this movie into the proper context in which it belongs and enjoy the saucy ride.
