Summary: Double-Whammy
Review: First of all, great picture and sound quality. Fewer features than Alien, but still a DVD to buy.

Secondly - one of the few sequels that surpasses the original. When I first heard about Aliens I was both curious and horrified. I was not impressed the first time I saw it but I found myself drawn to it, and watched it a few more times before finally admitting that it grew on me. It is probably the finest film of its type. In terms of style and characters, the first film is marginally better, but overall Aliens is just perfect. Thankfully the DVD is the Special Edition with 17 minutes of extra footage. I have seen the SE before but initial rumours said that the DVD would be the theatrical release. Not that I have anything against the earlier version, but once seen the SE is a must have.

Summary: Cameron and Weaver at their very, very best
Review: Tremendous sequel that has it all: entirely believable characters, gripping action, multiple levels of meaning and solid story. Cameron leaves no room for doubt that he is simply the premier action director of our age. The blending of humour and tragedy is perfect, and the squad of Colonial Marines are the best depiction of a military unit yet seen on screen. This film was made before digital effects got a stranglehold on Hollywood, and the models of the Sulaco, the Dropship and the APC are beautifully integrated into the sounstage and location setups. The cinematography, production design and wardrobe all help this film to achieve its deserved cult status. Certainly the best of its kind ever made

Summary: The best of the series!
Review: "Alien" was a great movie, but when I saw "Aliens", the first film paled in comparison. Definitely one of the best movies I have ever seen. It's packed with non-stop action, plenty of aliens, and a lot of violence. The Special Edition is even better, especially the scenes with the remote sentry units and when Newt's parents discover the alien ship that was in the first one. Anyone who hates this movie needs to get their head examined. This is my favorite of all the "Alien" movies. Unfortunately, the next two sequels ruined the series. Stick with the first two, instead.

Summary: One of the BEST SCI-FI/ACTION of all time
Review: This is probably the BEST action/sci-fi film ever made. It has it all: Great creature design ( a la Giger ), great weapons ( the pulse rifle, smart guns, the drop ship ), kick-a$$ action, and, importantly, it was humorous but never tongue-in-cheek ( the Marine banter always make me laugh, especially Hicks ). This also is one of the most influentual sci-fi films out there, ( excluding, of-course, STAR WARS ). Don't believe me? Look at the SPACE MARINE board and video games, and read past HEAVY METAL issues and look for "Alien-esque" storylines ( where a bunch of people are out destroying aliens & bugs with cool weaponry ). It also "spawned" a pretty successful comic line by DARK HORSE, which did ALIENS more justice the the next two movie sequal ( look for it if you can, these were AMAZING graphic novels ).

Summary: One of the best sequels ever.
Review: James Cameron proves that the sequel can be better than the original, and does so in spectacular style. The history of the xenomorphs is fleshed out properly and the weapons and action sequences are absolutely stunning. A landmark in science-fiction.

Summary: alien action
Review: A vast improvement over the original. Great special effects and good acting make this one of the best sequels ever made! After watching the director's cut, I forgave Mr. Cameron for making ''Titanic''.

Summary: Very Exciting even as a repeat view
Review: This DVD Version is awesome. It features beautiful digital picture and widescreen viewing. The sound for the movie is also superb. The extra features that are put into the menus and the extra footage that has never been seen is also a definite plus. The menu additions are the best though

Summary: The real reasons this film strikes home...
Review: 1) Its theme is recovery, not revenge. Ms. Weaver's character has lost quite literally EVERYTHING! Job, title, home, family, reputation, self-regard, confidence, inner peace...all gone. As she later exhibits indominability for the sake of others, Ripley's lost emotions reappear before our eyes; her fiber made whole when her daughter returns symbolically via Newt; her phobia is erased when its personification, the android Bishop, shows an unquenchable sense of sacrifice. 2) outside of monster costumes, a crawling facehugger, one bursting gut, and Bishop's vivisection, the film details MINIMAL special effects putting the bulk of the attraction (holy Roger Corman!) on PERFORMANCE and PACING. Each character has his/her own quirkiness made pleasantly obvious, in some cases the instant you see them. The combining of different people types each with a specific professional contribution focused on a specific goal is a gloriously successful audience pleasing formula (among many others see Flight of the Phoenix, Cool Hand Luke, the Dirty Dozen, The Longest Yard, even Troma's War!) 3) The creatures are not the center of the film...they are a force of nature that the combined talents assembled, and particularly the emotionally scarred phobic Riply, must overcome to bring the film to a satisfactory climax. The real villians are Paul Reiser's role and the slightly more sentient queen creature...plainly because they both are motivated by EVIL rather than animal instinct. Riply and the other protagonist characters therefore represent combined GOOD banded with courage and, more, inventiveness (the previously introduced loader as weapon was a stroke of genius) against a machination commanded by a force that is pure EVIL. Good vs. evil...its the most satisfying (read profitable) movie plot ever!!

Summary: The ORIGINAL Space Horror Movie Returns
Review: First came Alien, which set the standard for horror in space and after that its sequel, Aliens which is so many way surpassed the original. The movie also now has additional footage, almost 17 minutes of it in the Special Edition. In addition to an incredible movie, this DVD features a comprehensive "Behind the Scenes" feature which is what fans [like me :)] long for and now have access to. Even the DVD menu is incredible and true to the movie. I highly recommend this to anyone who can get their hands on it.
