Summary: who needs 3+ versions of the same movie?
Review: I own t2 on dvd and vhs (the original releases). Now after a month I bought it on dvd, I hear a new version is coming out with 3 versions, commentaries, etc. my feeling is, if you already own it on dvd, why spend your hard-earned money on another version? it is the same picture-sound quality! I have seen this done on several other movies. I understand having dts and DD versions, but to treat movies like software is stupid. It was stupid of me to buy even two versions, but 3? c'mon. if you don't already own it on dvd, go ahead and buy this version. if you do, please don't buy this. you will show the studios you'll buy anything in a shiny package. I think this is a terrific movie, but i bought a dvd player for the picture/sound, not watching different trailers once or twice in every new version that comes out. If you don't own this already, it's a good buy. if you do, you are wasting your money, how often are you going to watch a featurette anyway? stick to your basic version.

Review: This awesome 2 disc set has everything a DVD fan could want! The extras cover just about aspect of the film! The best part though is that the transfer of the film is just beautiful-nothing short of spectactacular! The behind the scenes stuff is pretty cool too! In particular the "special" about T2-3D.My only minor complaint is that some of the commentary info sounds like they copied it right from the behind the scenes stuff. Don't let that stop you though, this is a MUST have for any fan of the film!

Summary: A Human Story
Review: I haven't had the pleasure of viewing this DVD edition yet since I have yet to own a DVD player. However, I've seen this movie many times and I had the fortune of visiting Universal Studios Florida and experiencing the T2 3-D attraction (my favorite of ALL attractions- worth $50 admission) When I first saw this movie I was 14. I thought it was cool. I'm 24 now and I see it in a much different light. Despite all the groundbreaking special effects that helped pioneer the last decade of moviemaking, this movie is first and foremost, a human story. The last line of the movie speaks to me about the whole theme of the movie: "If a machine, a terminator can learn the value of human life, maybe we can too." This terminator throughout this movie, through John, has learned what it means to be human: to feel hurt, anger, fear, and sadness. Because of this learning process, he becomes half-human at the end of the movie. After this realization, his actions are even more heroic. He is heroic because he has sacrificed himself for a higher purpose than even his own existence, he does it for humankind. There is so much humanity and spirituality in this movie. It is about destiny vs. free will, it is about the dehumanization of humans. As we become more technologically advanced, we become more inhuman. John says to the terminator, "We're not going to make it, are we?" To this, the terminator replies, "It is in your nature to destroy yourself." There is such a strong moral fabric in this movie shown to us by John's ardent, yet inarticulate belief, "You can't kill people! " In the end, it takes something as inhuman as the terminator to teach us what is really human about ourselves: loyalty, to care, to love and respect eachother. No matter how great the special effects, I would not come back for a second viewing and I would not love this movie as much as I do without this intensely character driven story. This is better than anything that I've seen Jerry Bruckheimer come up with. This is first and foremost a great story that had amazing special effects. With all of the emotional, spiritual and human angles that this movie incorporates, I've yet to see another action movie live up to T2 in scope and in vision.

Summary: Overwhelmingly thorough
Review: This is the must have disc for anyone wondering what the hype is over DVD. Artisan has done a bang up job on this ultimate edition, which contains both the original theatrical version and the special edition which has multiple deleted scenes. The menu screen alone is exhaustive and imaginative, replicating the interior of the Cyberdine. Every aspect of the film is covered extensively from preproduction through marketing of the film with interviews with the cast and crew. There's also a "making of" the T2-3D attraction that's housed at both Universal Studios in Hollywood and Florida.-No video here, simply pictures and text. The DVD also comes with a booklet (much needed to break everything down) that has chapter listings for both the original and special edition, and a collectors metal slip case that wraps around the case. The movie, after almost ten years, holds up really well, with the special effects still something to marvel at. Even the THX opening has been "Terminatorfied". If you're on the fence about it, trust me, it's worth every penny. It's too bad all DVD's weren't approached with such care. Although if they were,there'd be no reason to leave the house.

Summary: The Greatest DVD ever made?
Review: This DVD contains almost the same content as the Pioneer laserdisc box set released a few years ago. The laserdisc was considered by many to be the best LD ever made mainly because of the huge amount of supplementary material. This DVD version finally brings this excellent content to the public in a much more affordable price (the laserdisc cost over $100).The mammoth supplementary section contains thousands of still-frames, (some text-only, some text-with-pictures, some linked with video/audio segments), that chronologically details the making of the film such as pre-production, casting, visual effects, marketing, promotion, etc. Described as "6 hours of supplements" on the disc case, in truth it will take you much longer to absorb all the content. The Guns & Roses promo music video that was included in the laserdisc's supplements is not included on this DVD. The DVD merely contains still shots of the video. (This amusing video shows Arnold carrying a gun that is hidden in a box of roses while attending a concert by, well, Guns & Roses.) The DVD does include the wonderfully edited promo documentary "The Making of T2". This little gem WAS NOT on the laserdisc. (Hurray!) There is a dazzling DVD-ROM feature that lets you view the movie, the script, and storyboard diagrams all on the same screen. (The script can also be found in the supplementary section, but it is very hard to navigate through it due to inadequate chapter stops). There are some "easter eggs" (hidden features) on this DVD as well, one of them is an "extended special edition" of the movie that includes 2 scenes omitted in the special edition -- a scene where the T1000 searches the boy's bedroom, and an alternate ending set 30 years into the future, featuring an aged Sarah Conner. The laserdisc also had these deleted scenes, but this DVD lets you view the deleted scenes as part of the movie. Another easter egg is a collection of Japanese trailers (look for a tiny Japanese flag on one of the menu screens). The only troubling thing about this DVD is that the packaging includes a note saying, "Due to the advance features, some DVD players may have navigational problems. But it should not affect your enjoyment in using this disc." It's troubling because this sounds like it's something that SHOULD affect my enjoyment. It hasn't cause problems to my DVD player yet, but others have reported problems like lockups and wacky navigation.

Review: All I can say is WOW. This is one of my all time favoriate films anyways. Add to this the the choice of which version to watch and all the wonderful extras... O, and the menus are way kewl also.

Review: The first DVD that I bought and it was the best decision that I have ever made. Cool case but can get a bit smudgy from finger prints. Lots of stuff keeps me sitting in couch for hours. Conclusion: get it even if you don't collect DVD.

Review: We bought this DVD, the ultimate edition, and watched it in DTS with an optical link. The sound rocks! It was so crisp and realistic that at one time, we thought it was the neighbor talking next door when in fact, it was coming through the back speaker! That's how realistic the digitally remastered DVD with DTS has made this movie even more enjoyable than it can be. The movie also comes with a lot of extra footage which is a nice extra added bonus. Just to tell you how good this DVD is, we originally rented the DVD from NetFlix but after watching it, we decided that we MUST have it cuz of all the cool extra that we went out and bought it!

Review: But is it too good? The first half of the disc is great, 3 versions of the movie, bios and all that stuff. On the second disc is three documentaries, alot of trailers, and EVERYTHING about T2. Even things you don't want to know. Most people I tell this to don't believe me, but it does have everything. It's actually pretty scary. Oh well, don't let me tell you not to buy it, it's really great, but beware the extras!!!
