Rating: Summary: This anime is great!!! I wish everyone would love it!!!!! Review: In the future, mankind lost 4 planets due to a terrible mistake. They reteated to space and built colonies, huge domes with glass protecting it. There is only one planet left, Zion. The alien form known as VICTIM is out to destoy it. So.....Mankind built huge mechas called Ingrids or Goddesses. The candidates must first train to become one of the 5 Goddess pilots. They go to the Goddess Opperating Accademy or GOA. And when they become pilots they go to GIS. And..... To be a candidate you have to have the abiltity of EX. Having a reaction to such a power turns your hair teal. It may be telepathy or the power to move fast without being seen. OK..... The story follows 5 candidates. The main character is Zero Enna. He is a hyper boy and can't stop talking about his dream to pilot the White Ingrid that saved him when he was younger. He has a rival named Hiead and friends Yamagi, Roose, Clay, and another senior named Erts whose brother is a pilot. Zero and his classmates train and live on GOA. And the story also go into the lives of the pilots. Now... I love the anime and I'm getting the DVDs. It came on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network but was cancelled for some strange reason. Get it because it's in space and space is COOL!!!!
Rating: Summary: For the Love of GOD! Don't Buy This!!! Review: Ok, we all know that that animation looks good. You can see that from the cover of the box. Theres also the good CG work on the mechs and goddesses. But thats it. The characters are so underdevelped that you have no idea why they act, talk and think the way they do. The main character, zero, (real original name for a hero) gets to an academy for training kids to fight in a battle to save the last planet. Is it just me or is that sooo like Neon Genesis Evangelion? But wait, it doesn't stop there. Zero meets up with one of the head battling mecha's, something called a goddess. And lo and behold it sucks him in and starts to mind meld with him or something. Just like Shinji and his synch ratio. It is one hell of a knockoff. The actors behind the dubbing did a horredious job. The emotion displayed by the characters is so off. One minute there all seriouse, when they shouldn't be, the next, well, they don't really go anywhere. Every now and then one says something funny that would normaly elicite a funny face or a laugh. But nobody reacts the way people would. In short, it lacks, major. If you enjoy a good anime, go watch something else. This one is just not to be owned. Watch it on Adult Swim if your curiouse, but trust me. Youll thank me for not buying it.
Rating: Summary: Pilot Candidate Review: Pilot Candidate is set in a future where humaity is living in space and only one Planet is left. Attacked by enigmatic aliems called Victim. society is protected by 5 enormous Robots called Goddeses or Ingrids. There is one catch only People born with a special blood type and certain age can fly them for a certain period of time. (Fans of Evangelion will notice Blatant Simalarities) Volume One intoduces us to 3 main characters. Zero being the main hero with mysterious power and past. Clay Fortran set in the usual Smart sidekick role and Hiead as the equal mysterious rival. along with the current pilots and their instructor. Zero having the lack of focus and drive\ego the usual hero types have (think Tai from Digimon season 1--They even look alike and may have same english voice) finds himself in many incidents including: 1 displaying the mysterious power 2 seeing his past(he was saved by a goddess) 3 being accepted by a goddess and seeing a mysterious gril while inside) and 4 sets up the rivalry between Hiead and Zero. all in all a good video that will take time to build up as the follow the pattern.
Rating: Summary: What? That's it?! Review: Pilot Candidate managed to tell a weaving tale, which ended very suddenly, it seems. Just as a couple of the candidates you've been following through three DVD's seem on the verge of becoming top candidate, if not, a pilot, the series seems to have ended. Now, some people have accused this series of being an "Eva clone". This series actually turned out much more interesting. The characters, for the most part, don't have major neurosis, and the plot doesn't get mired in theologies and mythologies. It flows very evenly, and gets you to ask questions about what you've seen. My only real complaints are that the english voices are very detached, and the subtitles aren't a translation, so much as a transcript of the english dialogue, a lot of which isn't what was said in the Japanese text. Overall, the title is extremely solid and consistent. I just wish there was more!
Rating: Summary: The second best (DBZ) Anime ever created Review: Pilot Candidate runs every Saturday night at 12 am, 11 pm central. Pilot Candidate offered me a kind of show like Final Fantasy VIII meets Gundam Wing and Outlaw Star. Pilot Candidate is like the 2nd best Anime to reach Earth. The reason being is for the amazing chareter development and the cool 3D computer simulatoed space and robot sequences. It's easy to understand, and it's worth a 60 somethin cha-chings to get all 3 DVDs that are so far released. Of course you could watch it on Adult Swim every week, but BUY IT ANYWAY! PIlot Candidate is soooooo cooool, see this anime, it's addictive! VERY ADDICTIVE! It's not one of those stupid Animes that are released every few weeks. The dubbing [is bad], but everything else is top-notch........
Rating: Summary: Pilot candidate Part2 Review: Pilot candidate V2 continues what was started in V1 this time we see the testing procedures and are introduced to both the final 2 members of the main 5 and their partners(Repairers). Zero already established as the hero or leader is discovered to be a perfect Human ( No Flaws) His Classmates and Partner have other thoughts. The dvd cuts back and forth between the pilots and candidates as they are both tested. We meet Kizuna who will Obviously be Zero's Partner.(Kizuna for some reason has Cat ears- this currently isn't explained why) they are as alike in their goals as they are conflicting personalities. (Your Typical LOve Hate Relationship). WE aslo learn more about the mysterious power called EX (Which is basically a Heightened version of being in the Zone) and find out that Zero though being a Pilot Candidate has a Phobia of Zero Gravity (V1 Shows Why) by the end of the dvd Kizuna and zero reach the usual Temporary truce. A little better than V1 by having more action.
Rating: Summary: WE WANT THE REST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: Some one needs to make a web site that will raise money for this show because it totally rocks. It is a must have animation!!! The only bad thing is taht it isn't finished, but thats i'm typing this. I want someone to make a site that rasies money for this show. I think i can speak for every one when i say we would like to see the rest of the series.
When i first saw this i thought it was the best animation ever i still do.I'm not 18 so i can't make a web site that will raise money for this show. If any of you have seen farscape you will know what I'm talking about.Farscape was taken off the air but since everybody liked it they raised money for ot to be put back on the air. Well this is nearly the same. We just want the animation to be finished.
Now who's with me, who wants to see the rest of this animation? If you do then act now and make a web site to raise money.
Oh and if you don't make the site be sure to stop by one and give a little money to our cause.PLZ I'M BEGGING YOU HELP US!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Medicore Continuations Review: The story line continues to move slowly with sudden seemingly random jumps. Character development is either non-existant, or is accompished in three actions and moves people forward as if years have occured. I am still not a fan of the mixed style of Anime that is used for this story line. Using computer generated images for the 'Goddesses' while in combat brings memories of older video game movies that were not the best. Overall, the story and content are average, and the feeble attempts at hiding what is in store for the 'heroes' is not done as well as it could have been. This series straddles between trying to be the seriousness of Gasarki, and the silliness of older 'fighting robot' shows.
Rating: Summary: Boy meets girl in elementary school Review: This episode is basically boy-meets-girl and some filling out of the characters. It isn't a heavy action flick; it is a training episode with a quick montage of physical training and then one round each in the training pod. Boy-meets-girl is just that; after some time the pilots are partnered with their repairers, and they meet, and then that's all she wrote - except Zero's gal starts breaking him of the zero G phobia. The pairing is like one of the most predictable pairings there is; maybe later episodes will prove this first impression wrong, but each pair is just the male and female version of the same general character. (One may seem obverse, except if you dig down you can predict a closer personality than some others, even if one is tormented. Unless they do break the male/female pair set up.) Most of the episode is about the characters, but in the most basic way: feeding habits and basic personality, like the dude in glasses ogling the ladies with interest when the other guys are going "Yuk, girls!" I haven't watched any other volumes and I picked up Zero's "small guy" attitude right away, especially when he keeps trying to be "first" ahead of his own self appointed nemisis. (Zero "picks" the fight all the time, trying to be first in the toilet, even, and his competition basically ignores him like the loud mouthed, over eager pest he is.) Whether or not a viewer likes it depends on their mood and wants: I prefer the more action and sultry gal-pal oriented series like Van Dread. But anyone disliking action and simply wanting a show written in the most basic ways about people may prefer this. Zero's personality can annoy some; I myself think he's a relief from the sniveling wimps in some shows and while he has more guts than brains at times, he makes up for it when he puts on the brakes and settles down, proving his brains are quiet good, thank you. This is basically a kid-oriented show, with some mild risque, and the plot itself is far more kid oriented than normal. Even the overall plot, the save-the-world-from-aliens plot, is basically the stock plot of easy to understand evening shows. If anything, watching it reminded me of watching a movie about elementary school, which is basically what it boils down to, even with the same general age group and mental and social maturity of the participants. If you have kids and want a reasonably safe but not pre-school show, consider it. For me "***" (three stars) is an honest rating meaning this is an entertaining movie. I'm not one of those people who sling out 4 and 5 star ratings on shows unless I think it's just so fabulous it deserves it. And I try to avoid anything I would rate lower on the premisis that [nobody] watches a show they don't like. (Kind of like ordering and eating food you don't like or marrying someone you hate...) So my three-star ratings are often the same thing as most people's rubber-stamped 4 star ratings. In the end, my impression is that if they put six episodes in a case for [money], this would be a decent watch for most anyone except people way off base to the norm. Otherwise, it's appeal is even more narrow than some wilder shows, mainly because it costs quiet a bit for a sweet little pre-teen flick.
Rating: Summary: This anime is great!!! I wish everyone would love it!!!!! Review: This series is the BEST!!! I have seen all the episodes shown on adult swim. I taped all of them and watched them over and over, but unfortunatly the tapes were corrupted and now I'm buying the whole series on DVD. The series isn't a copy off of anything, but the only disappointing part is that the series is cut off when it could have and should have gone a lot further.
