Summary: Better than it has any right to be
Review: I saw this in the theater with the intention of watching some cheesy mind candy. Mind candy I got, but with surprisingly high production values and decent acting. I purchased it when it first came out on DVD, and found that it still surprises me with its quality and humor.

Summary: Finally, a good movie based on a video game
Review: Let's face it-just about every movie ever based on a video game has been among the worst of all time. This movie is the sole exception to that trend. Despite what you might have heard from Leonard Maltin, this isn't just a collection of fights. "Mortal Kombat" has well defined plot, good charactorisation and is 1856 better than ANYTHING from "Super Mario Bros.".

The fight scenes are also very well done and solid. Run through them in slow-motion and you'll see what I mean.

Overall this is a great movie. It's too bad they had to use the sequel to screw things up. Still, don't let that stop you from enjoying this.

Summary: A great movie followed by a lame sequel...
Review: Mortal Kombat is a movie translated of the hit video game. It's got a faithful story, great directing, superb special effects, and a great cast which deliver a great acting.Shou plays Liu Kang the hero of the game ehich came back for the sequel.Linden Ashby plays Johnny Cage,he delivers a convincing acting and a great line."Let's dance"Christopher Lambert plays Rayden brilliantly, potraying him as a wise cracking thunder god.Goro actually looks like a monster, unlike Motaro and Sheeva of MK2.I really liked this movie since I saw it and keep watching it,buy it,or at least rent it if you want to have a good time..

Summary: I don't think so...
Review: This is, of course, based on the video game of the same name. It's about as much fun to watch as watching someone playing the game would be. You can regard yourself as having seen the whole movie once you're five minutes into it: appalling acting from all (although Lambert obviously has fun); dire lines; dreadful soundtrack; tediously fight scenes endlessly repeated substituting for a plot. There are some pretty cool special effects if you can stay awake long enough to notice them. No, if this puerile tosh ever gets mistaken for entertainment, you can take it as a sign than mankind has indeed been taken over by the demon dimension!

Summary: Bloody hell!
Review: This is just so cool, this movie has the ecsact music and story as in the video game.I think that's preety cool!

Summary: Mortal Kombat scores a flawless victory
Review: Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, and Sonya must put an end to the likesof Goro and Shang Tsung before it's too late. On their way they will encounter familiar adversaries such as Scorpion and Sub-Zero. With the help of Rayden, they just might have a chance to win the tournament and take on Goro and Shang Tsung.

"Mortal Kombat" is based on the video game and if you see the movie, you'll see the similarities. The only difference is that there's not any teams in the video game. Just about everything in the movie is awesome. It has good special effects, a good plot, and best of all, awesome fighting scenes. Some parts and effects stand out from the others such as Scorpion throwing the whip and saying "Get Over Here." The music is also top notch which is perfect for the movie.

If you're a fan of the Mortal Kombat video games or if you like fighting movies, I would recommend getting "Mortal Kombat." It's one of the best fighting movies out there.

Summary: Great!
Review: Mortal Kombat was the best possibe adaptation of a video game. Combining action with comedy, it had a great story line and the best villian ever.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Better than the others
Review: Of all the video games turned movies this is among the better ones. While it isn't exactly the greatest in the plot department it is still entertaining. Fans of the game as well as those who never heard of the game will find the movie enjoyable.

Summary: Flawless Victory!
Review: If a four-armed creature by the name of Goro wins one more tournament called "Mortal Kombat" (making it his 10th straight victory), there will be chaos on earth. Three earth warriors are chosen by the God of Thunder, Rayden, to enter the tournament and prevent Goro from winning.

The director was supposedly very loyal to the video game. There may be some truth to this, because the costumes and special effects matches those in the game (they are so cool!). The only thing missing is the blood and decapitations, making it not as violent as the video game.

The music chosen for the movie are excellent. Every time a fight would take place, some sort of music would come on... As for the movie itself, I like the fact that the appearance of the kombatants are the same as in the game, and that their signature moves are used in the movie (Johnny Cage's low blow, for example). There is only one thing I din't like... Why did the film makers make Scorpion and Sub-Zero be on the same side? These ninjas should be on opposite sides, with Scorpion evil, and Sub-Zero good. These two have some hated blood between them... They are "the deadliest of enemies", and it would've been great to see them battle it out.

The movie is quite good. The plot is not great, and it is far from realistic, but it is still good. It is the best movie ever to be adapted from a video game.
