Summary: Subplots are the key to monster movies these days...
Review: The first twenty minutes of this film may indicate that you are watching grade - b cheese, and that assumption is correct. However, the action and terrific special effects make "Deep Rising" an excellent thrill ride with enough gore to satisfy horror fans. Treat Williams does an adequate job as the top biller, and Famke Janssen is surprisingly effective as the leading lady. (Her acting is at a par with her beauty.) Honorable mention goes to the comic relief of "Joey Pantuccho", (unfortunately, the actor's name escapes me now.) He is very funny. The thing that makes "Deep Rising" a success is the subplot involving the terrorist group. This gives them a reason for being on the boat and armed to the teeth and is capable of supporting the story until the monster shows up. This movie has made its way to my collection and I strongly recommend it.

Summary: A much-needed new attempt at the deep-sea terror genre!
Review: When I first went to see DEEP RISING, I have to admit that I had my doubts. I was proven wrong when it turned out to be one of my all-time favorite films!! The film is packed with great special effects and major action especially when the gigantic tentacled creature attacks and gorily munches on the cast! Absolutely astonishing, the film packs a wallop along with some clever humor. DEEP RISING is the first deep sea terror film in awhile, so it's a hip, much-needed shot at fun--and it succeeds at its goal. The carnivorous beast from the depths moves with such smoothness that you would swear it's real. Intensely terrifying, DEEP RISING is a film that no sci-fi or horror fan or collector should be without!!!

Summary: Mindless but thrilling!
Review: If you liked Aliens or Predator, then you'll like Deep Rising. It's a very cliched and predictable monster thriller, but as long as it makes me jump out of my seat it's fine. And this movie made me scared plenty of times. The plot and acting is totally B-movie quality (the passengers and crew of a luxury ship are killed by a huge sea monster, and a group of thugs stumble upon the scene too late), but the special effects and gore scenes are very elaborate. Also, the characters are pretty charming at times. The movie wastes no time getting right into action, and the action it has is incredible. Rent it for a good but forgettable scare.

Summary: DON'T MISTAKE THE NAME!!!
Review: When I told my family what I wanted for Christmas (Deep Rising) I recieved a copy of Mercury Rising and Deep Impact. The film was intended of being a B film but don't give it so much "Bad Vibes" it's not that bad of flick. Just think of it as Titanic with Leo getting eaten by a Giganic octapus thingy. The best scene is when you see all the dead bodies in the ball room.

Summary: Good graphics and not much else
Review: This was a pathetic attempt of a horror flick. The plot was awful and the monster okay. Save your $$$$ for something else.

Summary: Titanic Is Invaded evil worm-like aliens
Review: You must see Deep Rising. If you are a Sci-FI fan this is the hot tamale(though if you did not like Alien the movie I do not recommend this movie). The blood and gore is throughout the whole movie, so if your stomach is uneasy Deep Rising is not for you. A great action thriller about a boat driver who drives a bunch of theives to a Titanic like boat. But when the convicts arrive the find thal all the passengers had allready been robbed....of their lives. The rest is for you to find out. A must see Sci- Fi thriller.

Summary: There Should Be One More Star Reserved For This Movie (#6)
Review: Deep Rising was a creepy-crawly, slithering, edge of your seat, hellatious ride all packed into one movie that holds your eyes to the screen until all is said and done!

Summary: Great Indiana Jonse type action and story.
Review: Action is fast paced and special effects are excellent. Has the feel of an Indiana Jones adventure with likeble hero and sidekick. Well worth the price of the DVD

Summary: A MONSTER FROM THE DEEP ATTACKS THE "NEW TITANIC!"
Review: BLOODY, GORY, AND EXTREMELY INTENSE, DEEP RISING REALLY DELIVERS THE ACTION! THE SEA MONSTER IN THE FILM CONSUMES EVERYONE ON BOARD THE "TITANIC-LIKE SHIP" WITH ITS NUMBEROUS TENTICLE FEEDERS AND LEAVES NO ONE ALIVE ONBOARD. BUT AT THE END THE CREATURE GETS WHATS COMING TO HIM. IT'S A MUST SEE IF YOU LIKE GORY SCI-FI ACTION MOVIES!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Terrific fun- if you can recognize all the clichés!
Review: Deep Rising is one of the only ways a horror/thriller can really work- by being silly. All the characters are stereo-typed and self-kidding, and so is the movie. There is lots of dry humor in the face of certain death, and this makes the movie seem to surreal to be taken seriously. Which is a very good thing, because this is an extremely gory movie- but even that's not a bad thing because it's so clichéd! There are huge rooms filled with bloody skeletons, and a guy who is vomited up with half his face missing. But it doesn't really get to you (unless you're really squeamish) because it, like the movie, is so OVER-THE-TOP.
