Summary: It's a movie you'll love to watch all the time
Review: This movie has some of the best action with soundtrack scenes you could imagine. After you watch it you'll run out to buy its soundtrack. The 1st part of it is flat out awesome. Later in the end there comes some coincidences that ruin it but i still loved it. I am not one to like science fiction, I like drama more, and I feel this movie had some unforgettable scenes. The part where Kevin Costner is arguing with Jeanne Tripplehorn about the myth of dry land is fantastic. Dennis Hopper was hilarious when he brings his smokers to invade one of the atolls. The reason it got burned so much by critics is because it did not live up to its 200 million dollar budget, but its still a great movie that I watch continuously all the time.

Summary: Visually Stimulating...and not much else
Review: This movie dazzles you with visual effects, but the adventure, action, and plot moved too slowly. I like the Waterworld attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood, though. That's how the movie should have been made.

Summary: Better than they said it was...
Review: I can't belive this film got such a bad rap. It was The Road Warrior on water. I'd say it's the best post-appocolypse film since the Mad Max movies.

Summary: A great movie that was surprisingly made in the 90's
Review: All though improbable, the storly line of the polar ice caps melting is finally depicted on screen. This is wonderful, for it makes this movie not another copy of all the other post-apocaplyptic epics. Pretty good action sequences and good acting, as well as the cool end of the world technology give this movie four out of five stars. Ignore critics always. Trust non-moronic public.

Summary: DTS IS REALLY WORTH THE WAIT!!!
Review: I am a Home Theater buff who has waited and waited for something to be released on DTS DVD, finally Waterworld arrives and let me tell you, it was worth the wait! This movie presented in all its DTS glory sounds incredible not to say the video is superb also. Watch the first ten minutes of this DVD in Dolby Digital, then start it over and watch it in DTS and you will be blown away, I absolutely loved it. My fronts, center, surrounds, and subwoofer came to life with such clarity, which is one word that explains DTS, that once you hear what DTS is capable of you will be looking to buy your next DVD with DTS sound. This is a great movie to give you a taste of what DTS is all about. I highly recommend this to all of you with DTS capable systems. Don't have one? Get one! You won't regret it.

Summary: Great action movie fall apart towards the end
Review: I was facinated by the details the director chose to show. From the all mighty super transformer boat piloted by the stranger to the everyday life within the trading post. It is a movie that takes me to a different world and did a good job satisfying my curiosity. Dennis Hopper was surprising good and they script gave him some good lines. The story is adequet and the action sequences are brilliant, at least until the second half of the film. After that contradictions and corny lines starting to damage the film beyond salvage. I turned the TV off after Dennis was killed. The part about the dry land was entirely unnessary. I was one of the people who yelled "Gimme a break" when Kevin and company came across the skeleton in the hut. The childish ending took away the eariler charm so carefully built up.

Summary: Highly Adventurous Attack on the Symbols of Pollution
Review: If you gave stars for audacity, this would rate six! Made at a time when the tobacco industry was first being accused of illegally bribing Hollwood to make its products look seductive--this film was Kevin Cosner's outrageous refusal to play their game. Small wonder it and he were massively attacked...even "green" sympathizers were successfully alienated by publicity that the film crew scared some whales. Additionally, reviewers criticised it as an "unrealistic" view of the future...like complaining that GULLIVER'S TRAVELS has no train schedules. Neither were about geography or science fiction. The opening credits made it clear to any knowledgeable viewer--total melting of polar ice would raise sea level some 200 feet, not submerge the planet. Nor was the appearance of the EXXON VALDEZ with a cargo of MALBOROS predicting the 22nd century. Instead, and for the first time on screen, the villains were called "Smokers!" and loved it. A good, swashbuckling action movie about metaphors. [Like Robin Hood or Zorro.] It took real courage to make. Why not have fun seeing what big businesses probably spent millions to keep you away from?
