Summary: Great movie, but won't appeal to everyone.
Review: The Hulk is a great film, but it definitely won't appeal to everyone. The message that Ang Lee tried to deliver, repressed rage being a quality in all of us and the dangers of it being released, was missed by those seeking a 2 hour smash-athon. Ang Lee's painstaking attempt at evoking pity for the Hulk, evidenced by aptly placed close-ups of the Hulk's face displaying various emotions OTHER than anger, is clearly lost by most of the audience. The film is dark and takes some time to develop. But, your patience is well rewarded by a "comic-book" movie that has real emotional depth and artistic flair.

Summary: Outstanding Special Effects Can't Redeem Movie
Review: I anticipated this movie greatly. Being a comic book hero fan, I was looking forward to a spetacular movie with a notable director, fine cast, and padded budget; yet, we get all these, but an otherwise flat movie based on a flat scripted.

The film has its moments like the "Hulk vs the dogs", but besides a few moments here and there, one's mind starts to wonder because of the sheer silliness and overly done multiangle filming.

The end, as the Hulk/Banner battels his father (uninspiring performance by Nolte) is just anti-climatic and boring. Sam Elliot provides the screens best performance as Jennifer Connely's father.

Summary: Ang Lee,what went wrong?!
Review: This movie is [weak]. I dont care what anyone says,it was really [weak].Ang Lee spent so much time on making the Hulk look real that he forgot the rest of the movie.True, the Hulk looked amazing, but theres no excuse for this wanna be action flick. And what was up with the comic book like panels on the screen? They were just plain annoying.Phsycological issues? Yeah right.I was having severe phsychological issues once I left the theatre.[Weak] action,(the most exciting part was when the Hulk got attacked by ... poodles)boring scenery(all desert or military complex)and did I mention [weak] action? Lets just hope there isnt a sequel.

Summary: Movies cant get any worse than this
Review: this movie is so mindless there is no plot, acting, or anything. Here is a cuople reasons why this movie is so stupid. 1.they portray the army as really tuff guys not afraid of any thing not eben the Hulk especialy Betty's dad. 2.When the hulk hits the helcopters and there doing a bunch of three-sixtys the guys in side are crying out mayday mayday. 3. the army just starts attacking the Hulk in the city and they dont even warn anybody. 4. It doesnt matter if your the Hulk or not if you fall 15,000 into water your going to die especaily if you land on your back like he did. There are a lot more flaws about this movie but I dont have time to say them.

Summary: Stick with the T.V. show, its better!!!
Review: Having seen this film, I had hoped it would be good, but it wasn't nowhere near as good as it could have been, unlike the T.V. show that had Bill Bixby as Banner, you actually cared about him, with Eric Bana, it is difficult to care, In this one we see two actors playing a younger Nick Nolte(Banner's dad) & a younger Sam Elliott(Col.Ross) as they quarrell over Banner's new discovery about gamma radiation & its potential for the military in the 1960's, Banner is later taken away, but the scenes are blink-you-miss-them that is later explained more clearly, the film then takes us to the present day where David is continuing his father's work & has repressed memories of his dad's fate when he was a toddler, Jennifer Connelly is his assistant who works with him, & has feelings somewhat for him, & is also Ross' daughter, when a freak accident occurs, Banner is subjected to gamma radiation that should have been fatal, while in the hospital, Nolte shows up & tells him why he is not dead, & why he is important to him, when enraged he becomes the Hulk & Nolte is astonished at what he may have created, as the Hulk's first rampage comes to a close, he soon catches then attention of a pharmacetical business man who wants to make millions off of research & is the son of someone important,it also gets the attention of Elliott's Ross, as he investigates this possibility, & tries desperately to sequester Banner in a secret military base, that ultimately fails & sends the Hulk on a rampage once again where he tackles all kinds of military vehicles, he even jumps onto a fighter jet that tries to take him high above the clouds, this is about the only interesting aspect of the whole film that occurs about 1hr& half into the film, Bana & Connelly share good chemistry, but are not really given anything interesting to do, & Nick Nolte seems so out of place here, it isn't even funny, only Sam Elliott makes this one worth watching, without him, I would have walked out, he totally brings Col. Ross to life, but even he can't save it, although true to Stan Lee's comic, it could have been much better, at least Sam Raimi did "Spiderman" justice, he was after all a fan of "Spiderman" not sure Ang Lee ever was a Hulk fan, it doesn't show here!!!

Summary: True to the comics ideals
Review: Though the origin story was changed dramatically, the movie stays true to the original essence of the comic book. I actually enjoyed the movie, even though the pacing was not what one would expect for a comic book film. The acting was fantastic for this type of movie. Yet, I can see what many critics disliked about this movie--slow pacing and the cliched mad scientist experimenting on himself. If you are a fan of these types of movies, then I would recommend a purchase. If not, it's a good rental.

Summary: So you hate the hulk?
Review: I hated Spiderman. It was corny, and too typical. It was like a teen flick. The Hulk is darker, and for more serious humans who actually can think. You shouldnt judge this by the trailor, but you probably will. Too bad your missing out.

Summary: Ultimately, and sadly, disappointing
Review: Maybe I should have known better than to have high expectations I did for The Hulk, but considering the cast involved and who's sitting in the director's chair perhaps my expectations were justified. But despite all the hype and the big names, this big screen mega budget adaptation of The Hulk is ultimately disappointing. Eric Bana, who gave us such memorable lead characterizations in Chopper and Black Hawk Down, just seems a bit out of place as Bruce Banner: the man struggling to supress the beast within. Jennifer Connelly, who gets more and more beautiful the older she gets, is a fine choice as Betty Ross, while Sam Elliot (who plays her father General Ross) overacts quite a bit and seems a bit out of place as well. Nick Nolte however, gives the best performance in the film as Bruce's psychotic father. Director Ang Lee's use of using split frame shots (like in comic books to fully illustrate scenes) is a nice idea, but it does get quite annoying. Everyone seems to automatically nitpick the special effects and the CGI creation of the Hulk, but the big green machine himself is superbly animated and designed; and in a few shots actually looks real. The action scenes themselves are superbly put together as well throughout the first three quarters of the film; up until the climax and finale of the film where the movie turns into an incoherent cartoon. For me, that is where the film really fell apart, with the final fight scene and climax plus predictable ending which naturally sets the stage for the Hulk to smash and bash his way towards a sequel. All in all, The Hulk is an ultimately disappointing mega budget miss that aimed high, but fell well below radar. Go watch X2: X-Men United again.

Summary: Worst Marvel Movie Ever
Review: The acting is too contrived. The villain is way cheesey. The movie is soooo slow. Guys just use your money to buy any Hulk comics helmed by Peter David. At least then you wouldnt go crazy over the sloooooow pacing and utter stupidity of the movie.

Summary: I really, really wanted to like this movie!
Review: I saw this in the theater not on DVD, nor do I plan to watch the DVD. I enjoyed the Hulk-smash bits, who wouldn't? I also liked how they used cutting to give it the feel of being in a graphic novel, but otherwise it was pretty much a snoozer. It tried to be psychologically interesting but failed. I like the Hulk and really wanted to like this movie, but I was bored. And the one scene where you were actually interested in what happens, the final fight. You couldn't see it because of poor lighting and poor animation. I'm still not sure how this movie ended, and sadly I don't really care. Maybe they will add in more scenes and make this movie more interesting, but I'm not sure that's possible.
