Review: Enough has been said about this film. It's fantastic, but this version takes something away from the original. It's like the original version of 'blade runner' - too much explanation, not enough gaps for thought. A great film almost ruined by commercialism.

Review: A great deal of time has passed since Ellen Ripley's (Sigourney Weaver) ordeal with a nightmarish alien-creature. Many years, after abandoning her destroyed spacecraft, Ripley is found in deep space by a salvage unit. She is brought back to earth when she discovers that transmissions from a colony that has since settled on an alien planet have suddenly stop. She is offered a chance to team up with a group of marines to descend on the planet and investigate the alien presence. Determined to end the terrifying dreams of the alien that inhabit her sleep, Ripley agrees to assist the marines in their fateful expedition.In 'Aliens', James Cameron has mounted one of the most relentless and exhilarating action/science-fiction films to date. While not as precise or calculating as Ridley Scott's original 'Alien', 'Aliens' is simply a tour de force thrill-ride. Sigourney Weaver does a wonderful job at reprising her role as Ellen Ripley. Weaver was honored with a well-deserved Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Her performance is both vicious and heartfelt. Her motherly connection with Carrie Henn's character, a survivor named Newt, adds a lot of humanity to the story. Cameron does a fine job as director. Once he gets the ball rolling, the film is truly unrelenting. His direction of the battle sequences is fantastic, particularly the first battle in which he leaves the gritty details to the imagination of the viewer. Ray Lovejoy's break-neck editing is exceptional. Through his editing you get the sense that there are dozens upon dozens of aliens inhabiting the planet of LV-426, when in fact only six alien suits were used during filming. Stan Winston's creature effects for the aliens, especially those for the Alien Queen, are marvelous. The Alien Queen is equipped with a dynamic range of emotions, making this creature a character that's just as strong and expressive as any of the human characters in the film. James Horner's loud, riveting musical score, while very much unlike Jerry Goldsmith's subdued score for the original, is very effective for this film. While not as patient or intelligent as its predecessor 'Aliens' is a far more ambitious and daring film than Ridley Scott's 'Alien'.

Review: If you like to sit on the edge of your seat during a movie this is one to watch. I caught myself holding my breathe on several occasions. The musical scores intensifies the emotions in such manner that your heart will literally pound. Not for those who don't like gore.

Summary: Not deep, but still good
Review: Grim, gritty future worlds are James Cameron's specialty, and _Aliens_ is a great example of how good he can make that kind of film. No scene in the film is a visual pleasure -- the gateway station is depressingly sterile, and Ripley's apartment looks cluttered without looking like a real home. The colony itself, even in the scenes before the aliens rip it to shreds, doesn't look at all comforting. The alien-dominated area, of course, is incredibly creepy. The point is to make sure that the audience never feels safe during the film; there is no location that serves as a security blanket. From the first frame of this movie, the viewer feels on edge, and the tension never really releases until the final few frames. The script is quite well written, and everyone does at least a workmanlike job in the acting department. Bill Paxton, Michael Biehn, and Paul Reiser put in good turns, and Sigourney Weaver shines as always. Lance Henriksen is particularly memorable as the eager-to-please android Bishop. This is one of the best action films ever, and an excellent popcorn movie.

Summary: Best Out Of The Alien Set
Review: In 1979 they created a movie that stunned people and changed the way we looked at space. It was a different type of Science Fiction it had alot of elements of horror. Seven years later in 1986, director James Cameron (Terminator, Terminator 2, The Abyss) created its sequal which not only was as good as the first but better. Different from the original this one has Sigourney Weaver playin the part or Ripley again, but she has come out of a 57 year hyper sleep and finds out they have colonized the planet in which she picked up the origianl alien. Son afterwards they loose contact with the colonies and have to send in Ripley and a marine team to search for the eopl and destroy what they find. Which turns out to much more then one alien. Great movie with superb casting.

Summary: Vision of mastery
Review: The first version of this sci-fi film was weaker in story, and narrative impact than this expanded version. It's the original vision of James Cameron's intense sci-fi. Visual and mechanical effects here are not outdated yet. The sight of our central character, Ripley, holding adorable Newt in her arms in front of the mother of all space monsters, the Queen Alien is a standout of the genre. Ripley is played compellingly by Sigourney Weaver. The only question that remains from watching this sci-fi masterpiece is "why didn't Weaver get an Oscar?" You have every right to ask that. It seems hard to believe.

Summary: Scariest movie ever made
Review: After Alien I really wasn't sure I'd like this follow up. Besides rarely does a sequel live up to it's predecesor (Star Wars did but that's another story). This has got to be the scariest movie I've ever seen. The setting is perfect, and the fact that you don't know who's going to die next has you sitting on the edge of your seat. This movie is not about gore at all, it has a great story line and some great actors. The marines, for example Hudson has a great sense of humour and seems unafraid of anything until he sees the Aliens. There is a tremendous character growth to all those who come face to face with the Aliens and it really shows in the movie. Even the android Bishop (gotta love that knife thing he did to Drake and Hudson) will have you laughing. My favorite character has got to be Hicks, calm under pressure, brave, keeps his head. Aliens was one of the best trilogies ever (why did they have to make Resurection?!) and this could very well be the best movie ever made too. Get out there and rent it this instant you won't regret it.

Review: I first saw this movie some time after the "Aliens" action figure franchise took off. I had bought several of the toys and later a friend told me that they were based on a movie. You can imagine my surprise, and I was not at all disappointed with the movie, despite severe distortions in both the action figures and the profile cards on the back (with the exception of Hicks), but that's another story. The special effects are superb, the sets are intricate and impressive, especially the cruiser's interior and the atmosphere processor turned alien lair. I had a previous suspicion that Wierzbowski and Crowe were played by the same person since they are basically throwaway characters but now I know better. The aliens are truly frightening and convincing, especially the queen. Awesome performances are given by Sigourney Weaver as the confident leader type Ripley, Michael Biehn as the cool-headed marine Hicks, Lance Henriksen as the synthetic--excuse me--artificial person Bishop, Bill Paxton as the pessimistic but tough marine Hudson, and Paul Reiser as the sneaky (and eventually evil) corporate businessman Burke. "Aliens" is easily the best film in the four-part series, although "Alien" holds up strongly too. Great story, great dialogue, great performances, great action, great movie. Buy it.
