Rating: Summary: Thoroughly Enjoyable Film Review: As I know you cannot fit everything from the book into a film but what as in the film was great. I look forward to the next one. I have read almost all the books currently reading 4 and waiting on 5 to be release. I have a few words for those who doesn't have enough in the film why don't you take a stab at adapting the book into to a film and be sure that it fits a budget and time constraints of a normal movie. For those minorities who feel that there isn't enough minorities sit down write your own book and/or movie. Then you will definitely be satisfied then. YES, I am black so get over it. I enjoy hearing the critisms but my goodness until you are in the midst of trying to do it yourself then there is really nothing you can say. Although many work from the critisms to see if they can improve for the next go around. There are some things you can not do without in Harry Potter and we see there are things that you can. This a movie to appeal to the children so the deep philosophical points we need as adults is not necessary especially when the children cannot understand.
Rating: Summary: A Captivating Sequal! Review: This is a great movie. If you thought that the first one was good then you should see this one. You can see how the characters have gotten more mature then in the first one. Starting with physical change and leading into other things. I would recommend this to everyone, who likes Harry Potter.
Rating: Summary: Does it get any better? Review: I love Harry, read all the books and was dying to see this, well, I've seen it 3 times already, going for a fourth pretty soon and I have to say, the action, the surroundings, everything is perfect again. The focus is less on all the rituals and who the characters are and more on what is actually happening here. I think some people will enjoy it more because it's much faster, you have to pay attention to be able to stick with the story, cause it's so filled with little bits and pieces and loads of action. And the end... oh, don't get me started on the end, cause I almost cry every single time. A big thumbs up on this one again!!!
Rating: Summary: People will kill me for this Review: Though more 'faithful' than the adaptation of Philosopher's Stone/Sorcerer's Stone in that there is more detail, more action, more Ron-mugging, more special effects, and more of most quantifiable things, this movie could not and would not stand if the source material were seperated from it. The direction is generally as flat and moldy as month old Pepsi (though I did like the North by Northwest homage). The plot is mangled by attempting to squeeze all of the subplots into it without doing them justice, leading to the elimination of parts of them (Ginny's Valentine) that are actually important to the advancement of the main plot. The script has some gratingly patronizing moments when exposition has to be fitted in so that things can keep rolling. The mugging of the child actors has reached tremendous heights, with every speaking part, no matter how brief, getting a piece of the action. And finally, the feast used by as the movie's conclusion is treacly and manipulative, something that the book rightly glossed over on the way to the train station. Which is not to say that there aren't some great parts, because there are, the set and costume design is good, the set pieces are almost uniformly nice, the spiders and Aragog are actually scary (and I'm 22) and the Weasley family are fun to watch in their brief moment together, but the whole is much, much less than the sum of its parts. Still, and I cannot emphasize this enough, if people weren't at least somewhat familiar with the Potter mythology, they wouldn't be hailing this as better than the first movie, they'd be saying that it's a bloated, incoherent, but very pretty bauble.
Rating: Summary: Another sensation! Review: This movie was excellent! It followed the book fairly well, and while they did have to add lines, and take out some, they really did well on it. I thought it was better than the first one, even though I love the first one too. I think Daniel Radcliffe makes a great Harry Potter, and the actors for Ron, Hermione, Hagrid, and many other important characters are excellent as well. The special effects were really cool, especially in the Chamber of Secrets! So, if you're looking for an interesting, exciting movie, this would be your best choice!
Rating: Summary: Better and worse than the first Review: I took my 12-year-old daughter to see Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, since we had both thoroughly enjoyed Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. As for the review, I liked this installment less than the original, she liked it more, but we both agree it was very good. Of course it should be noted that neither of us is familiar with J.K. Rowling's original work, so all we have to go on is our own love for movies. Overall, this film never felt like anything less than a continuation of the original storyline from the first film -- from beginning to end, it simply felt like another chapter of the same Harry Potter story. Which is a good thing -- it shows that the same amount of time was taken to construct the storyline. And they did a great job of bringing back almost all of the major characters from the first film, except for a couple of the lesser teachers from the first film (who seemed absent only because I'd have at least liked to have seen them in the background, for a stronger sense of continuity between that Hogwarts and this Hogwarts). There are some really interesting new characters brought in to flesh the story out and fill the shoes of characters departed from last year. It's definitely darker and spookier than the first film. And without the need to introduce major characters we already know, this film spends nearly 90 percent of its time focusing on the mystery of the chamber of secrets. It definitely moves as fast as the first film, if not faster, whizzing through its 2-1/2 hour runtime without ever feeling like a 2-1/2 hour movie. Like the first, the story evolves well and never drags. It's the ending that left me cold. I promise not to give any secrets away, just that at the end of the first movie, I was left in shock when the bad guy was unmasked. Like a great detective novel, the hints were there -- he didn't come out of the blue -- but they did such a great job of making it seem like it was someone else, I was positively shocked when it all was explained. But in this one, I simply wasn't shocked. True, I didn't guess who it was, but I just wasn't left asking "what the ...!?" This time, the unmasking was anticlimatic. But that doesn't completely detract from an otherwise fine movie. And the issue of diversity and bigotry is handled in a very creative and interesting manner this time out -- there's a lesson in this movie, but it's not a preachy one like an afterschool special. There's also nifty links to other Harry Potter stories, such as Harry's ability to speak to snakes, hinted at early in the last film, now playing center stage for much of the film. If you liked the first film, you'll also like this one. Just remember, sometimes it's difficult to wow us with the same magic twice.
Rating: Summary: A MAGICAL MOVIE Review: I liked Dobby alot, I thought he was funny and the clues in the movie that led up to the mystery of the Chamber of Secrets were great. The action and suspense at the end were awsome, too. The actors were very good, my favorite was Ron, his facial expressions were hilarious. I didn't like Snape as an actor, though, he seemed out of place in the movie.
Rating: Summary: Magical Chamber! Review: This Harry Potter movie is wicked! The special effects are stunning and the acting is a definite cut above the first movie. The child actors are wonderful, supported by a great cast of adult leads. This movie is definetly better than its predessor, and is a must for any person. The movie is great-it's funny, scary, and outright charming and is destined to be a classic film!
Rating: Summary: THIS IS A WONDERFUL MOVIE Review: I adore this movie!... It was so much better than the first one and kept you at the edge of your seats throughout it. It was actually a little scary!![.] I highly suggest you watch this movie.
Rating: Summary: A Must See For Potter Fans Review: I'm not going to write a whole long narrative. I believe that if you are a Harry Potter fan, you should see this movie. The actors/actresses have much improved since the first movie, the graphics are better, and all around, its improved since the Sorceror's Stone. Of course, though, the first movie was still good. Everybody has a right to their own opinion, and mine is that this is a wonderful movie that any Harry Potter fan should see.
