Summary: An Instant Classic Fantasy Movie
Review: "The Chamber of Secrets" novel in the Harry Potter series is generally considered the weakest of J. K. Rowling's books - it does not have the joyful discovery of "Philosopher's Stone", the dark twists of "Prisioner of Azkaban" or the epic nature of "Goblet of Fire", but is simply a very good story. However, I predict its relative simplicity will make "Chamber of Secrets" the most successful book-to-movie translation in the series, as it is undoubtably better than the first movie, and it will be a daunting task for film-makers to tackle the intricate plot lines of book three and the collosal book four.Like all the books, "Chamber" begins midway through the summer as Harry's twelfth birthday is nearing, and again he faces a rather dismal one in the company of his horrible uncle, aunt and cousin. Excitement is already on the move however, as when Harry enters his bedroom the house elf Dobby is waiting for him, who warns him that under no circumstances is he to return to Hogwarts, where a great danger is waiting for him. But return he does, after being rescued from his family by the Weasley family and the now-famous flying blue Ford Angelia, and indeed finds what Dobby promised - something is stalking the halls of Hogwarts, putting all the students in great danger. Taking it upon himself to save his beloved home Harry and his friends Ron and Hermione seek out the clues, and find themselves facing a terrible evil. In a story filled with giant spiders, savage willow trees, magical swords, disembodied voices, mysterious diaries, glorious phoenixes, flying cars and Quidditch matches, the action and excitement doesn't let up until the ending credits. Once again Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson return as the three main protagonists, and I'm glad to say that while their acting was a little awkward in the first movie (understandable for newcomers) they've mellowed out and are much more natural with their characters and each other. Under-rated actor Tom Felton is again wickedly good, and Maggie Smith (McGonagall), Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid) and Alan Rickman (Snape) roll out brilliant performances. Unfortunatly I can't say the same for Richard Harris - Dumbledore in my mind is an elderly yet lively and energetic man, yet here I was petrified he was going to kneel over any second. The best part of any sequel in a series is the myraid of new characters to see, including the afore mentioned Dobby, the mysterious and sinister Tom Riddle, the narcissic Gilderoy Lockhart (played with great pizzazz by Kenneth Branaugh), and pompous Cornelius Fudge, and more of the Weasley family - more from Julie Walters as Molly Weasley, an introduction to Arthur Weasley, and from George, Fred and (especially) Ginny. Three performances stick out though: Lucius Malfoy was great - cold, calm and elegant, this guy just *oozed* sinister charm, Moaning Myrtle, with her high-pitched sobs and shrieks was an unexpected surprise and Colin Creevy, the forerunner to Book Four's reporter Rita Skeeter and J. K. Rowling's dig at the media was a small, but essential gem, and I love that split-second scene of horror on his face as the runaway Buldger hurtles towards him! Finally the sets, costumes and props are lovely, but the special effects are only so-so. The Quidditch game (again more visually exciting than any written account) is very good, as is the 'monster in the chamber', but the phoenix, spiders and Dobby could have used some tweaking.
All in all, a fun, interesting, colourful, sometimes-scary, and faithful adaptation to a beloved book, that (along with the Two Towers) brought 2002 to a fantasy-filled climax in the movie industry.

Summary: Chamber of Secrets Yields Interesting Revelations
Review: In this second part of Harry's adventures we get to meet again, his arch enemy, Voldermort,but with a different swing of occurences combined with a new character called Dobby who warns Harry of terrible disaster if he returns to Hogwarts! Harry ,of course, ignores these dire warnings and arrives at Hogwarts to find himself at odds with Draco Malfoy and ensnared in a mystery which leads him to The Chamber of Secrets. This movie will keep you intrigued as well as amazed with new characters like Moaning Myrtle, with disappearances and students turned to stone! A must see movie for all ages.

Summary: What a fun film..
Review: Iam truly not a fan of fantasy, but I couldn't wait to see this movie. I felt this way after I saw the 1st in it's series. I wasn't disappointed. These character are fun, charming and witty. The special effects deserve a thumbs up too. My family and I just sat at the edge of our seats just waiting for more action. I can't wait for the DVD! :-)

The sequel about the boy wizard and his curious classmates at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry has collected $257.8 million at the domestic box office since it debuted Nov. 16. Among the extra features on the two-disc DVD are 19 scenes with deleted material, tours of sets from the film and an exclusive interview with "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling, Warner Home Video announced Tuesday. It will also include digital jigsaw puzzles, printable "magic card" collectibles and interviews with child stars Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry, and Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, who play his pals Ron and Hermione. Summary: One Of the Best Movies Ever!
Review: When I went and saw this movie I was expecting it to be pretty awesome, but boy was I wrong! This movie was unbelievable! I couldn't sit still through most of it I was so excited! It's amazing to see all of my favorite scenes brought to life with wonderful effects! Quidditch was amazing, it no longer looked computerized and sort of fake but it seemed real! The scenes with the basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets was so real it was scary and the Polyjuice Potion effects were great! Though the new movie is a bit darker than the first it's much better in my opinion and a lot funnier as well. Not only is the movie better but the soundtrack is as well, along with much of the merchandise including the posters for the film. The kid actors have grown up a lot too, not just physically but they've become much more talented actors/actresses. New characters are introduced played by well known actors (Kenneth Brannagh and Jason Isaacs) and the rest of the cast is still the same, bringing back the characters we've learned to love. So if this didn't make it clear, the new Harry Potter film is one of a kind and the best of the year, if not all around.

Summary: Spellbound by Harry Potter
Review: This movie was incredible. There were many additional scenes that could have been added to this movie from the book, however this would have made this more into a mini-series. I do feel that most of the "key" action appeared from the book. I am happy to finally see an action/adventure that has both a sequel and a plot. This is not just another "let's just fight" movie. This movie was much darker than HP1. Then again, the book was much darker too. The characters moved from a time period of complete curiosity to knowing their way around a bit, this would go towards both the dark and good wizards. (This portrayed a natural progression if you think back to your school days.) Many reports have said that this movie was too scary for small children. I would base this data on your child. I know of a Kindergartener that wants to see it for a second time. This movie is based on a wonderful series by a very thought provoking author. The use of creative meanings in her terminology makes both the book and the movie quite an adventure. One can try to surmise what actions will take place next. For example, Neville Longbottom's name means absent minded professor. Therefore, one would expect him to be forgetful at this young age! My recommendations before you see this movie would be to learn a little bit more about the hidden meanings in the Harry Potter series. There are several books out that discuss hidden meanings and myths about this series. I would also recommend watching HP1 the night before seeing it too. It will give you a refresher of the characters and terminology before HP2.

Summary: Sorry, but this movie was terrible.
Review: I thought this movie was awful. The Sorcerer's Stone was full of magic and amazement, but the COS was void of any spark or excitement. I was very disappointed. I hope that the Prisoner of Azkaban is at least a little better than this poor movie.

Summary: Not bad, but too scary
Review: When I heard that the second in the series, Chamber of Secrets, had come out, I was looking forward to it. I had never read the books before seeing Sorcerer's Stone and liking it so much, I read the rest in the series. All I can say is, CoS is definitely full of action and adventure, but little else. Character development is almost gone, while there is lots of special effects (but nothing as eye-popping as FOTR). The actors are all back, Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) whose voices have deepened considerably, and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) who hasn't changed at all. Also Richard Harris who played Professor Dumbledore sounded like he was going to die any minute. Among the newer faces was the CG character of Dobby who was well-made and the hilarious Professor Gilderoy Lockhart, very well acted by Kenneth Branagh. Also new was the diabolical Lucius Malfoy and Jason Isaacs, who played him did very well. The special effects were well-done, especially the Rogue Bludger, the spider chase and the fight with the Basilisk, but I thought the movie in general was little too scary for the younger audience to which it is aimed.

Summary: A fair attepmt
Review: As an avid lover of the Harry Potter series, I must say I found the movie only adequate. Maybe I'm just a purist, but I found the added scenes not found in the book quite annoying. Such as in the flying car scene when Harry falls out of the car as the follow the train to hogwarts. Other then my slight nitpicking, the performaces by the actors were great. It was nice to see the cast grow in age as well as acting talent over the year. The costuming was perfect, the special effects stunning. The adaptation from the book though, was lackluster.
