Summary: Great Family Movie
Review: When I was a kid, about 5, I remember seeing Willy Wonka and I thought wow, I really would like to get one of those golden tickets. Now years later, Harry Potter bursts onto the scene and its a great series of movies to sit down and watch with kids. It actually has great lessons in the film plus its a lot of fun. Harry Potter is a likable kids and so are his friends and teachers. The second film is better than the first (for me) because it doesn't have to set up who the characters are. They brought back the Quiddicht (sp?) matches and the special effects are still first class. There are not many movies you can watch with your kids and enjoy but this is one of them. I actually do think that this film encourages kids to read.

Summary: It doesn't get much worse than this
Review: Oh, I know you won't like this but it's true. This was NOT a good portrayal of the book. It was hard for me to even sit through. The only two things this movie has for positive is the basalisk at the end, and the great story to back it. Not that you would really understand any of the story if you only watched the movie. The extreme lack of detail is appaling. It is beyond resonable. I know they had to cut down on the lengeth of time it ran, but come on, if your going to have to pay for it, they'd better have done a good job portraying the book. I'd rather watch a GOOD six hour movie in two parts than a four hour marginal movie. I'f you've never read the book, don't bother. Read the book, but just skip the movie, watching it will just be a dissapointing way to finish the second Harry Potter book. Don't bother with the movie. It's just same old, like the book, but missing everything that makes it good. I'd suggest this crud for only those who don't have enough imagination to read the books.

Summary: Bigger, Darker, and Missed some Key points
Review: Movie in itself was fabulous, in fact I own it. However, it missed some key points from the book...anyone else miss the whole Ginny Weasley character development part of the movie, I know I did--oh and there was the whole Colin Creevy's Harry Potter fan club that was entirely not present. Umm why weren't some of the 20+ deleted scenes in the movie??

Movie by itself great, movie compared to book not so great

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not as good as the first
Review: I really liked the first Harry Potter movie but I felt this one just doesn't live up to that. Harry really is a poor excuse for a wizard. He really doesn't know how to do anything. Things just happen for him. He's really lucky. The bird flies in just at the right time. The sword appears just at the right time. The car arrives just at the right time. Harry controls nothing. Everything just conveniently shows up. I think the story is very weak, often confusing, and often boring in this movie. It's just not what I was expecting.

Summary: Just a little less magical than the first, but still great!
Review: The 2-DVD set that you'll get when you buy this are well worth the money. In this, the second movie in the Harry Potter series, you'll find all of the same loveable characters from the first moveir, and some new ones as well. In this movie, Harry is a year older, and has more battles with Draco Malfoy, and then now has to save Hogwart's from the dreaded creature in the Chamber of Secrets.

The action scenes can be a little intense for younger viewers, but still will be timeless in its direction and pure enjoyment level. The second disc contains 19 extra cut secenes, and interviews with the cast and author.

I highly enjoyed this movie, and look forward to seeing it again.

Summary: Better than Sorcerer's Stone in ways, things still left out
Review: I've got the books and found the second Harry Potter movie to be much like the first. It's reasonably well done, more so than most adult book/ movie adaptations but still manages to leave some details out. I can't remember all of the book but when Harry and Ron miss the Hogwarts train they do travel to school in the Weasley's family car, just not quite the way the movie does it. Various other details are left out although one or more were actually filmed, you'll find those in the deleted scenes section of the second disc.
The movie may be a little scary to small children but I wasn't particularly bothered by anything other than a case or two of mild swearing.
I found the extras on the second DVD (those I've tried) to actually be improved over the offerings in Sorcerer's Stone. I never could find the deleted scenes in that one, they're easy to find here, not too hard to navigate and no silly games to work your way through first.
Pretty good adaptation, worth having in your Harry Potter collection

Summary: Harry Potter Strikes Back
Review: It's good to know that some companies do in fact listen to customer feedback. The Harry Potter DVD set is a great improvement over its predecessor as far as feature access goes.

The film itself is rather well done. While it's no replacement for reading the book, it's still a lot of fun. There are some corny lines, and a groan-inducing film cliche at the end, but these details fail to tarnish the experience. There are a lot more scary moments than the first film, but most children over 5 won't really mind.

Now for the features. Thankfully, you no longer have to wade through the same silly puzzle every time you want to see the deleted scenes. In this DVD, they're just in a simple menu you can get to from the starting screen. In fact, it's the first thing highlighted once you start the disc up. The scenes themselves are mostly extensions of existing ones, and it'd have been a lot better to have the option of integrating them back into the film.

The rest of the features range from good, to mediocre, to "oh, this one was meant for kids...". The interview with J. K. Rowling and the scriptwriter is pretty informative, but the interviewer asks some pretty silly and obvious questions. The cast interviews are entertaining. The children have very childlike responses, and the adults are more insightful. The tours of the sets are very enjoyable and quite relaxed. You get to see all sorts of places not fully revealed in the films such as inside shops of Diagon Alley. There's a concept design gallery with some fantastic pieces of art. The rest is for the kids. A simple quiz on the movie, some games and little bits of fun like a customizable photo slideshow. Same goes for the DVD features. Kids will have fun with the toys and games and the voice activation.

Overall, this is a great movie with a great DVD. Obviously, if you're a Harry Potter fan, you have this set already, but if you have a passing interest in the series and are doubtful on getting the DVD, you should give it a rent.

Summary: Adventuresome
Review: I actually enjoyed watching this more then the first one. I never left my seat at home till it was over. The movie seemed to be over to soon it held my interest so well.

Summary: It Just Keeps Getting Better.
Review: This movie was ten times better than the first one and ten times better than the book version. When I read the chamber of secrets it wasn't my favorite of the Harry Potter serise. Although the book could have used some help the movie was almost flawless and apeasing to the readers. It has alot of the information that was in the book and really only left out a few minor things. This movie shows a more mature realationship with the kids that isn't really shown til the fourth book. Although risky it was definatly a good idea. It has people asking, I wonder what is going to happen between Harry and Hermione next?
My favorite of the books is the third one and I was a bit sceptical about them makeing it into a movie because I was afraid it might ruin it. But after seeing the second movie I have no doubts that the third movie will be wonderful.

Summary: The Video
Review: It was better than the first, but is still not quite there. Maybe the third time will be the charm and achieve movie greatness.
