Summary: I was disappointed.
Review: Harry Potter is a child who attends a school for wizards. Not much really happens in this lackluster and soulless film, and it's story is more fitting for an episode of a TV series than a monstrously budgeted children's film. I was expecting grand adventure and fun, but got a very simple story about some kids messing around in their school trying to stop a meddling bad guy. Really, take away their magic powers, add in more angst, and this could have been an afterschool special.

Summary: One of my Favorite Movies
Review: I had never read any of the Harry Potter books before seeing Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. I was enchanted by the story and the film in general. I bought and read all the Harry Potter books within the next week.

I have seen the movie eleven times. The movie follows the book fairly well. There are some minor differences between the book and the movie and some things in the book just didn't make it into the film. Peeves the Poltergist is probably the biggest thing missing from the movie. However, the spirit of the book shines through.

I thought the movie was cast very well. The special effects are wonderful and not overdone.

Summary: Great....but disappointing in many ways to a die-hard fan...
Review: I have been an absolute die-hard Harry Potter fan from the beginning. I read the first two books before they were even popular, and have since read all four of them a dozen times each. Not exagerrating. So you can imagine how psyched I was when I heard about the movie.
I watched every trailer a million times. I was on the internet 24/7 searching for news. And I got my movie tickets five days in advance. I was there at the theatres on Nov. 16, and waited two hours for the film to start.
It was great. I loved it. But there were some things that really ticked me off. First, a lot of time was spent on things that didn't need dwelling on...a lot of stupid lines and jokes were added, like Ron getting hit in the face with his broomstick, or Seamus' constant explosions. These aren't true to the humor in the book, and it took time away from things that should have been there. We also needed a lot more character development. I would sit in the theatre for 4 hours to watch that movie, as long as they made it good.
Now for the actors. Daniel Radcliffe, though he's an absolute sweetie, was not perfect. He looks the part, but he was a bit weak througout the movie. He was REALLY good in the emotional scenes, though, and I think that makes up for it. Harry really is sort of an impossible role, as most of the book takes place in his head. Ron was perfect, i thought. I didn't quite agree with the way he looked, but the acting was altogether perfect. Hermione....well, I don't like Emma Watson at all, I think she seems like a little snot, so I might be biased. But I thought she really overplayed Hermione. Hermione should be kind hearted, self conscious, very intelligent, and a little bit bossy. Watson added a certain self confidence that Hermione doesn't have, made her an absolute know-it-all, and we didn't see much of the warmth that resides deep in Hermione's character.
Albus Dumbledore...one of my favorite characters from the books. Hilarious, a bit crazy, wise, gentle, understanding...Richard Harris was none of these thngs. He was just an old man with a long white beard and glasses. All his funny lines were cut, except for the earwax one, of course. He was just far too stiff and strict and....ugh, horrible. Then again, I also hate Richard Harris, so....
Well, at least Hagrid was perfect. Absolutely perfect in every way, shape, and form.
The special effects oculd use a lot of work. Quidditch and the chess scene were excellent, but the centaur, the troll, the flying lesson with Neville...all horrible. Get some new CG animation guys, because that's just not gonna cut it. If Aragog and Dobby look like that, I might just puke....CoS is my favorite book.
Don't think the movie's horrible, because it's not. I've just pointed out everything bad. It's actually quite wonderful and amazing...I love the costumes and sets. If it was good enough for me to go see 4 times, it can't be all that bad. Just my two cents, anyway...

Summary: Great Movie!!!
Review: At first I was reluctant to see this movie because I didn't want to ruin the books. I decided to see it anyways in the small hope that it might be good. I am so glad I saw it!!! This movie is completly true to the book. Besides a few minor details at the end it was almost exactly like the book. The director obviously relized the importance of not changing the movie from the book... This movie stays interesting all the way to the last scene. If your a Harry Potter fan than you should definetly see this movie!!!

Summary: Just plain magical
Review: I LOVE movies. I go to the movies almost every weekend and as a big movie go-er, I say that the Harry Potter movie was absolutely amazing. The directing and special effects were fantastic. They didn't make the movie to fit the imagination of every Harry Potter reader, they made it to tell the fictional story of Harry Potter and that is exactly what they acomplished. They got actors who I think fit the roles exactly (maybe not their appearance was exactly how your brain imagined them) but overall their personalities were very similar. I advise anyone who hasn't seen the movie to go out asap and see it, if they have read the books or not. I've seen the movie three times already and read the books twice (reading them again at the moment) and I am buying the DVD because I know I will watch it over and over and over and not get sick of it because it's that good. I hope someone knows what I am talking about. Anyways, I defninitely recommend the Harry Potter movie, and I can't wait for others to come!

Review: Harry Potter is so cool. Why? Because the books are tottaly the best of all of the books I've ever read!! And you don't even want to think of all the books I read. OOH! Sorry, got off the subject! I am impressed about how good the movies were, but they missed tons of things!! Like, the troll was so obviously fake!! But who am I to critique?? I think the movie makers did a good job. If you read this please and know when the 5th Harry Potter book is coming out write a review and I'll try to find it, Thanks, BYE.

Summary: harry potter is the best like no other
Review: im just 16 but i wanted to do a review for the movie, harry potter.
well, harry potter and the sorcerer's stone is the greatest movie ever. at first, i don't know about it. my friends were the ones who wanted to see the movie. i just asked, "what's that?" i really don't have any idea what that movie is. then, they told me that it's a story of author jk rowling, made to movie. i still don't have any idea so i agreed to watch. it's good. but i can't understand the story a bit. so, i borrowed the book from my friend. i read it and i found out that there were some important parts on the book that were not included in the movie. and they added some scenes in the movie that definitely were not in the book. i understand. it's for the time, right.
but still, the movie beats all other movies. and after reading the first book, i started to buy the 4-book set. ita awesome.
the actor daniel alan radcliffe looks a lot like harry potter and he has charms and the talent to act. no wonder he became the big hit after the movie was released.
emma watson and rupert grint were like no other. as they play harry's best friends, ron and hermione, they carry rhe role very well. and they look alike the illustration on the book.
one thing i can say: harry potter and the sorcerer's stone movie is the best!

Review: I really enjoyed the film. Actually this is my favorate movie along with the Lord of the Rings. So you may ask why did I only give it 4 stares. Well only because they cut a little to much out like the dragon escape, the potions challange, and th eclasses. But other than that it was perfect. Even though it is nearly 3 hours long I never got board. I don't even think it was long enough. But the special effects were good like Voldemort and Fluffy. So I relly recommend this movie and the book
