Rating: Summary: Commenting on Other Reviews!!!!! Review: After writing my review, I went back and read reviews from other ''critics''. A few of them said that the film was boring because it was too true to the book! What is that for an excuse? When a film is made from a book, it should be exactly like the book! Why make it(the film) if you are going to use another title and story? I always look forward to seeing the adaptation of the book brought to life. I have a great imagination and always want to see how others imagine it also. I think Chris Columbus did a fantastic job on the film. He also made the right decision to stay true to the books. I don't want to see The Chamber of Secrets if the characters are different, if the protaganists are different or if the story lines are different. If I want a new story and characters from Harry Potter..... I will wait for the next story from Miss Rowling. I really feel if you are a fan of the books, you will miss out if you don't have this film in your collection.........
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter Scores BIG! Review: I have to admit that I am usually unimpressed with a film that is made from a book. In this case.....I was PLEASANTLY surprised. To make a long story short....... I read the books because some children that I tutor were huge Harry Potter fans. I wanted to see what all the hype was about so I bought and read them also. They were great! I couldn't imagine how a filmmaker could bring this to the screen and still stay true to the book. I was very happy to see that Chris Columbus did just that! Of course there are very small subtle differences that really aren't important for the story and also save time to concentrate on the BIGGER story. The special effects, story line and characters make for a great movie. I have now watched my dvd at least 7 times and enjoyed it each time!(The dvd came out earlier in Europe) I now cannot wait until November for the Chamber of Secrets film. I recommend this film to anyone who loved the book, or anyone wanting 2 1/2 hours of pure fun!
Rating: Summary: Heldi's review Review: I think this movie is so very very good and phantastic. It can show the magic and all things about magic
Rating: Summary: A terrific movie on a terrific DVD! Review: I absolutely love the Harry Potter books, and I really appreciate the fact that the movie adaptation of the Sorcerer's Stone is so true to J.K. Rowling's story. The characters and scenes are everything that I had hoped and expected them to be. I love the movie and only wish that it was longer! Having said that, the DVD is fantastic. If you never watch the movie again (which I'm sure won't be the case), the special features alone are worth the cost of the DVD. In addition to the traditional trailers and interviews, there are fun games and downloads, interesting drawings and photos (which, of course, move), and getting to the deleted scenes is as much fun as watching them. There are TONS of great extras, so if you liked the Harry Potter movie at all, you will love the DVD!
Rating: Summary: Superb movie, Vile extras. Review: I absolutely adore both the book and movie versions of this story, and Disc 1 of this boxed-set is 100% as good as it should be: it's an absolutely lavish transfer of the film, with rich vivid color, crisp picture, and excellent sound. Indeed, I think I had a better viewing experience with the DVD than in the really rather nice theater I saw the film in.That said, Disc 2 was a MAJOR disappointment. Much of the content is just rehashed material from the film itself, and the interface is supremely irritating. Indeed, while first looking at it with two friends who are also great fans of the books and film, mere minutes of being assaulted by this lousy interface had everyone complaining loudly. There is no actual menu, and no direct way to access any of the supplementary material. To get to anything, you have to navigate through a series of screens relating to the story, and since nothing is labeled as to what it actually contains, you have to poke around endlessly to find anything interesting. Also, there isn't a lot of interesting supplementary content for an adult audience. Most of it is geared toward children. While this is a children's story, it actually has more adult fans, and the content should have much better accounted for all ages. Finally, the packaging of the set is horrible, flimsy cardboard. I would expect the outer box to last two seconds flat in the hands of children... and I don't expect it to last a terribly long time in the hands of adults. In conclusion, this is a superb movie superbly transferred to DVD, packaged in a really lousy boxed set that I think you'll be very disappointed with if you want anything at all more than the movie itself.
Rating: Summary: A very annoying DVD set - Harry deserved better! Review: I loved the books. I loved the movie. My kid was rivited to the seat during the entire thing. Then we tried to find the Never-Before-Seen footage that's supposed to be part of the package. Let me warn you - thus far I've been unable to find any trace of the Never-Before-Seen footage on either of the DVD's in the set. It's just not there. There's no menu item pointing to it, and there's no indication of that content being on CD2 either. If your hopes are up on seeing that extra footage, this DVD is not for you. My son is very disappointed. This disc contains no movie previews for other features and strangely enough, it lacks the FBI copyright message as well. If you like to collect movies and want to add Harry to your collection, I'd advise waiting until WB updates the disk menus and includes the features they've left out.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcerecer's Stone. Review: The WHOLE family sat and watched it. IT was an awesome movie! The movie still did the book justice!GLAD WE OWN IT! especially my 11 year old!
Rating: Summary: A really good buy! Review: The video store that I reserved Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone at must have made a mistake because they released it on May 23. I was lucky enough to get a copy of the DVD version and it is spectacular! There are two CD's, the first one is the actual Harry Potter movie, and the second has extras such as interviews with the producers and a tour of Hogwarts and so on. You can go to Diagon Alley and buy a wand, and then attend classes. The transition from movie screen to tv is great! This is one movie you should not miss!
Rating: Summary: It is worth the money to buy it on DVD Review: I loved the film. It was what I thought the world of harry Potter was going to be like. The film and the book though are different in some ways but for the most part the film was true to the book. Seeing Qudditch being played was breath taking. It was wonderful watching and knowing what wonderful work they did in that seen. The casting was just right. I thought that they picked the right person to play Snape the potions teacher. I loved the way they did Volodmort on the back of qurrel's head. This is the best movie of the year i cannot bleave that it did not win best film
