Summary: 3 out of five
Review: Artifacts in the video (softness and motion) and the limited playback options on the MAC (Harry and company are surely wizards of the apple platform) make this release a disappointment. Compared to something like the Sony SuperBit technology used to author the DVDs for 'Crouching Tiger' and 'AI' Warner Bros should never have cut costs in the production of this DVD. What gives with the multiple proof of purchase tabs in the package? Are they going to offer discounts on the future releases if JKR gets around to finishing the series. As Blake said, 'Damn braces, bless relaxes'. Hopefully she's still driven enough to finish the series.

Summary: I Want My Hogwarts Letter!
Review: Though changed slightly from the book, the story isn't horribly disfigured like most Hollywood productions of literary works. The scenes were so breathtakingly realistic that I got lost in them and didn't want to emerge from the story at movie's end. I can't wait to pay my admission and open the Chamber of Secrets!

Summary: Don't be put off
Review: I'm a 30 something fan of Harry Potter, but I conciously decided not to read any books until seeing the movie. Sure, it's not as good, but movies never are.

The DVD is very well presented, the tabs that hold the discs in are too stiff for my liking, it's just a matter of time until it breaks. The discs are very well laid out. Disc 1, just the movie, language selections and cast list. Disc 2 is enormous, you can't just browse either, you have to play around, catch the snitch, tap the wall @ Diagon Alley, etc, in order to see more stuff. I would say that this presentation has been designed to enhance the whole experience for the Potter die hard.

If you are looking for 'making of featurette's' and director's commentry, wait for the next version of the DVD (not that I know anything, I'm just guessing)

Summary: Great movie, nice DVD features
Review: The 2 disc Harry Potter DVD is a great value. In addition to the widescreen version of the acclaimed movie, there is also a second disc with special features, such as deleted scenes and a tour of the Hogwarts castle. On the DVD-ROM, there are various computer features as well. I enjoyed playing through the mini-games.

I have one complaint however, which is why I rated this four stars instead of five. In order to view the deleted scenes, you first have to win the game on the second disc (which takes a little over half an hour). The deleted scenes should have been directly accessible from the DVD's menu.

Summary: Grown Potter fans and Muggles Beware
Review: I believe that this DVD has confirmed my place in the muggle population. While I am sure that many of harry's pre-teen fans are thrilled to have to play games to get to certain features on the bonus disk I eventually turned off the player in disgust after easter egg hunting for half an hour. While this movie is meant to be a "kids" film, I think that the DVD producers could have taken hints from other DVD's marketed mainly to the younger portion of the population (eg Disney movies) that have games, for those viewers interested in playing, separate from things such as featurettes and deleted scenes, so that those who are either uninterested in playing games or just too much of a muggle to figure them out can enjoy the extras just the same.I am really disappointed. I love the books and the movie, but this DVD is nothing like I hoped it would be.

Summary: Good Movie, Terrible DVD
Review: First off, please note that this is a review of the DVD itself; not the movie. The movie is good, and might as well have been a few bucks cheaper and sold as one disk. Why? Because the second disk was apparently designed by some sadistic idiot. The box promises seven deleted scenes, something everyone that buys a DVD wants to see. Trouble is, you can't just click on a "Deleted Scenes" menu; you have to play some silly game! Rather like playing Myst or some puzzle game, and only when you're done do you get to see the deleted scenes. I didn't even bother to finish trying; I just put the 2nd disk back in the box, and there it will stay until I tire of this DVD and sell it. All in all, a staggeringly poor way to format bonus features; shame on WB for doing this.

Summary: Severely Disappointed with the DVD release
Review: I'd almost swear that there is stuff missing that I remember seeing in the movie theater. Also, the special features is ridiculous. I didn't want to play all the games and go through all the tasks just to see the cut scenes. I've been all over the Harry Potter official website for almost a year now, and read the books numerous times, I did NOT need everything respelled out for me over and over. Also in the book the smallest bottle of potion should be the one who gets Harry to the Stone, however the dvd special feature game seemed to have just randomly picked another and I had to start allover again.

I also think they really skimped out on cut scenes. After Snape's potions class there's over an hour left in the movie, where's the rest of the cut scenes? There had to be more.

The movie itself was pretty good aside from what I've already said, so if you don't care about cut scenes and goofy slow loading games go ahead and buy a copy.

Summary: DVD Extras Leave Something to be Desired...
Review: My children loved this movie just as much on DVD as in the theater, we did not notice that some of the sorting hat scene was cut, as stated by other reviewers. Our frustration came with the special features, the software was hard for our computer to run ( there were 3 or 4 different software programs to install ) To see deleted scenes you have to go through the paces, but our computer crashed every time we tried to use the software on the DVD. We DO meet the system requirements and don't usually have trouble with new software. So we feel like we really didn't get the extras, hence the 3 star rating. We are curious if others had trouble with the software. Small children would probably not be able to navigate this DVD on their own at all. Bummer. Still a good movie for the kids.

Summary: THIS ISN'T GOING TO BE PRETTY
Review: OK, this review is for disk 2 not the movie. The movie is GREAT! There is no doubt about that. Anyone who says it isn't really hasn't seen it! But disk 2 might be something you want to read about before getting involved in all the searching your going to be doing to find the deleted scenes, which is a shame. I don't know why they don't just add these scenes right into the DVD movie and see where they belong. Anyway, if your over 10 this 2nd DVD will drive you NUTS!!! You have to search for the S. Stone! You have to go to one place buy a wand, then go to another section and find where to look to get to the stone, and you can't do any of this without buying a wand. Oh and don't forget to go to the bank and get your money, but wait first you have to find the key!! UUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!! The whole thing was a waste of time! And myself being 3,9 I don't want to play a video game you know I just want to watch the movie and see the missing 7 scenes. It's a crime after all WE put these books on the NY Times bestseller list, WE made the movie #1, and WB should have had more respect for the Adults that don't have time..nor waste it playing a video game to get to see these scenes. If I wanted to play a viedo game I would go out and but the Harry Potter Game..HELLO WB ANYBODY HOME!!! If you want to build a kids gamne do it, but not on a DVD that most people don't wanrt to deal with. Alot of work went into this disk, and alot of cool stuff on it, but not for adults more for kids. Next one guys if your reading don't do it like this, let it be for all of us and put the delete stuff where we can just find it, like most of the BETTER movies companies do.

Summary: Movie-5 STARS DVD-1
Review: The movie was so great that I couldnt wait till the DVD came out, but it was a horrible purchase, the DVD would only play the movie once and then it wouldnt do it anymore, the deleted scenes were nothing like I expected, and it wont even read the disks anymore. WB made them [poorly]and there have been tons of complaints that I have seen on websites. I advise ppl not to by this for a few months till they start making them in better quality!
