Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Socerers Stone Review: This Movie was EXCELLENT! The special effects were unbeleivable. The VERY BEST FANTASY MOVIE EVER.
Rating: Summary: HARRY POTTER RULES Review: I LOVED THE MOVIE ALMOST AS MUCH AS THE BOOKS. AS SOON AS IT WAS FOR SALE I BOUGHT THE DVD FOR MY OWN COLLECTION, IT IS A KEEPER. A CORNER OF MY LIVING ROOM IS DEVOTED TO HARRY. I CAN HARDLY WAIT UNTIL THE NEXT MOVIE IS OUT. MY BIRTHDAY IS NOV 11TH SO WHEN THE NEXT MOVIE IS OUT ON THE 15TH, IT WILL BE LIKE A BELATED BIRTHDAY PRESENT. I HAVE SEEN A PREVIEW OF IT AND IT LOOKS AS GOOD AS THE FIRST ONE. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, PRODUCERS, DIRECTORS AND STARS.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter scored with me! Review: I am a HUGE fan of the Harry Potter books. I was a little worried about seeing the movie. Like some movies, I was worried that it would not portray the book as best as it could. I figured I would be bored knowing what was going to happen, and that I would tell the others what was coming next. But... I was wrong. This movie made me love the book and Harry Potter himself even more!!
Rating: Summary: Great movie, but left out so much Review: I know the limitations of film lengths required that many parts of the novel had to be omitted, but I found that these were the things I missed most. I especially missed Peeves and would like to have seen him throwing things at the students and being mischevious. That is the only reason I give this movie four stars instead of five, because I do love it even though too much was left out.Other than that, the movie perfectly portrays Harry's first year at Hogwarts and his transformation from an unloved orphan to a budding wizard destined for greatness. The characters were perfectly cast, with Emma Watson portraying Hermione exactly as I had imagined her. The mirror scene when Harry sees his parents always makes me cry each time I watch it. Hagrid is great, especially when he knocks down the door of the little shack to see Harry and then bends down to pick up the door, saying, "Sorry about that." Also, Alan Rickman played the part of Professor Snape perfectly. Some of the special effects don't quite look real and could have been better, but still, Voldemort freaked me out far more in the movie than he did in the book.
Rating: Summary: Made a believer out of me Review: Before Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone came out on video/DVD I could not stand the sight or sound of Harry Potter. To be honest I could not stand the name. So when it came out on video/DVD I rented it to see what the hype was all about. Now four months later I own the movie (which I bought the same day I rented it). I have sence bought all four books and read each twice and am on the third time reading them. I cant wait for book five to come out and for the next movie. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is an awesome movie. It is just like the book it keeps you going till the very end. The movie however, just brings it to life even more. The entire cast is totally aweosme and the special affects are awesome to. This is a MUST OWN MOVIE!!! I highly recomend it to anyone with an imagination.
Rating: Summary: As a kids movie, I'll give it 5 stars Review: Very original but I thought it lacked a little in plot and it is a little slow in parts. It is a lenghty movie, at least it seemed like it to me. Nevertheless, I did enjoy it and would watch it again. It is the story of a boy who finds out he is a wizard and gets to attend a special school to hone his skills. He and his friends at school get into an adventure. It is super entertainment for pre-teens and young teens. The effects are good, casting is awesome. I think the creators should be proud. We need more safe quality entertainment available for kids. I do look forwards to more Harry movies. Worth seeing for sure. If you keep in mind that it is geared more for a younger audience, you will not be dissapointed.
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Review: What a wondrous little film! Though I would have liked to see this film stay closer to the book itself, I cannot complain about the sequences, special effects and the pure wonder of the fantasy and magic that pervades the entire movie. The characters were terrific and the story line was true to the book for the most part. The cast was exceptional and fun to watch. I would reccomend this film for any child and for adults who wish to get lost in their own childhood again!
Rating: Summary: OK... but disapointing Review: When I went to the Movie theater on the first day of opening I was expecting to have just the amazing-est 2hours and a half of my life. Instead, I stood up few times, got myself coke and hotdogs, (which are expensive) and impatient that nothing in ME moved. When I came home, I re-read the book, and discovered what was lacking-- the display of emotions and humor that packs the pages in the book. Like when Harry invisions himself as the game-keeper assistance after being expelled from Hogwarts. Like when Hermione flings herself to Harry, and says "You're a great wizard." Not to mention all the songs and funny verses that was in the book. I believe if they did an arousing "Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy, warty, Hogwarts" Like in the book, with a charming tune to it, it would have been so much better. No songs to remember, no place to really laugh, and no place to really cry, makes a not-so-good movie, in my opinion. Yes, the picture was great, but I value the content, not the outside.
Rating: Summary: BUY THE BOOKS INSTEAD Review: The book is 100000 times better. The movie cut or modified over 75% of the plotline(Snapes Questions, Peeves, having a wands, midnight duel, second Quiddich Match, conversation between hagrid...)THE BOOKS IS SO MUCH BETTER!!!!!!(I am a harry potter fan)I hope Chris Culumbus would do better next time. Lord of the Ring fans,DO NOT dismiss the book because of this junk, HARRY POTTER BOOK IS MUCH BETTER(a thousand times better)THAN THE MOVIE!! from a Harry Potter Fan
