Rating: Summary: Better Than The Book! Review: "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone", is a great movie why no wonder Chris Columbus (who is the director of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone"), wanted to direct this movie. I also like the cast: Daniel Radclife, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, John Cleese, Robbie Coltrane, Warwick Davis, Richard Griffiths, Richard Harris, Ian Hart, John Hurt, Alan Rickman, Fiona Shaw, Maggie Smith, Julie Walters. There is going to be a "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets," and "Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban". I don't know if there is going to be a "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire", but I hope there will be one very soon, ansd so I give it a (5 out of 5).
Rating: Summary: It's nice Review: I think that this movie is nice... it is (as the producer said) faithful to the book... I've seen many other movies that are based on books, but were however, not very true to the book, which makes it a little disapointing, coz, many things tt were expected are not there...However, this Harry Potter movie, IMHO is good. I've read the books, and as a HP fan, I like this movie. Whether with the del scenes or not, it's still a great movie. I guess, with all those extra features in the DVD is what makes it worth gettin a DVD raher than a VCD or VHS...now, I can't wait for the new movie to be out.

Rating: Summary: Okay, I'll admit it - I wish there was really a Hogwart's. Review: I went into this movie thinking it was going to be terrible - but I was instantly whisked away into the fantasy world of Harry Potter. After seeing the movie, I read all the books, and am, whether I like it or not, a fan of the HP series. The DVD is great - there's lots of extras that you'll enjoy finding. I'm still discovering new bits myself! If you liked the books, this is a very good representation - very true to the story. And, it's great for adults and kids, though it might be a bit scary for very young children.
Rating: Summary: If you're a fan... Review: There shouldn't be any reason that you DON'T have this DVD, if you're a fan. There's no excuse. If you're not, I would say its because you haven't read the books. The movie was a bit of a imaginative letdown, but that has nothing to do with the quality of the product. Its great.
Rating: Summary: Dung Pile Replaces Hope for Good Adaptation Review: The books were wonderful and magical. The movie was too lengthy for what it was. If Warner Brothers had turned the books into a series and paid attentioin to what made the books good it would have been a great film. Instead we have recieved a warm pile of dung. The cut scenes on the DVD were short and annoying to reach. an entire hour was cut from the final film so why are there only three minutes of cut scenes on the DVD? It's because the space is taken up by worthless dung. Instead of this DVD get the Lord of the Rings, Shrek, Spider-Man, or something else worthwile.
Rating: Summary: A great story Review: Finally a movie that shows in a great way the story of a so sold book.... I like very much the whole saga so that I waited for this movie since i began reading: well i'm waiting for the second now. I advise the DVD not to the kids only(you can also read the books to your kids etc) , cause it's a story that makes you dream and it's, in my opinion, a very nice escape to everyday's life....
Rating: Summary: Great film, difficulty in accessing the extras mar the DVD Review: You can read the rest of the reviews here regarding the film itself, which I found to be quite a bit of fun. However, the DVD extras leave something to be desired, since there is no way to quickly view the behind-the-scenes portions of the DVD. Instead, you are forced to play the games included on the DVD in order to view the deleted or extra material. It ends up to be incredibly clumsy and cumbersome. Why the makers of this DVD did not separate the games from the extras is beyond me. In frustration I never got to see the additional materials, which I feel are one of the main reasons for purchasing a DVD copy over a VHS one. However, the DVD version will always have better picture and sound, and from that alone I reccomend the DVD.
Rating: Summary: Five Stars For Kids, Three For Me Review: Casting: A+ Set Design: A Special Effects: B Story Adaptation: C+ My problem with this movie is that it's far too rigidly literal to the books, and hence it suffers as a film (even though the book is wonderful). It's well-documented that Miss Rowling had a very strong presence during the making of the movie, and I do think that Chris Columbus, a competent director, let himself be intimidated and stifled by it. There's virtually no trace of his creative hand that's visible in the film. I could practically hear the pages of the book being read verbatim. "And then they went here, and then they did this, and then this happens..." On the good side, the actors are really excellent and everything looks exactly right. The special effects were not up to par on a film costing this much money. It's actually a pretty good movie, I just wish the filmmakers had taken a few liberties in order to make it better. As a children's movie, it probably gets four to five stars, as I'm sure they will love it. But I have to be honest and review it from my own adult perspective. There's at least a few more movies to go, so here's hoping they get it right next time!
Rating: Summary: An enjoyable flick Review: As a fan of the book, I will admit that many story elements were left out, and the changes made to condense the plot really irked me upon my first viewing of the film. Also, many of the special effects look very cartoony. That said, I just rewatched this film, and when you don't compare it to the book (which is obviously going to be better) the movie does hold its own and is very entertaining. The actors are all wonderful (the film is very well cast), the sets and scenes are very true to Rowling's fictitious world, and the movie captures the essence of what made the books so popular in the first place. In fact, my only complaint with the second viewing (and the reason the movie only gets 4 stars from me) is the lackluster special effects in 2 specific scenes. Other than that, I would almost be willing to say that I loved this movie.
