Summary: A Whole New World
Review: I never read the harry potter books. I never even knew he existed until all the hype about the movie came out. Being the curious type I went and saw it. Without even reading the books I feel in love with this movie. But what made it even better was realzing just how accurate their portrayls were. I read the book after I saw the movie and noticed that there werent that many differences. They eesentially stayed with the story line. Now I know Harry Potter two is already made ( or being made) and I, for one, cant wait to see if the sequel is as good as the first movie. I loved all four books and I would like to thank the author and the producers of the movie for creating such a vivid and imaginative world for us MUGGLES to experience....

Summary: In a word: Magical!
Review: Familiar as I am with the horrors known as film adaptations, "Harry Potter" was ten times better than I would have ever expected! I was far from disappointed. A BBC television adaptation *may* have done more justice to the story, but a book-to-movie like this truly needs the Hollywood big-budget special effect touch to bring out all the magic in Harry's world - from Diagon Alley to "Wingardium Leviosa" to Quidditch, the magic was presented beautifully. I've seen the movie twice (would love to again, but am cursed with a child's love of fantasy and an adult's schedule - definitely buying the DVD!), and it prompted me to reread the first book and read the other three for the first time over my winter break from college (I'm more than halfway through #4 as I type). In the rereading, I realized there were a few things cut out that I would have loved to see, but the filmmakers made excellent decisions in that department, even so. The casting was absolutely brilliant, from pure talent to the actors' physical resemblances to their characters, and it had been so long since I'd read the book, I was genuinely surprised by the twist ending! LOL As I just found out today, look forward to "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets," out next Thanksgiving!

Summary: Harry (Yawn) Potter and the ...zzzzzzzzz
Review: I love the Harry Potter books and I had high hopes for the film but was very dissapointed and even bored. The actors in the film are great, the look is great and feel of the movie is great but something was lost in the translation from book to film. The film loses it's ability to hold my attention about an hour and a half into it. I was so bored. I was also very dissapointed by the incredibly cheesy CGI effects in this movie. What were they going for...claymation? The creatures in this movie are absolutely substandard when compared to other state of the art monsters in films like LORD OF THE RINGS and even TV shows which manage to do better CGI. Harry Potters effects look like they were done on the CHEEEEAAAAAAPPPPP. The Quidditch sequence also looks like bad CGI. It does not appear real or seamless. It looks awful. The effects do not mix well with the rest of the movie. You mix a very realistic environment that is wonderfully executed with creatures that look like they belong in episodes of Davey and Goliath and you get a very unconvincing world. The chess scene near the end is also HORRIBLY executed and completely without menace.
Chris Columbus completely fails to add anything to the wonderful world Rowling created...he can't even realize on film in the first place. This film is a major letdown when compared with the books. All the Harry Potter merchandise (except for Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans) seems to have been concieved by a moron and executed as cheaply and shoddily as possible. Stick to the books.

Summary: Why I give Harry Potter 5 stars
Review: I think this movie was great. The actors were great and I think the story was pretty strait-forward. The movie is about a boy named Harry Potter who lives with his uncle, aunt and cousin. He is strongly abused and never gets any respect. All was going normaly until Harry and the Dursleys are showered with letters to,HIM! Harry ends up being rescued, and is brought to Hogwarts. But, life isn't going down easy steet for him. He meets a bothersome boy named Draco Malfoy, a rude, self-centered teacher named Proffesser Snape, and the worst, Voldemort. But will Harry defeat Voldemort for the second time? Watch the movie to find out.

Summary: Truly Magical!
Review: I saw this with my family while on vacation in Maryland. I was glad I chose it for my daughters first theatre outing. ............... There is a bit of everything in this film, fun, excitement, humor and minimal scariness. I was happy that it is such a quality film. It really lived up to all my expectations, and it's truly entertaining from beginning to end. ............. The special effects are outstanding here. I especially liked the game where they're all flying around on brooms in a kind of combination of football, hockey and rollerderby played in mid-air.The chess game of course, is also classic. ............. Don't miss out on this fun, exciting masterpiece of the supernatural genre. It's quality entertainment for the entire family, as well as a solo pleasure for viewers of all ages.

Summary: Harry Potter........what a movie.
Review: First off, The movie was a great flick, even if you havent read the books, actually i think it might be better if you havent read the books, that way your surprised at the end. The feel to the movie was pretty good, but they didnt get the magical atmosphere quite right, and HP's scar was above an eye, not in the middle of his head....but those are minor details.
Casting was great, i couldnt have chosed better, most people hated snape and malfoy, but related to Harry Potter and Hermoine and Roy. Diagon Alley looked just like I pictured it in my head. Even though the rating on this movie is PG, i would not take an eight year old. SOme parts are a bit 'freaky'. Fluffy is a bit scary......

But it is a Great Movie
