Review: Yea right. Cry that is. I have not seen this movie since the three times I paid to see it in 1982.But now with two little boys, Daddecided to have E.T. movie night. You know,Lights out,Pallets on the floor,Popcorn...And child like wonder.Well they did like the moviebut my expected responce per my 1982 memories just didnt transpirein my two modern day boys. You knowCry when he dies,Cry when he comes back alive,And cry when he leaves.OHHHHH NOOOO. My oldest was concerned with the Government men.My youngest thought that he was a nice Alien,And Dad did they say a cuss word? What? As I look away covering my eyes....Nope,Nope Dads not crying. Oh and the big emotional ending, Someone tell Mr Spielberg, Why is he waiting so long to go the Government men are coming. Kids....Still stirs the tears and cheers. And really is there a Human being alive over the age of Ten that has not seen this yet? If so shame on you Mom and Dad

Summary: "I'm keeping 'im"
Review: The story about a boy and his alien is hands down one of the greatest masterpieces in my film collection. It's so touching and wonderful, you can't hardly put it in words, it's just that kind of movie you want to watch over and over. I watched it again for the first time in over a decade, and in that time I'd forgotten what a masterpiece it truely is. I found myself watching it again after I listened to some tracks from the score. I thought it'd be fun to watch it again, and boy was I right! After watching it two things struck me, "Wow, no wonder everyone loves it so much!" and "I think I'm going to cry!" It's true E.T. strikes a chord in all of us that have ever needed a friend when times were bad, or ever was once a child (heck, I still am!)

Steven Spielberg was once quoted as saying, "Someone once told me never to work with kids or animals." And yet he directly Henry Thomas, the ever lovable Drew Berrymore, and the others better then most directers could have. All the acting is wonderful, especially the outstanding performance from E.T. in the closet scene. All around direction was superb as always (it's Steven Spielberg for crying out loud!) As well as camera work, editing, and soundtrack (John Williams deserves a standing ovation, buy the soundtrack!)

Problems with the film? I have no complaints what-so-ever! This is a masterpiece, and I think even Gene Shallet would think twice before deciding he hated it (and for those of you who don't know Gene Shallet, he hates almost everything he reviews!) Know if you'll excuse me, E.T. has to go phone home!

Summary: A TRUE CLASSIC AND AN ALL TIME GREAT!
Review: Steven Speilberg takes the utterley commonplace story of a lonley child befriending an alien from outer space. Despite the theme being somewhat tried and tested several times before this does emerge as a unique and absolutley fantastic fantasy movie with still very stunning visual effects and wonderful performances. Alongside, THE WIZARD OF OZ, this possibly has to be the greatest child fantasy film of all time! Its blend of humour and sometimes highly emotional scenes add to the greatness of this film and the ending is sure to get a lump in even adults throats. An excellent classic!

Summary: E.T makes me laugh every day
Review: I saw this movie a few weeks ago, and i asked myself : "what is it about ?, is it a joke ?, why so much fuss about nothing ?". The movie is very weak, there is neither acting nor plot in it. The alien looks like my old carpet. I think we could make a better alien with computer special effects today. Have you seen aliens in Independance Day ? these look like real aliens ! The movie is very representative of the eighties, that is to say with an american family of the middle class, with a good dog and a great barbecue. The music is often tearful with a lot of tremolos. I don't think honestly that E.T could be appreciated by children nowdays, the poor E.T looks like a fake doll. Poor E.T, if i were him, i would go home immediately.

Summary: It's good
Review: This movie is what I call a classic. Everyone has seen it, most people like it, there's nothing bad to say about it. Excellent acting, awesome story. It's good. Sorry about my under-enthusiasm; I've seen it so many times it's kind of gotten old-but it's an great movie. I would suggest it to anyone who likes good stories or science fiction.

Summary: A CLASSIC THAT WILL LIVE FOREVER
Review: THERE ARE NO OTHER WORDS TO DESCRIBE THIS INCREDIBLE FILM OTHER THAN IT HAS TO BE THE GREATEST FANTASY EVER FILMED. IT HAS A STORY WHICH IS TIMELESS AND WITH FABULOUS DIRECTION, ACTING & ALL PRODUCTION ASPECTS INCLUDING JOHN WILLIAMS BEST MUSICAL SCORE. I AM A GREAT FILM BUFF, YET NO FILM HAS EVER MADE ME FEEL SO MUCH EMOTION AS E.T. ALSO I'VE ALWAYS FELT IT WAS A GREAT SHAME FOR E.T. NOT TO HAVE WON THE ACADEMY AWARD FOR BEST PICTURE and BEST DIRECTOR BACK IN 1982. IT WAS 100X BETTER THAN gandhi (did I spell that correctly? Ah, who cares) I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE RERELEASE IN 2002 AND ALSO CAN'T WAIT UNTIL IT COMES OUT ON DVD. I LOVE THIS MOVIE AND WILL WATCH IT AGAIN AND AGAIN FOREVER. IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THIS MOVIE, YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE MISSING. I KNOW THAT THE CHILDREN OF TOMORROW WILL ALSO FEEL THE SAME WAY. A GREAT FILM!

Summary: Pure Spielberg
Review: "E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial is a classic and one of Steven Spielberg's most famous films. It's probably the one movie that defines the name "Spielberg" more than any other. The logo on the original movie poster comes from Steven Spielberg's trademark "Amblin Entertainment" production sign. One of the many things worth mentioning in this movie is Henry Thomas' performance as Elliot. It is the best performance from a child actor I have ever seen. He has a lot of emotional scenes in the movie, which is what makes child actors better. Whenever I hear or see child actors cry emotionally on-screen in movies, I call that great acting {same can be said with Haley Joel Osment's performance as Cole in The Sixth Sense}. I can't wait till a 20th anniversary edition of this movie comes out to theaters 2 years from now.

Summary: Touching and Brillent Science Fiction
Review: Steven Spielberg scored anther success with ET. The story of a young boy who must help a vistor from another world call his ship to come bring him home. As with Close Encounters of the Thrid Kind, ET also explored the idea of man having peaceful contact with beings from another world. Some may even consider ET to be a "sequal" of sorts to Close Encounters of the Thrid Kind, and since it came from the same film maker, this could be true. Screenplay by Melissa Matheson. Directed by Steven Spielberg. Music by John Williams. Visual Effects by Industrail Light and Magic. In the same genre as STAR WARS and STAR TREK.

Summary: E.T.-Phone Home Because it is Brilliant
Review: This is the one where Spielberg pays tribute to his friend Lucas(notice the Star Wars toys in Elliot's room!).I swear that this is the same neighborhood that Poltergeist was filmed(I could be wrong of course).Cute little Drew Barrymore is great, and bicycle flying sequence with John William's score is awesome. There was a scene that was cut involving Elliot having to go before the principal of the school(principal was played by Harrison Ford).

Summary: Spielberg's best film
Review: This film is one of the best . . . ever. It's the only film I have ever cried during. When E.T. dies, I cried. Yeah, I fell for Spielberg's magic touch. It's truly a wonderful film. No explosions. No computer graphics. Just pure Spielberg genius. It's surprising that this film was never followed by a sequel. If the film had been made today, then Universal Studios would have demanded a few sequels to this great film. This film is worth owning on VHS and it really needs to be released on DVD. This was probably the best film released during the eighties. Classic.
