Summary: I'll take the red pill anyday.....
Review: The year is 1999........ no wait, the year is 2199..... we think. Unfortunately, machines have ruled the Earth for too long and we don't know everything that has happened. All we know is that most of humanity is in a computer program called the Matrix. Oh yeah........ the machines are using us like batteries.

One of the most special effects laden movies of all time, "Matrix" still holds it ground as one of the best many years later. Add to that a solid story line and terrific casting, and you have the makings of a very good movie.

Keanu Reeves is Neo, a computer hacker who knows that there is something more to the world than he can see but can't quite figure it out. Morphius believes that Neo is the one that can save humanity from the Matrix and, ultimately, from the machines. The Agents, machines in the Matrix, are also looking for Neo. But they do not realize just who this man really is.

Part-one of a three-part trilogy, "Matrix" is a fast-paced action movie that will keep you riveted to your seat from start to finish. This VHS version also comes with 4 behind-the-scenes features at the end of the movie that shows you how parts of the movie were made, including the awesome "bullet" scene on top of the building.

Eventually, all three parts of this trilogy will be offered together in some compilation DVD set, with a lot of cool extras. While you wait for that to come out, go ahead and pick up the original and enjoy it now.

Summary: flawless
Review: My alltime favorite movie. I was absolutely blown away by this movie the first time I saw it. Now I'm blown away everytime I watch it. As soon as it finished I was dying for a sequel. I never thought it would turn into a trilogy. This movie was an absolute flawless picture. Everyday I go on the net and find out new things about the movie that I nevber thought were true. Hooked! I am absolutely hooked!!!

Summary: thinking man's king fu
Review: A lot of fun. The inner working of computer code, far into the future, when programs are represented from within by humanoid characters, who in turn monitor the sleeping humans who live as well inside the simulation, as they sleep in reality.

A group of humans attempt to break out and mayhem ensues. Plenty of analogies to real current day programming techniques, and when taken as a trilogy, a fair amount of pholosophy running quietly in the back ground. Also, the trilogy will have tons of surprises---this movie is actually quite intellectually impressive.

this movie is just fun!!!

I am planning on getting the trilogy when it comes out as a boxed set early 2004.

Summary: For those cybergeeks who haven't a life
Review: With out a doubt this as got to be one of if not the worst movies of all time. It's appeal is generated by special effects, and the fact that so many people today lead their non-existant lives through a computer instead of in the day to day world where events do happen in a humanly manner, and reality is not virtual. Aside from the script which has enough holes in it that you could drive a tractor trailer truck through the movie at any given point, and the...poor acting. The movies main message that you can only experience life by picking up your cell phone and turing on your computer is both sad and shallow. However for our current generation of geeks out here who relish the thought that the virtual is reality such a message is very appealing. Include in this vast hodge podge of, special effects, bad acting, and poor writing are snippets of mysticisim drawn from several religions. All of which help the movie reek even more of a slick sales pitch designed to get your bucks. In short if you walk out of this movie feeling awed, and inspired you may seriously want to consider just how shallow a life it is your leading. If you walk away half way through the movie, or else see it entirely and then wonder just where in the heck the movie was...well then your doing something right in your life. But don't worry cybergeeks, theres more to come..sad to say.

Summary: Bland, Boring, Unoriginal Fluff for the Mentally Impaired
Review: Uninspired acting and writing bring down the admirable visual effects of this derivative sci-fi flick. Not recommended for any reason.

Summary: Silly
Review: I thought this film was just plain silly. I couldn't take it seriously. And that ridiculous shiny black leather thing they had going ruined it for me. I hated the lead female character. Some of her moves were the most embarrassingly ridiculous in the whole film, like that stupid praying mantis slow-mo kung fu move at the beginning, and the equally stupid slow-mo sideways wall running scene near the end. Reeves acting was wooden as always, he obviously only gets parts due to his looks and athletic physique, and I've never been crazy about Fishburne. As far as I'm concerned Fishburne's most convincing part was as a NY mugger in Death Wish. But Agent Smith was great, and the guy who played the 'betrayer', i think he was called Cypher, he was great as well. Special effects were good, and the music was good. In short, entertaining but silly. Oh yeah, one last thing, I was glad when that albino blondie chick in the shiny WHITE leather gear got killed.

Summary: Could use more extras
Review: There isn't much I can say about The Matrix that has not already been said. It is truly a visionary film that mixes real human drama about self and the meaning of life into a slick science fiction piece that is truly approachable by sci-fi and non sci-fi fans alike. The DVD package, however, could have stood some more extra features, besides the few behind the scenes shorts that came with it. A piece about some of the philosophy behind some of the things that happen in the movies, or the names used, would have been nice. The picture is clear on the DVD, the sound is good, and the transfer is top notch. All that stops me from giving it a 5-star rating is the lack of extras.

Summary: Not that I really need to comment here...
Review: First: awesome film and DVD.
There isn't really anything bad I can say about this DVD. Of course, extra scenes not included in the theatrical release would have been nice, but oh well. If there is any drawback at all it is this : one of the primary special features goes overboard in giving a synopsis of the plot and explaining what the matrix is. Normally, people watch the special features after having seen the movie. And if you've seen the movie already, you should certainly know all about the plot and what the matrix is. So this feature comes off as very redundant, even patronizing.
On the other hand, there is a very good music-only ( the score and the contributions by musical groups ) track of the film.
I find that many people exaggerate their original impressions of this film when discussing Reloaded. They act as though they all gave the first film a four-star rating when it came out, and they imply Reloaded doesn't hold up. Unfortunately, this is an example of what could be called "retroactive continuity": it didn't go down like that. The quality of this film was only fully recognized after the fact.
Also, even though it sounds like an unlikely statement, some airheads watch these films without fully understanding what's going on - like not knowing when characters are in the matrix and when they're not. Test it.

Summary: This is what movie going experience should be all about!!!
Review: The Matrix, without a doubt, is one of the most amazing films out to this day. While some might view it no more than a cool comic book adaptation, it is much more than that. The Matrix taps into some of the most difficult questions of existence such as pleasure vs. morality, reality vs. perception. It is a grandiose twist of the idea of dream skepticism, which aims to entertain wast audience appealing to teens as well as adults. The Matrix has already became part of our (Western) culture. I have heard many of my friends refer to the Matrix while talking about unrelated ideas. This great film will be remembered for a long time.

Summary: Essential DVD
Review: Good Story Line...Good special effects...and just simply one of the best movies of all time. No DVD collection should be without it
