Review: This is a very good film that could have been a great film. Mr. Spielberg should resist the temptation of explaining everything to the audience at the end of the story. This film is vastly superior to Total Recall but falls short of the stature of Blade Runner.

Summary: Worth Seeing
Review: I won't give away any spoilers. The previews tell you Cruise is part of a police force that catches murderers before they do the deed, but now they're after him (sorta like The Fugitive "I didn't do it!"). So will he or won't he? Go find out. The special effects are excellent. The action is pretty good. And you can forgive Cruise for not figuring it out earlier because he has a lot on his mind. I would go see it again and that's my formula for a good movie.

Summary: I walked in under an hour
Review: Spielberg is a genius, granted. Tom Cruise can be a great actor, also granted. Yet this time, those two factors do not add up to a great movie. Like one of the other reviewers said, there is not very much action in this film. I found myself getting impatient for the chase to start, but after nearly forty-five minutes of nothing much but talk, I walked. If you're going to see it because you find the concept of arresting murderers before they murder a provocative one, perhaps you'll like it. If you're going in the hopes of being simply entertained, I'd say you're wasting your money. See it at least at a matinee showing and save paying the top price. Or wait for it to come out on video or DVD.

Summary: Visually AMAZING - Interesting Story - But NOT a Family Film
Review: You will see things in this movie you have never seem before. The action is done in new and interesting ways. The plot is interesting (especially for what is really an action flick) and will keep you involved all the way through.All of the actors give very good performances and though the special effects are quite amazing they are used in the service of the story. One little example is the animated cereal box that irritates Anderton (Tom Cruise) so he chucks it across the room. The point is on Anderton not the box even though that effect is interesting. There are many many many effects like that in this movie. While I enjoyed the movie a great deal there were a couple or three scenes that caused me real discomfort. I think (and feel free to disagree with me on this) that some things in this movie aren't for people under sixteen even though it is rated PG-13 it does have some sexual scenes that while not overt would make me uncomfortable with my 14 year old with me. I liked the movie enough to want it to be a big success, but not enough to tell my kids to go see it. I think it is a better movie that "Sum of All Fears" which I also liked, but I would rather my kids saw that movie. This movie is an action movie, but has enough of a point to almost be a serious piece - it really is that interesting. However, it pulls back from a serious examination of the points it raises - but that isn't the point of this movie, is it? It IS really an action movie, so let's not begrudge it its true nature. Don't get too bent out of shape at the gaps in the logic of the plot. As in all noir films, there is FUN to be had in all the movie misery and pain (which woludn't be fun in real life). But if you love an involved and interesting story, and relish seeing things you haven't seen before this is a good movie for you. Just beware of that it will be a rough ride at a couple of spots along the way.

Summary: Sneak Preview was a Blast!
Review: I got a chance to check this film out at a sneak preview and I can't tell you enough good things about it. It was truly everything that you could have hoped for. The action is amazing and the futuristic world that Spielburg has realized is beyond description. I am so excited for the regular release date so that I can go and check this movie out again. One little interesting side-note, everybody knows this movie is based on the Philip K. Dick short story, but there was an additional credit at the end of the film citing certain ideas from the novel ¨Glorious Failure¨ by Ben Jonjak. I have subsequently checked this book out and it has also really blown my mind.

Review: so i haven't seen it but i have some things to say. First of all, no one gives credit to the writers. It's always the director who gets all the fame and glory. However, if a movie bombs, people usually say it was badly written. Hey, it could have been directed badly! I say this because my friend and neighbor, JON COHEN, co-wrote this screenplay. So if you diss a movie, diss it for the right reason. If you feel there was just something that didn't click, dont jump to yell at the writer. Well, you can if you try writing a screenplay for a major movie.

Summary: visually dazzling
Review: Here's the bottom line on Minority Report, the new Spielberg movie with Tom Cruise: it's worth your time. It's visually dazzling, an incredible look at a future Washington, with lots of fascinating gizmos and gadgets. It's also got riveting action scenes (in the first half of the movie, anyway), and a great premise. Cruise's character has been arrested after precogs (they can see the future) have decided that he will commit a future crime. He's arrested to be prosecuted for that crime. The story is so good that it keeps you interested-- the movie keeps you thinking and on the edge of your seat SIMULTANEOUSLY which is something movies can rarely do. The downside: this movie has a lot of scenes that are not integral to the plot, and it's too long, at about 2 hours and 20 minutes. This type of movie (sci-fi action) should almost always run under 2 hours, in my opinion. There's a bit too much of the typical Spielberg sentimentality, too, and at just the worst spot. But those are my only gripes. Believe me-- I'm no great fan of Tom Cruise, and I'm not Spielberg's biggest fan either, but I give Minority Report a 4/5. ken32

Summary: Where Do I Start?
Review: Before I begin, let me just say that I'm a fan of Steven Spielberg and his filmography. I felt A.I. was a good movie, but not nearly what it could have been. With that said, I attended the screening of Spielberg's Minority Report expecting what the previews showed: very entertaining, great visuals, and indiana-jones type fun. I'll stay away from spoilers here, so you can read with ease. Unfortunately, the film delivered a complete 180 from what I expected. With Minority Report, the 2 and a half hour film, Spielberg tries to give us a masterpiece. He fails, and gives us an average overly long thriller. The concept is great, but the execution is poor. The film could have been a very smart, very exciting film. Instead, by trying to be both, it's an average science fiction film. The action sequences from the trailer are about 90% of the action in the film. The rest of the film is dialogue, and a mystery. Towards the end of the film, I thought to myself, 'yeah, this was good, not great.. this is a good spot to end..' Unfortunately, that moment came twenty minutes before the actual ending. The acting is pretty good. Cruise delivers another performance of himself playing... himself. The score is very good, Williams turns in another winner. I'm a realistic film-goer. I know that Minority Report is going to be respected among big fans of cinema, but to average 9-5 people, like me, they will be bored. This is A.I. all over again, but not as provocative. This is The Fugitive without the complexity. This is Spielberg trying to be his old self, but failing. While I can't say it's a bad film, I can say that it's utterly average. Watch it at the theater, but be prepared to be let down. Bring on Spielberg's next, "Catch me if you Can."

Summary: Spielberg's dazzling new Sci Fi
Review: After the commercial dissapointment of A.I Artificial Intelligence, Steven Spielberg's upcoming film Minority Report is set in more traditional Science Fiction territory. Tom Cruise, in his 25th film looks great as the Pre-Crime agent who is on the run for a murder he hasn't commited yet. From the trailers and previews, the action and FX are absolutley amazing and the dark tone is evident, with some creepy CG creations. Minority Report looks set to be one of the biggest films of the year.
